I've got a 1984 edition of Auto World which contains G Plus cars (of course) and they were selling for $14.95 each. It seems after looking at ebay for a while that these cars go for a really reasonable price 20 years later even in mint condition considering they could and would be considered collector items.
The magna-tractions, Super II's, etc. though go for a considerably higher price when taking into account what THEY sold for way back when.

The earlier Magnatraction cars have more linkage to the pancake era and are simply more desired by collectors. Nostalgia coupled the ability and willingness to pay for what they covet go hand in hand with driving up the prices on the earlier cars. Some G-Plus cars are very collectible. I personally consider the G-Plus cars to be some of the finest engineered and nicest looking cars that Aurora ever produced. They were hampered by the fact that they came out at a time when the hobby had declined significantly in popularity. Plus Aurora chose to cost reduce the finish of these cars with those hideous stick on paper decals. The G-Plus was also a costly chassis to produce.
The G-Plus and the Super G-Plus variations of it were the pinnicle of Aurora chassis design and served as the prototype for all inline magnet cars that have come since the G-plus hit the street in 1975. The evolution of production pancake chassis cars stopped with the Magnatraction (1974) but the legacy and evolution of the G-Plus continues with the latest magnet cars being produced today. The Aurora G-Plus was an amazingly innovative design from a technological standpoint even if it doesn't have the "warm and fuzzy" nostalgic appeal of the pancake powered cars.
The Super II is the ultimately warm and fuzzy car. The shiny box it came in even has a felt like fuzzy lining. If you buy a Super II thinking you are getting a legendary high performance race car you will be sorely disappointed. But warm and fuzzy nostalgia sells, so the Super II is a big winner on the E-Bay circuit.

I do too and they hold a dearer (is that a word?) place in my heart than any other car they produced. I suppose like music, it all depends on the time period in which you grew up and what was around you/available to you in those fond days of youth. The G plus cars catch my attention on ebay more than any other but I do have a soft spot for certain body styles of the others.
