TX Street Racer 12-09-2004, 06:49 PM Silver chrome Nissan JLXT with metallic blue decals and rear wing. It's $19.99. Isn't that the same chrome Nissan Skyline that was talked about a few months ago as being a chase car of sorts??? I think it was SJC that talked about it..... dlw 12-09-2004, 06:57 PM Just ordered mine. If you're a member, get yours now. Pass the Tjets!! NICK DANGER micyou03 12-09-2004, 11:30 PM I'm passing on this one myself. I just figured I would let everyone here know. Marty 12-10-2004, 07:54 AM I got one just to support the JL Slot car program. Rumor has it that RC2 is monitoring the slot car activity to see if they will continue the program. I do not like the car. I do not like the chrome finish. If RC2 sees this: -make the JL Club Members cars more realistic looking. The detail on the Mustang is great. IMHO the chrome finish cars are too toy like. Yes they are toys, but do they have to look like it when the option is to look more realistic? -monitor this board and see what the people on this board want. We are not all knowing or all seeing, but we like are slot cars. -I like the idea of offering either a slot car or a die cast car with our membership. MOO Marty TX Street Racer 12-10-2004, 08:05 AM I got one just to support the JL Slot car program. Rumor has it that RC2 is monitoring the slot car activity to see if they will continue the program. If that is truly the case then they might consider watching what most of us slot guys have interest in here at HT.......I'd say 75% of us are interested in primarily Tjets......at least by judging from the cars we mostly display or talk about getting. I know we talked about the club and such a couple weeks ago....but I'm simply not going to throw away my money on a club....or a slotcar that I have simply no interest in just in the hopes that maybe something nicer comes along as an exclusive from the club. Maybe some of you guys can afford to do so...but I know I can't $20 or not...it's still $20 ;) I'm probably in the minority...but that's ok..... :) AfxToo 12-10-2004, 10:18 AM I really like that chrome & blue Skyline a lot. One of these leaked out a few months ago and sold online for a pretty good price. Same scenario as the black & gold Mustang that preceded it. Maybe JL is purposely leaking these CC cars ahead of time to guage the demand. They must have liked what the saw with both of them. From a cost standpoint the JLCC is a no brainer good deal. Any extra cars that you can buy will sell on E-Bay for more than you bought them for. Skipping a couple of visits to Taco Bell for the opportunity to buy a limited edition slot car ain't a bad deal at all. You know, just the other day as I was sitting in circle of Mopar lovers at a Mopar enthusiasts club we came to the conclusion that more than 80% of us exclusively drive Mopar automobiles and that there's really little reason for any other make of auto to be produced. Sounds reasonable to me. TK Solver 12-10-2004, 12:32 PM If they offered cars based on what people like, they would change the tires and wheels on the TJets so they look and run better right out of the package. The bodies are fantastic. Why not finish them off? They could probably charge an extra $3-$5 per car if they did. I prefer the JLXTs and hope they expand that offering. They appeal to casual buyers and tweakers alike. It seems like a no-brainer to me. The market for the TJets has to be much narrower outside a group like this. Most people I have over to race with are not impressed with the way the TJets rattle around the track. They immediately prefer the JLXTs. I assure them that over time they'd get used to the TJets. I see pictures of TJets that people modify for racing and the front axles/wheels are extended and the tires are all changed. Why can't they produce cars that are reliable, appealing toys AND collectible and tweakable? It seems like the JLXTs are the closest thing to meeting those requirements right out of the box. Regarding the Club Nissan... It's hard for me to be believe that the majority of their club members are chrome Nissan lovers. People who spend the extra to join the club probably are not looking for that type of car for their collection. And the next person that bids more than $20 plus the price of a club membership for one of these cars should have their head examined by that little old lady who was on the Tonight Show last night... TX Street Racer 12-10-2004, 06:12 PM From a cost standpoint the JLCC is a no brainer good deal. Any extra cars that you can buy will sell on E-Bay for more than you bought them for. Skipping a couple of visits to Taco Bell for the opportunity to buy a limited edition slot car ain't a bad deal at all. How much above the actual MSRP are you making on one of those club cars....$10? It's hardly worth the effort IMHO...... Also I rarely eat fast food....lol .... it's just what I see as a principle. Just because someone calls something a "limited edition" doesn't mean that I have to have it....... I pass on alot of things because I can simply live without it.....but hey, if you can't, and you're making a fortune off of reselling those JLCC cars then please, by all means buy up my share as well. ;) boss9 12-10-2004, 08:45 PM Hey there- I've already been through this when joining the club for the black Mustang. Unfortunately, When I joined, they didn't offer a slot-car as the incentive so I paid a bit to get the cars and had to settle for a DC club car. I think this offer is damn good my self. I just received the club news-letter today and they said this slot car is limited to a thousand pieces. A miniscule amount for the market and for RC-2 to produce. Although I'm not a fan of the tuners and won't be purchasing this one, I think it's status regulates it as an instant collectable. I'm quite positive if I bought this I could recoup my investment (and maybe a decent profit) immediately--no questions asked, but I'm not into the buying/selling game. I think I proved my allegiance to RC-2 by purchasing two of the last ones' and don't worry about their conception on this one because of it's exclusivity--it will no doubt, sell out. On the other hand if this had of been an SVT Focus, I'd have been all over it. ;) Cheers.. AfxToo 12-10-2004, 09:19 PM TK, I've never made a penny selling a slot car. I'm just in it as a consumer. I fear that if I start into the selling aspect of the hobby it wouldn't be a hobby any more. The fact that I pay some money for something I get so much enjoyment from is enough for me. I don't have time for wheeling and dealing either. But I know plenty of people see things differently, like the fact that selling gives you the ammo for some more serious buying and collection building. That's cool too. Everyone's playing at the level where they get the most enjoyment for what they are willing to invest. Some people care a great deal that a car is limited production. Some don't. Replace "fast food" for anything else that falls into the realm of "something you don't really have to think much about" and that was my whole point with the $20 for JLCC membership. It's not a lot of money, it's a marketing promotion that gives JL easy access to a number of advid consumers and offers these consumers a nice little perk now and then in return. Offering up a special edition car to the JLCC members is a benefit to those who care about it. And like I said, those members who want to parlay some of these limited edition cars into extra cash can and will do so. Yeah, nobody is going to retire at 35 with the money that they make from dealing limited edition collectors cars but it could pay for something else that you really want. vBulletin® v3.8.7, Copyright ©2000-2012, vBulletin Solutions, Inc.
