If that's the casting that JL is using for the General Lee, not only am I passing on it, I'd seriously question any future JL purchases entirely. There is no excusing that...that....it's so bad I can't even call it a 'casting' considering it's cruder than most of Summer's offerings! Please tell me that's just a 'fill the blisterpack with something for the Toy Show' situation. The newer ERTL "1969 Charger casting" doesn't have taillights or even a correct rear window!

Swifty, thanks for telling it like it is.
JL collectors wouldn't be impressed if this is the casting that gets used.

Cheers. Cobra

If that's the casting that's going to be used I'm going to cancel my pre order for that set.Someone is crazy if they think that will fly as a JL.
Someone needs to get with Mac Ragan & RC2 to find out if that's true.

Let's wait and see if anyone from RC2 will confirm that they are in fact going to use the ERTL Charger in place of JLs nice casting, before we pile on them.

If they DO in fact use the ERTL casting, shame shame shame on them.

A) Johnny Lightnings should have Johnny Lightnings in the package.

B) The JL is the better casting.

This *hopefully* is just a prototype to show off the package to the consumers. Like the rest of you, the JL is WAAAAYYYY better casting for the Charger.

All:

Toy Fair is not meant for collectors. It's meant for the trade and toy buyers for stores, not for consumers. And the trade doesn't care if the General Lee has the wrong window or no taillights, it only cares that DUKES OF HAZZARD is a continuing theme, and will place orders for their stores accordingly.

Having had to prepare for one or two of these events, I can also tell you that what you see is not necessarily what actually comes out. We popped lots of incorrect cars in new blisters, just so that we could discuss themes for the coming year. Inciteful's got it right, it's probably just a packaging concept. And even those change. If RC2 operates anything like JL, they simply had an Ertl General Lee lying around somewhere, or grabbed one out of the warehouse, and stuffed it in the package.

I refuse to pass judgment on this series until I see actual product or know more details about it.
