Stopped by the MM booth at the DCS convention today. They had a nice display and the rep was very informative. Didn't really get a chance to talk to him a lot but he did tell me a few things. Maisto has ALL of the 1:18 Muscle Machine tools. They have about 8 or 9 of the original 1:24. They are going to release single 1:64 scale, 1:24, 1:18, 1:18 radio controlled cars and a 1:64 three pack. The three pack will three variations of the same car. One raw, one in primer and one in regular paint. There will be chase versions. The first run of chase will be the same deco of the regular release, but in primer black with black tampos and black wheels. Should be a great line up. The rep also told me the main store they are dealing with is TRU. SIngle pack 1:64 will be around $5, 1:24 around $20 and I can't remember the three pack price. Anyway, here are some pics
I have been waiting so long for the re-release of Muscle Machines. Loved them since day one in 1:64 scale. I'm happy that they are about to return but i see two fatal flaws in thier current marketing strategy.....
1. As mentioned above, TRU? Certainly over-priced and always under-stocked.
2. Radio Control? Did they not learn thier lesson from the first attempt at this waste of money? Seriously, drop the RC line and re-invest the money saved from that into new castings of the popular 18, 24 and 64 scales..... PLEASE!

I learned to never believe what a REP says as they only talk about what they read in flyer pamphlets.... I usually lean towards the Creators & Designers for inside details.
I chatted with the Maisto Crew / Designers at the Diescastspace Super Convention in Las Vegas Feb 22nd to the 26th and they said Maisto MMs will be ready by Summer and will be sold at TRU and Walmart... No Target or KMart as of yet.
Maisto has to get the collectors / buyers back on board with these again so that is why they are dealing with the bigger chain stores. Walmart will be the place to find many of them at the right price as we should all know >> TRU will be much higher in price. TRU may launch them at the correct price at first but TRU will not keep their price the same with Walmart, if this happens it will be the first in a very long time that TRU kept their prices comparable with Walmart.
Maisto owns everything from Action / Motorsports Authentics in castings / tools. So we will see many of the older castings at first, then we will see a few new ones during each run.
I saw-talked to Castro ( Designer ) which I knew from the Jada Toys days and we talked about Maisto bringing back the Rat Rods and his smile gave me hope as he too loves the Rat style Cars. He said they are working on new castings, he didn't say which ones but we will see soon enough. Castro knows what I like and hopefully Maisto will deliver. It's time to bring back some Old Skool Rat Rod style Cars to everyones collection. It was fun back then with Jada and it will be fun today with Maisto with new castings.
If Maisto can make something close to the Rat Fink Style Cars, I'd be a happy fat kid in a candy store... LOL

Agree completely. I also wish they wouldn't waste their time with 1/24th.
I just want 1/64's for my collection, & I know a lot of people who want 1/18's for theirs ... but I don't know anyone who collects 1/24th, or Radio Control.

The 1:24th models had the benefit of being much better detailed with full interiors. I don't know about you, but I liked the 1:24s the most.
Looking forward to seeing approximate 1/64 scale castings back in stores again.
I do hope that Walmart seeels and stocks them on a regular basis.
Forget about TRU.
