Are you looking to set a record? There are different records for different size boats and engines, it sounds like you are looking for the unlimited class. I set a record in the Off shore cat back in the mid 90's with the IMPBA, I was runnig a aeromarine sprint cat with the twin turbine canopy, BH hanson Indy Race motor ported and polished and matched by Terry cavalier of Cajun Law Hobbies in Louisiana, He also blue printed my hull, When I get home I will have to see what prop I had run, it was a 3 blade from tidewater marine that was polished and balanced by them, the record I set at the time was 64mph, There is faster now. This was when the big gasser boats were just starting out, I am still a race director for the IMPBA as well. you can probably get away with any Hanson motor, MHZ, JG, or Quickdraw. I am sure I left a few out, If your not running on rough water the Team Believer Off shore cat is the way to go its a bit small but its fast!!! 50+mph is easily achievable with many combos. Also depends on how much money you want to spend. any ???? feel free to email or PM me.
