RSS Feed Aaron Buran doubles up at the 2009 Halloween Classic

The Halloween Classic has traditionally been known as the official warm-up for the Indoor Champs that follow in November and this year the crew at the Gate put the race on in a Holiday Inn with 190 entries taking on the 96 x 40 CRC Fasttrak road circuit. As part of the Northeast Grand Slam series, the Pro classes would be limited to 10.5 brushless motors. In the Pro-12 division, CRC cars, tires and the new Advanced speed control were up to the task as Max Kuenning used his Gen-XL car to T.Q. the division. In the A-main, Aaron, Max and Associated’s Kevin Hebert battled for the win. The 3 drivers were quite close with Max slightly quicker but unfortunately for Max he had an early race board meeting dropping him to 3rd position trying to find a way around Hebert in 2nd. All the while, Buran driving steady and cool under pressure was able to keep enough distance between the battling duo to take the win. Max made a couple moves on both Kevin and Aaron but couldn’t hold on and ended up 3rd. A great result for both drivers.

In the 17.5 turn 1:12th class, Andrew Knapp was T.Q. and winner with his Gen-XL and CRC Pro-Cut tires. Andrew was on a mission all weekend with some flawless driving and with young gun Tyler Gerber had a good battle at the beginning of the main with Andrew sneaking by and opening up for a big win. Driving his way to second was part time announcer, part time R/C car driver and full time luggage rack pilot, Ian Ruggles. The man with the golden pipes, announcer extraordinaire,* put the microphone down and parked the luggage rack long enough to drive a solid race and take second.
In the World GT class, Aaron Buran continued to have a great event. Buran was T.Q. and winner of the A-main with his Gen-X 10 rolling on CRC World GT Spec tires. Joining Aaron on the podium was Mike Pulfur. With the Advanced controller not being available to the public, the units were not allowed in the stock and super stock classes. Buran used an available controller, proving the CRC chassis platform wins with any powerplant behind it.
