| What is a HobbyTalk Supporter and Lifetime Member? |
| HobbyTalk Supporters are members that donate to help keep HobbyTalk on-line and up-to-date. The time and costs to keep HobbyTalk on-line is more then I can afford by myself and HobbyTalk Supporters help cover the costs of running the site. Without their help it would be much more difficult to keep things up-to-date and running smoothly.
Lifetime Members are for those that choose to commit to a subscription that is equal to 2 1/2 times a HobbyTalk Supporter subscription.
For their support, HobbyTalk Supporters and Lifetime Members have a few extras that are not available to regular Registered members. This is because many of these extras require additional overhead which could necessitate the need to run a more powerful server if they were available to all Registered members. The subscription fees cover any upgrades that may be needed. |

* Photo Album Extras include extra disk space, larger uploads and displaying of your uploaded pictures on other web sites. Please do not abuse this last feature. While we don't mind you displaying your Photo Album pictures on other sites, extreme abuse can cause the loss of this feature for everyone. |
| What Does It Cost to Become a HobbyTalk Supporter? |
| We ask for an $20.00 per year donation for a HobbyTalk Supporter subscription. This is payable through PayPal and becomes effective immediately once we receive your payment confirmation.
If you do not use PayPal, you can send me your donation with a Money Order via regular mail, but your account will not be upgraded to HobbyTalk Supporter status until I receive the payment. Email me for details on paying by mail.
When your HobbyTalk Supporter subscription is about to expire you will be sent an email notifying you. You can then subscribe again for another year if you wish. |
| I'm a HobbyTalk Supporter, How Do I Access the Extras? |
| All of the extras are available in your User Control Panel (UserCP). Just click the UserCP link at the top of any page to get there.
Once you are in your UserCP you can find some of the extras in the Avatar area (custom avatars), the Profile area (custom user text) and the Signature area (custom signatures). |
| I'm a Regular Member, Have I Lost Any Features? |
| No you haven't! In fact, with the latest software upgrade you have more features then ever before!
One new feature is that any time a picture is attached to a message a small thumbnail is generated and placed at the bottom of the message. This lets you get a quick look at the graphic so you can decide if you want to view it full size. If you do, just click the thumbnail to larger version.
Another new feature is if you put your mouse pointer over the subject in the thread list, it will show you the first 150 or so char. in the first message. That is a great way to see what a message is about so you can decide if you want to read the complete message.
We also know that not all members may want to see all of the avatars, signatures and the thumbnails. This could be because you feel it clutters up the display or that you have a slower connection that causes the pages to load slower with all the extra graphics. You can now turn off the display of the avatars, signatures and graphic thumbnails. Just go to your UserCP, click the Options link and uncheck the Post Elements items as needed.
So you see, all Members have extra features that were not available before and at the same time we put you in control of many things to make your visit more enjoyable. |
