Larry- I want to make both races. I'll have to start saving my pennies.

Jay is racing again. He is using Bob's 2nd car right now. That means he has to completely go through it and make everything right.

Easy on the Mr. there Lar. I don't think I'll make Chilli this year. It is too close to the Regionals & then the NORRCA paved nats are in May at Little Talladega (http://www.littletalladega.sytes.net/) & I for sure want to make that.

Looks like anywhere from 2-4 of the Columbia Thunder gang may make it up to Chilli...

I'm expecting to run 4-cell Stock and Legends, and I ordered some RC4Less Orange rims for the 19 turn chassis, but need some track time to decide on that class. (All I get to run at CT is Stock)...

It's been a while since I have been on Billy's carpet track -- anyone run there recently? Same "rug" or ??

I think I will run 4 cell stock, 6 cell stock, and 19t.

Larry -- thanks for the offer! I may need all the help I can get -- only been running stock for the last year or so..!

Looking good for Chilli... I have my room reserved, Marvin says he's coming up with me, and there are two other guys from Columbia that say they are coming! (It's been really great having a "local" carpet oval to race at this winter -- also running 12th scale onroad every week has done a lot for my reflexes too!)

I know -- I didn't either, but I think all this carpet racing this winter helped me grow some new reflexes! Honestly, the 12th scale onroad has REALLY helped me -- as I got used to the twitchy onroad beast again, I was able to start freeing up the 10th scale oval car and gain corner speed. The last time I was on the rug in Springfield, the motors, etc. were OK, but the car would just "bog" in the turns, but I needed it that way to be able to run consistent laps... NOW, I'm not really any faster on the straights, but I just don't scrub speed in the turns -- I've picked up almost two full laps at Columbia by going to harder tires on the right side and freeing up the chassis! Of course, local 'club' racing isn't a good test, as all you "Big Dogs" aren't there to lay whips on me, but I can dream! :D

Heck, at Springfield, I ran a TRC Black36 LF, TRC Blue40 RF, and Green30 rears -- now I'm running RC4Less rubber, and at least 5 points firmer on every corner (Grey40 LF, HBlack50 RF, Tan35 LR, Black45 RR). That's 50% firmer on the RR!

My weekend was a real "mix"... TQ'd and won Legends -- WooHoo! Qualified 5th in 4-cell Stock and finished 5th in the main, about 1 second behind Larry E. -- we were nose-to-tail and door-to-door for almost the entire 4 minutes! 19 turn was good in qualifying (except for the third heat, where the car became a "drift racer"!) -- then in the main, as I was a full tilt on the back straight (2nd lap), a car was stuck in the corner entry and before I could react, I T-boned it... Broke a front body post (I saw the piece go flying after the hit), but the car seemed OK... Drove away and ALMOST made another lap, when the servo saver came off (the 1st hit had stripped the screw out of the servo), and the wheel just flopped over, leaving ME dead at the corner entry... Before I could say anything, I got T-boned big time and the car went DEAD... VERY DEAD... The other car penetrated the right side of the body, hitting the ESC, breaking pieces out of the case and splitting it open AND tearing it loose from the chassis. The only good thing was that the hit also turned the switch off, maybe saving the electronics...????

The good news is that I've done what I can for the case (patched it with CA and some lexan), and it seems to still work fine! COOL!

I also had a real mix of feelings about my weekend in 4-cell stock... MY previous best at Chilli was a 45/4:04 -- in fact, I'd only run 45 laps twice (the other was a 45/4:05)... Since the normal TQ was around 47 laps, I was way off the pace... This weekend, I stepped it up a notch and had a best "competition" run of 46/4:04 (with a 46/4:01 in practice), and backed that up with a 46/4:05, and two 45's (45/4:04.57 and 45/4:01)... The BAD news is that Matt raised the bar a huge amount and TQ'd with a 49/4:03..! YIKES!

Matt's run is pretty amazing, as the track is showing it's age... very "shaggy" in spots, and some SERIOUS bumps in spots -- cars sort of "wave hopped" on the back straight like a boat on choppy water... Same track for everyone, but nobody figured it out like Matt...
