40's Woodie $1,150?

I looked at the Texas online, but found a few things I couldn't believe. Is there really an $1,150 variation of the 40's woodie (card 51) or is that an error.

The same with the Purple Monster Vette, they have those priced way high in comparison to Tomart's last guide............although that is old.

It just made me question whether this site has reliable values.

Thanks also for the welcome, glad to be here.

I take everything I see in any price guide with a huge rock of salt. I NEVER see any correlation to reality.

Thanks. The HW prices seem to be all over the map. I am trying to determine values for the start prices on ebay auctions, as I'm not a HW collector (except for the cars I really like). I recently purchased a large (5 thousand) car diecast collection, and it has about 1200 HW cars that I am going to sell on ebay. I'm just trying to get a sense of their value before I list them. I'll probably just take an average of what I see on the two online price guides I found. I posted a note on the ebay auctions on the auction forum.

Thanks.

Thanks.

Just start them out at $1.00 people like bids that start low.

Yes the #51 blue card is worthy of that price, in fact they've gone alot higher. There are very few of them around so completists will pay whatever it takes to get one. When I was collecting blue cards, I just picked up the same car on a different card for like $10.

I gues it's my lucky day, as there is one of these in the collection. The card does have a crease, but it's in pretty good shape for it's age.

and to think.......I take all my cars for my collection out of the package, and toss the blisters.

not a bad idea, trouble with that is the ebay fees are too high to have $1 items. It's less expensive for the seller to not have it sell at a higher price, than to have it sell at $1 and pay all the fees. If ebay would lower their fees for low $ items, I'd start them all off at a $1 as it would save me a heck of a lot of time researching values.

Even a creased card is worthy of a big sale, depending on how bad it is. Congrats on the great buy.

Thanks. I bought this collection to get some very hard to locate Aurora slot cars, and a few original toppers fro my own collection. The HW were a bonus, as I normally don't collect them unless it's a casting of a car I really like, or a car that I own.
