BallisticBill 12-23-2004, 11:37 AM The new web site for the Omaha Nebraska Hobbytown HobbyPLEX is www.hthpr.com (http://www.hthpr.com) It has the flyer for the upcomming ROAR Region 8 Carpet Oval Championship in March.
17driver 12-23-2004, 06:32 PM Not to start anything here but after looking at the flyer they post stock heats as 5 min.Acording to page A-8 of the ROAR rule book it states 4min qualifiers,4min mains.
burbs 12-23-2004, 06:45 PM that is true.. 4 minute races are roar policy... i dont think it can be changed...
most tracks do not run 5 minute races.. what about the guys who normally run 4 minute races also in the region... i was thinking of getting the ok to come to the region 8 race, since region 5 is so messed up...
hyperdriver 12-23-2004, 07:59 PM We will have to ask our new director and get the official word about it from him. You guys should come down here and check this track out. Best carpet I have ever ran on.
RACER X 01-10-2005, 11:11 AM ttt :freak:
burbs 01-23-2005, 07:50 PM Has anyone talked to the region director about the 4 minute rule, and the flyer saying 5 minute yet??? thanks
hyperdriver 01-23-2005, 10:33 PM Yep gonna be five minutes for stock. Amounts to more track time for me.
FroBoy 01-24-2005, 01:16 AM Yes, stock is going to be 5 minutes for sure. It was put in as a rule deviation and granted by the V.P.
Sorry for not answering sooner. I have never been on this message board before. My bad.

Region 8 director
burbs 01-31-2005, 09:28 PM well im out then.. thanks anyway.. ROAR shouldnt even have a rule book anynmore... seems like every race they hold some rule is changed or not used... seems there more worried about attendance and other things then what is on the black and white..
FroBoy 02-01-2005, 02:36 AM Well, good luck to you then. Honestly, I don't understand what your angry at. We asked for the rule deviation because everyone that I know of around here runs stock for five minutes. It has nothing to do with attendance. There are people travelling from all over to come to this race because it is one of the nicest facilities ever and because the competion is some of the best, not because of an extra minute in stock. Sorry.
MURDOCKRC 02-09-2005, 11:13 PM I guess I mentioned on the other thread but here it goes again. Dont let that extra min. scare you off Mike. In stock you wont even know it is there. There is always the possibility of something else causing a bigger issue than that min that weekend or any race weekend for that matter. Rules are rules and Im all for following them ofcourse but there are such things as flared bodies, stickers being pulled off the brushless, wrong stock arms in the wrong cans. The list can go on but lets not get to excited about 1 min in stock. If it were 19 turn then I would have a problem with that one but not in stock really. But on the flip side I do see your point. A rule is a rule and we should run under those rules I guess. I would have liked to see the stock class be handout anyway. I know that adds cost but it does keep things fair. Lets make this a good race and have FUN. That is what it is all about.

I've been a loyal R/C racer since 1986. I started racing oval at hobbytown back then and we raced 4 minutes in stock. It is now 2005, 19 years later and Roar is still running 4 minutes in stock class. With the technology we have in batteries (1400 then, 3300 now) and motors, we should be running 5 minutes in stock class. We run 5 minutes in stock class at our local track and still have over 100 seconds of run time left in our batteries.
Roar allows stock touring to run 5 minutes so why can't the oval cars run 5 minutes also? I think it's time for Roar to step up to the plate in the new millenium and allow stock oval class to run 5 minute races. We've been running 4 minutes long enough and now it's time to evolve. I know that I am not alone in this matter; we have raced in different states that race 5 minutes locally already.
Roar, it's time to move ahead to the new future of R/C racing.

Stagger2 02-21-2005, 01:01 AM Amen speedpunk, I agree whole heartedly. 5 min is easily acheivable with modern tech, and with B/L we could even move into the 6 min range with little to no effort. ROAR it's time for change.

FroBoy 02-21-2005, 03:01 AM Hey Chad...was up.
Speed, I totally agree, too. Which is why we put in for the rule deviation. Region 8 is past the plate and on its way to first.
RACER X 02-21-2005, 10:42 PM 19 T needs to be 5 min to !!
MURDOCKRC 02-21-2005, 11:36 PM It wouldnt matter if it were 4 or 5 min. races. My personal take is this. I want to run weekly races the same as a sanctioned event as far as time. That way you can be tuning in case you host or travel to a regional or national event. That is probably the best way to look at it I think because I dont care either way but I dont want to run 4 or 5 min and then go to a sanctioned race and the time be 1 min. longer or shorter.
Keep this in mind though. And this is just a view point to think about. An extra minute brings the battery war into place even with the batteries of today. This is more so true if 19 turn would go to a min longer that is for sure but stock would have the same effects. Most likely this would not be a factor in weekly local events but in a regional or national if most certainly would.
FroBoy 02-22-2005, 01:29 AM Yeah, I think it may not be time for 5 min 19t oval, but stock is long overdue. I was able to get 59 laps in plexcup with really old 3300's and a not-so-good motor. So an extra minute wouldn't start the battery wars up that much.
Besides, the wars have really calmed down since roar stopped legalizing every cell the moment they came out. All 3300's are pretty much the same depending on which matcher you go with. The same will probably be true of the 37 and 3600's.
philb1 02-23-2005, 07:25 AM I would like to give THANKS to the ROAR officials for letting us run 5 minutes at our regional.
With manufacturers new products constantly on the market, racers wanting to go faster with new and better equipment,ROAR is out to maintain some consistency in racing. I may not agree with all of ROAR's rules, but that's OK. if I run at tracks that are not sanctioned by ROAR, I go by their rules for their racers.
Thanks again to Kenny B and everyone at ROAR for hearing our side of the story.
