View Full Version : New Years Day Race @ New Castle, Indiana
mGraves 12-14-2004, 07:37 PM Butch and Burke announced the Annual New Years Day Race. The track will be open on New Years Eve for practice. I will post times when I hear them. If anyone hears anything feel free to inform us all. We had some great guys there for the Toys for Tots race and hopefully will have another great race. I hear rumblings of the great "Juan" making his debut appearence in a Leading Edge ride. To anyone who hasn't been there the track is a super smooth flat ozite carpet track. I believe it is a 168' runline. It's very similar to the Snowbirds track in layout. Just a little shorter. It's a good track to practice and warm-up for the big one in Feb. Hope to see a big turnout. see you all soon. -- Matt Graves
Mark Recio 12-15-2004, 05:23 PM FWIW, I spoke to the 'Grand Floridian' this week and he said the birds track run-line he hears most often is 168'. I believe NC might be a little narrower in the corners, but not much at all.
I'm down for 19-turn and 1/12th scale (mod or 19-turn).
See you all then!
Monti007 12-15-2004, 06:11 PM I have measured the run line of New Castle between 159 to 160 feet on several attempts. But who cares, all I know is that I am stilt and Sonny is not! I can not wait to run on New Years day! Anyone want to run some 6 cell mod with me?
-Monti-
j21moss 12-15-2004, 06:53 PM count me in for 4 cell stock and Indycar
mGraves 12-15-2004, 07:09 PM Jerry you better cycle the 1700's for the New Years day race. You might want to ask if they are gonna run Road Wizards. You might even want to bring the Blackfoot. LOL I'd love to see your garage. LOL
mGraves 12-15-2004, 07:40 PM Hey Monti -- Call Zubie....he was talking about a 6 cell Mod ride for snowbirds. I don't know his plans he may be running at Classic that day.
j21moss 12-15-2004, 09:01 PM hahahha.. that's it.. The WIDE MRP Nascar is coming out... so make room Matti!!! LOL
Danny B 12-16-2004, 12:07 AM Going to talk it over with the Crew Chief, I would like to come we'll see....
Monti, if we do make it i'll have my 6-cell car ready for you.
Xpressman 12-16-2004, 12:35 AM Did I hear 6-cell???? Someone has to get Zubie there.
j21moss 12-16-2004, 02:23 PM I rather run 6 cell
Mark Recio 12-16-2004, 04:56 PM Danny,
If you can make it, bring the little unit along for the ride too!
haysreeling 12-16-2004, 06:55 PM Hey Mark we got the dodge r/t bodies in today, we can ship you one tomorrow if you want, post back here or call 262-691-4347. Your name and address was in the computer. Thanks!!!!
Hays JR
huffrcman 12-16-2004, 10:58 PM If you guys all join the Moose you can run over for drinks between rounds!!!! LOL
mGraves 12-17-2004, 12:47 AM That's what liquor stores are for........you drink before you get there..duhhh
Dwight Smith 12-17-2004, 02:36 PM Hey...I'm hearing the doors will open Saturday at 8:00 with racing at 11:00. Makes it kind of tough to do if you are coming Saturday only. Just a question for everyone. With New Years Day falling on Saturday...why wouldn't we use the normal Saturday show times with racing at 5:00 (or is it 6:00 can't remember). Would make it alot easier for out of towners to make it. If you agree....can someone talk to B&B and see if we can move the times back. Just a thought.........
Dwight
mGraves 12-17-2004, 03:05 PM It would give you more time to let the hangover wear off!! Doesn't sound like a bad idea to me.
Z-Main Loser 12-17-2004, 07:07 PM 6 cell stock? Looking for any oval thats still run 6 cell. Also, if anyone is interested in 6 cell stock, my home track in Elkhart, In at Pete Russell's R/C Speedway is have a show on the Jan. 15. This is one of the very few carpet oval tracks still run 6 cell of any kind. If interested ask me about the 15th.

Dwight Smith 12-17-2004, 08:20 PM Now all we need is B&B to sign up for it.......can someone say something to them....
mGraves 12-17-2004, 08:23 PM I nominate Jason! I don't have Butch's #. and I can't ever understand Burke on the phone or pa system.
mGraves 12-17-2004, 08:25 PM Plus I'm gonna be there, but probably will just be wrenching on "Juan's" car. No wheelin' that week.
haysreeling 12-17-2004, 08:38 PM If they started at 6 it might be possible for me to make it, depends on how the night before goes. hehehhe. Mr. Kemp will you be in attendance??????

Mark Recio 12-20-2004, 11:14 AM FWIW, I hear 'Mission: Ego Repair' has concluded with outstanding results. Will the stock wunderkind from Champaign now try it out with rip???
Bring that pitty you call a 12th scale with too...I'm done for awhile with the big car. Must get ready for Vinton =)
S Brown 12-20-2004, 11:22 AM Rip will be applied via my newfound batch of Orion brushes. Now if I can make it turn will be in good shape.
This weeks mission de-pitty my 1/12 scale ride before the 1st
Merry Christmas to all,
.
Danny B 12-20-2004, 03:53 PM Could someone post the address info for the track.
also, is there any practice on friday or friday night??
Lastly, My club is having an oval only race on Jan. 2nd. It is a second leg to a point series deal that we are running with the club in Dubuque, IA. There will be a great crowd of stock, 19t 0 degree, modified and probably 1/12 19t. Anyone gonna make the round triP???? I am!
Mark Recio 12-20-2004, 04:08 PM New Castle Moose Lodge
605 New York Ave
New Castle, Indiana 47362
Take IN-3 from I-70 N through New Castle. First street past train bridge is New York. Follow New York for 2-3 blocks, Moose lodge is on RIGHT hand side. The track is in the back right portion of the building as it sits on the street
Dwight Smith 12-20-2004, 10:23 PM I'll be there NYD! I'm up for 4C Mod and 6C Mod...I'll have the little bullet too but it would be tough to run all three. Monti/Danny...are you serious about 6C or do you just want to test and tune during practice?
Let me know...
Dwight
Danny B 12-20-2004, 11:35 PM I'm up for racing 6-cell. Sounds like there will be enough cars to run two classes. Bout' the only real way to know anything cause running 6-cell with any other classes on the track involves a lot of lifting.
Monti007 12-20-2004, 11:42 PM I want to race 6 cell...I am not going to have any new sticks or anything but I figure if I can get to 3:45 on dead shorted stuff I'll be money come fresh sticks.
-Monti-
Dwight Smith 12-21-2004, 12:17 AM Monti...I'm in the same boat.....will be fun anyway....we can race to the 3:30 mark!
Mark Recio 12-21-2004, 08:43 AM Jim,

AutoDynamiX 12-22-2004, 11:34 AM All (even Nelson),
