Hey Guys,

My car, when it comes out of the corner, if I dont let it float just right, it snaps, and sets itself straight, and its KILLING my exit speed. Its a ksg & I'm running a finishline med sprung steel t-plate. HPI center shock 60 weight, silva gold. 30 weight & blue springs on the side shocks. Pod is straight up. Any one have any ideas what causes this and any possible soulutions?

Thanks!

You can try softer Center spring and lighter oil, If i am thinking of this correctly this should help

I'm guessing you're running flat carpet. Sounds like the side springs are too soft allowing it to roll to much weight to the right front. I would try going to Assc. golds and maybe even reds depending on how much traction the track has. Also sounds like you are pretty stiff on teh center shock spring but I doubt that is the cause of this problem. What tires are you running? Thats also a big part of it.

Get a few runs on your tires and check the Right Rear, if the tire is coning bad (left side is bigger than the right side of the tire) then the car is loose. To me the car never felt loose but that was the case the car was breaking free on exit.

I had that problem recently and tightened the car up and made it alot better on exit.
To tighten the car, either try a softer rear tires, widen the rear track width or try a softer center t-plate setup.

I race on flat carpet...all different sizes...same prob at any track. I usually run A white or grey LR and a black RR. I have a Harder black on the right front.

How wide of a Track width would you say to run?

Thanks!

PS..haha Crazytony..very funny...where were you Saturday?

mark what brand of tires are you running??? compound wise it sounds like tm's...

when i ran for tm.. i ran 3 whites and a black right front.. this worked best everywhere...

bsr run 3 whites and a gray, gold or silver right front depending on traction...

jacos run white rears, gray left and black right front...

sounds to me your rear traction is not there.... the rear end breaks out for a second, then hooks back up... as a wise man always told me.. PLANT THE REAR AND MAKE IT STEER....

reartrack i like to keep between 7 7/8 and 8 inches wide.. i try to keep the left rear lined up with the left front tire.. if you cant get it inline, i like to be less then 1/4 out... right rear i like it to be out about 1/4 from right front....

Mark,

I would agree w/ the side shock springs. i don't remember seeing too many KSG's w/ blue side shock springs. I used to have the same problem at Vinton. If you put in a little more tweak it would help alot on exit.

Hey Mark try the pod in the offset postion. If u run jaco's run white rears and a grey left front and a black right front. You might want to try a harder black on the right front. Try a #2 piston with 45 to 50 wt oil and a gold HPI spring. Also u might want to try gold ass side springs with 35 wt oil. I think the car just feels more consistant everywere I go in the offset pos. Not sure if it a flat track but run a red wolf sring on the left and a green on the right. What is your shock angel on the side shocks. Try the 3rd hole down. Shim the right rear 80ths and the right rear 40ths. That should get u around the track. Thats pretty much the setup I ran this past weekend snd last year at the birds.

Thanks for all the great advice guys!! I will be trying alot of your suggestions this Sunday.

How many grams/oz (I use grams) to you guys run on the left rear? Also what kind of pre-load are you putting on the center shock? That puts weight on the front of the car....correct?

Thanks Again Guys!

How much are you compounding the right front, what tire sizes are you running?

To tighten the car, either try a softer rear tires, widen the rear track width or try a softer center t-plate setup.
Maybe I'm wrong, but I always thought it would loosen the car the wider the rear track width is.

it depends on how you widen the rear.. right side or left side... it also depends on how wide it is in relation to the front..

mark,

Personally, i have never had any luck w/ less than 320 grams in the LR. i usually run about 350-370 grams LR on a fairly circular track (vinton, dubuque) and less on a paperclip track, say around 320-340 (galesburg). you could also play w/ shimming the LR out in 1mm increments. this will give a similar 'feel' to adding tweak. neither of these adjustments should take away steering on corner entrance. what i have found happening on the car when it 'snaps' on exit is the LR momentarily comes off the ground. hence, the tweak adjustment.

Could it be "pushy loose"? Pushes and then front end finally bites?
