I had a feeling that this crap was gunna happen. I will NEVER buy a old RC casting disguised as a TRUE JL. I collect JL, NOT junk. all i can say to RC2 is ya better not pull this thing on your loyal customers. It WILL hurt you in the long run.But I'm sure its gunna only get worse from here on..... sad, very sad.

Yes, Johnny Ertl has indeed come home...

Plastic or metal bases? Anyone care to guess?

I'm not sure you had this in mind when you requested more Classic Plastic, eh?

Why would they use a RC casting for the '58 when there is already a JL version?

Hoping it's a misprint? But thats what is listed on davezdiecast.

I wouldn't mind so much if they used the nicer Ertl casting (with a metal base).

ertl had a 58 chev ragtop it was a nice casting .i wouldnt mind some of the old castings they had a studebaker a long time ago j.l. dont have any except frankenstude
i collect j.l. and have quite a few ,but i also collect a lot more than one brand of cars
whoever makes a car i like thats what i buy ,j.l. has used the same casting with different paint on a lot of there cars ,and we still buy them .ertl made a lot of nice 1.18 cars and im sure they will use the old castings if they make them in the j.l.line of cars.and i have more j.l. than any other brand of cars because i like the detail .even when the hoods fall off when you open some of them and the wheels wont turn , and i have a few that came like that .i guess im a loyal fan of j.l. l.o.l.

Ummm, at the risk of sounding petty here... davezdiecast puts up everything and anything he gets ahold of... 90% of what he lists ends up being incorrect. Its just another of the "I gotta be the first" mentality.

I wouldn't get real upset until you know its a fact, not some release info that's so preliminary it will have to wait 4 months to even be sketchy

Rob

Good point. Noticed LT1Tony is in this thread, hopefully he can confirm or deny.

Let me see if I get this straight.. The "rumor" is that RC2 is going to use some of their castings under the J/L name? That makes me want to choke!! Those are some pretty poor castings in my eyes, but then, they're only $3 cars I guess. It isn't like us adults roll around in the floor and actually play with em.

This set doesn't come out until April-May of next year, I wouldn't be suprised if it did change. I wouldn't like the idea of an RC casting in a JL package in 1:64. I would hate to open it, and then look at the base and see the word Racing Champions.

I agree totally. And it would be a bad move on behalf of RC2 to do this. I bought a couple GTO's and Camaro's under the Ertl American Muscle name. I never could get over the ill fitting plastic pieces and the cheesy plastic headlights. I never bought anymore after that. Blah!
