I recently got my not so old Tomy Afx thunderloop thriller set out and found that both turbo cars that had come with it had the pinion gears shredded and I was wondering if you guys could tell me what I should replace them with, would metal parts be better and where can I get parts on the net that will be shipped to Australia as my local hobby shops don't supply anything to do with slot cars.

Where are you in Aus?
Mate, i am in Sydney, and have a stack of parts for the cars.
Have you tried Big W? They sell cars, track, some sets, and some of them sell a spare parts pack.
If that does not help, i can send you the rear pinion gears and a matching pair of axles for nothing.

Robbo, it looks like Andrijj has you taken care of, and that's very cool. The think to know about the Tomy pinions are that they're a slightly different pitch than what Tyco uses...so you want to use Tomy pinions if you can. The good news is that they're pretty durable, too.
Those cars don't merit a metal pinion gear, but if you ever need to get more and are willing to shop for enough stuff to make it worthwhile to have it shipped to you from the USA, go to ScaleAuto.com: those guys are closely related to the distributor for Tomy cars and have the pinions in stock.
