Heard he died today at age 69. I loved him in Law & Order. I remember him best in F/X, that's what sticks in my mind. He was famous on stage before doing movies and TV. I was really looking forward to his ne L&O spin-off.

This is just horrible news. And particularly during the holidays. My heart goes out to his family.

Jerry Orbach had logged more hours on the Broadway stage than any oher living actor. I saw him in "42nd Street" when I was in college; his performance as hard-bitten producer Julian Marsh blew me away. What a showman. He truly will be missed.

Well, crap.

And I was just reading something saying he was expected to make a full recovery.

I was shocked to read about his death. When I read that he died of cancer, I was not surprised. Most people that get cancer, die from it. My grandfather, a friend's mother, and a friend of mine all had cancer, and went through hell with treatment, and still died.

Orbach's death is a great loss, I have enjoyed on Law & Order for years. He will be missed.

I had no idea he was the French-accented singing candlestick in "Beauty and the Beast" till the Today show did a nice montage about his career. He sure was a great Lenny, and the one dependable thing among the L&O revolving-door cast.

my brother and i are huge law and order fans. we really dont even consider the pre-orbach episodes as worthy of watching, and its being very hard to get used to dennis farina (an actor who i normally like very much). for us orbach was the show; a great actor in a charater that suited him perfectly.

i had no idea of his broadway career, nor of his work on beauty and the beast until yesterday. already impressed with his talents, i was stunned. nor did i realize he was as old as he was, 69; i figured him for about a decade younger than that.

yesterday npr's news said that he will appear in the early episodes of the latest spin off "law and order: trial by jury". (needless to say theyre going to have to retool the show somewhat to fill the gap, but l&o has a very very deep bench)

Not all who have cancer die...I had it back in 1998 and am still kicking...
