I have a Craftsman with a Kohler 22.5 hp v twin, and a hydrostatic drive. It was a commercial mower, so it was abused, but seems to run and drive well. Question: The wiring was jury-rigged and the 50" deck is missing parts and needs bearings. The fenders and hood is dented. Should I part it out or fix?

fix it man. get it back right and it will fetch a nice price to a residential person. fender and hood should be easy to knock out with a hammer.

If the engine will start and the hydrostatic works good, then I would say fix it. And trust me...a few dents and dings aren't going to keep someone from buying it if you end up selling it. I've sold mowers with all kinds of dents in them. As long as the mower runs and drives good, somebody will buy it no matter how it looks.
