View Full Version : Ultimate Emaxx Servo???
DJ1978 12-16-2004, 08:36 AM What would you consider the ideal servo for the Emaxx?
One with a combination of torque and speed that points that thing in the direction I want it to go????
tommckay 12-16-2004, 09:12 AM anything slower and with less torque than mine!
But seriously, I would think anything 150+ oz of torque, metal geared, that runs .15 or so transit time would be good I think there are some units out there offering 180oz at .10 and that would be great!. I need an upgrade too, the HiTec HS945 I have seems a little slow.
hankster 12-16-2004, 09:56 AM I would say the new Hitec HSC-5998XTG. Great specs:
Torque 4.8/6.0v: 200/250 oz.
Speed 4.8/6.0v: 0.23/0.19 SEC
ize : 1.6"x0.8"x1.4"
Weight : 2.18 oz.

This new line of servos is the first to offer a Titanium gear train. Yes, I said Titanium!!! Other features include a heavy duty carbon brush coreless motor wrapped in a metal heatsink center case to handle the harshest punishment. We didn’t stop there… the case top supports hardened pins with oilite bushings to allow this servo to withstand the all you can throw at it. More features include: 8 O-rings for excellent water and fuel resistance, a short 7” flat heavy duty lead with gold connectors, and our famous M/P (metal/plastic hybrid) first gear that won’t strip like all nylon gears, used by our competitors will. Since these servos are digital they offer up to three times the holding torque of analog servos making your vehicle respond quicker to your input and stay where you want them.

tommckay 12-16-2004, 10:00 AM Airtonics makes a nice fast (.10) torquey (200oz) digital servo! the 94358Z & 94359Z, $94.99 & $141.99 respectively at Tower, a little rich for me right now. The closest HiTec can come is the HS-5945MG at 181oz & .13, but it's 89.99 at Tower.
I looked at the HiTec HSC-5998TG that Hank posted, but couldn't find a price at Tower. I saw it a DirtBurners though and I think it was priced in the 120ish range. for that I'd lose a little torque and gain some speed with the Airtronics 94358Z.
hankster 12-16-2004, 10:40 AM It's $115 at tower. They also have the 5997 with 180oz/.14sec for about the same price.
erik z 01-30-2005, 06:34 PM go with jr racing servo .16 speed 150 oz $49.99 i think its the 670 servo look at horizon website
snickers 01-30-2005, 11:36 PM Whatever you decide to get, i would definitely suggest a Digital Servo, i put one in my MAXX and it was a night and day difference from an analog
bro460 02-10-2005, 05:17 AM I've had my E-maxx for 2yrs 1mth and this truck is awesome. 7in tires, HV-Maxx, spool, hardened gears and now will be upgrading to aluminium and steel parts. I am running a HiTec 945 and this thing is perfect for my truck and that was with the original EVX system and normal tires and works very well with the bigger tires. With any servo it is only as good as the power you put to it and i'm useing Venom 3300mihd there cheap but are good as well. Since I went to the HV-Maxx setup this truck destroys my friend's Savage .25 and for his 1 1/4 tank I get approx 20-27mins runtime depending on my driving style or full speed driving. Topspeed is between 39-42mph depending on the gearing and tires beings used. I find that a bigger gear or larger tires and stay in first for most bashing is perfect and I get longer runtime almost 31mins and still keep up to the Savage.25
patcollins 02-14-2005, 06:51 PM Does anyone think a servo with 105 oz-in torque is enough for a Maxx?
snickers 02-14-2005, 07:44 PM Sounds a little low to me
tommckay 02-15-2005, 08:33 AM I dunno, A Futaba 9402 has 110oz and does OK in a maxx provided the proper steering gear is in place.
patcollins 02-19-2005, 11:45 PM Decided to get a JR 8550, I have always had such good luck with JR servos. Still run 8 year old 4735's in all my electric vehicles.
