I just have to gush out some praise for this incredible composer. I first discovered her after watching a few disks of the anime Cowboy Bebop, digging the incredible jazz soundtrack, and finally wondering who composed it. I was stunned to find it was this shy little Japanese lady! I eventually got all the Bebop sound tracks. Her pieces are eclectic and varied, and all perfect for the show.

Now I find her scoring the new Ghost in the Shell: Standalone Complex. A driving mix of cyberpunk and Eurosounds, completely different from Bebop but equally dazzling.

The Ghost DVDs are being sold packaged with the movie in two different audio formats, plus a soundtrack CD (apparently a different one in each set). I didn't want to spend the extra (I have NO use for the DTS disk), but I'm gonna have to look for the CDs - the music is that amazing.

A Yoko with actual talent! Who'da thought? ;)
