Beautiful paint job and beautiful photography.

Thanks for posting.

I appreciate you posting the colors, that's always the first question for me.

Overall fit is excellent.

Although not "required" I elected to do some very minor puttying along the hull seam and heat-ray extension.

A very simple, but well thought out kit. And, from what I can tell, extremely accurate.

Alclad copper would probably have given me a smoother, more professional-looking finish, but the Model Masters stuff is better at hiding errant dust particles and/or minor scratches/ imperfections on the primed surface. If you go with Alclad you really have to prep the hull carefully, because Alclad metallics hide nothing.

Also, unless you're planning on giving the model to your 9-year-old (like I did) I would strongly suggest clear-coating the copper finish.

Rob, I'm probably gonna start this kit next. How did you get it so the
clear parts don't show the hollow interior?
Oh, and great looking work by the way!

All I did was spray dull coat inside the clear parts.

Excellent, simple and elegant. Who said simple isn't fun.
What you do in a week end takes me a week. And I love the weathering too.

Cheers,

Alec.

Just got my kit. I think the green clear parts are on the dark side. What colors are available to give it the lighter green shown on the box without lighting it?

thanks

I suppose you could try spraying the inner areas with yellow, but I'm not sure how that would look. To me the green looks good as is.

It does look good. I was looking for a more florescent appearance. I thought of painting the inside with yellow or gloss white but I didn't want to take the chance of messing up. I've never painted with any florescent colors before and was wondering if anyone here can recommend a paint that dries as light as it goes on wet.

The green parts as they are looks like a "powered down" ship. I"m a lousy paint mixer and looking for a premixed color.
