 Mark
Josh Cyrul 12-06-2004, 09:16 AM The track is 36' X 82' flat track. We are working on the web site and I will post pictures of the place on here soon.
Danny B 12-09-2004, 10:41 PM Hey Josh,
Congrats on getting the nats! Look forward to coming out a couple times before and then the nats. Probably see you in Jan. for that warm-up race.

EAMotorsports 12-10-2004, 12:06 AM For you guys that havent seen the place yet its Awsome...The track is supppper smooth and the details to the hobbyshop and track are excellent. Josh and Angel (and anyone else who helped out) done a great job there. The Nats should be great!!
EA
Jamie Hanson 03-14-2005, 03:18 PM I figured it was getting close to Nats and that this should be updated.
S Brown 03-14-2005, 07:07 PM I know previous oval weekends have generated smaller crowds then expected, but I have talked with a lot of people who are going to the Nats this year. Sounds like it will be a decent turnout so lets start getting an idea of who's running what.
Roll Call:
1/10th mod and 1/12th mod for me.
"Frank Ulbrik" 03-14-2005, 07:47 PM 1/10th mod for me.
1/10th stock for Chris
Mike??????prolly Mod
Jamie Hanson 03-14-2005, 09:07 PM Mark me down for 10th 19turn and 12th scale. Not sure if I am going to run 12th 19turn or mod yet.
Danny B 03-15-2005, 07:12 PM Will the track be available for practice on Mon. and Tues? The flyer says wed. as the first day of prac...we need to make hotel reservations for the week...it would help to know.
rccarpy 03-16-2005, 10:43 AM Yeah I was wondering the same thing, I'll be there Tuesday if there open.....
10th and 12th mod for me....
1/10th 19 turn for sure and maybe 1/10 Brushless
Danny B 03-16-2005, 04:16 PM The flyer actually says Thursday as the first day of practice! Josh said this will stand unless a lot of people talk about wanting at least Wednesday to be open for practice. Right now he only has 15 pre-entries kinda makes it hard to have a national with no idea how many cars there will be...sent mine today so 16...lol
The Jet 03-16-2005, 10:31 PM Right now he only has 15 pre-entries kinda makes it hard to have a national with no idea how many cars there will be...sent mine today so 16...lol
Holy cow...I don't really want to drive 10 hours to race against just a few people...I guess I'll hold out on reservations for a bit to see if the car count get's up there.
HMMMMMMMM...

jkohan 03-16-2005, 11:26 PM Bret, by judging the "Poll" numbers on what classes people are running, just the racers on Hobbytalk account for 79 entries. If you include the racers not on Hobblytalk, the number of racers is looking good.
If you are willing to race for a national title, then do so. I agree that it's better to race a larger turnout then a smaller one, but none the less, a national title is on the line.... The racers will show... IMHO
Besides, 80% of race entries always come in under the wire (At least by my experences)
haysreeling 03-17-2005, 12:11 AM I'm pretty sure i was told that there were only 50 preentries for the 2003 carpet nats at Trackside in Milwaukee WI, and they ended up having like 170ish entries.... can guarantee that more ppl will sign up at the door than by pre registering. I'll be there for 19 Turn.
Hays JR
bluelineracer 03-17-2005, 07:58 AM 19 turn for me....entry being mailed soon.

OK, thats better  I was just a bit scared there for a minute.
I've been a big fan of Quality not Quanity. I've said I'd rather race a class of 6...(All national champs) than a class of 80 beginners. You have much more to be proud of when you beat the fast guys.
I just wanted a big group of maniacs to go play...Guess I'll get my wish afterall  .
See you in about a month.

rccarpy 03-21-2005, 08:36 PM I sent my entry in Sat. So is there any word on what day Josh will open for sure.Alot of people seem to want to show up on Tuesday, wich would be great for me.....

Xpressman 03-22-2005, 07:02 PM Don't forget to get those entries in as late fees start if they are not post marked before March 24.
And it is stated on the entry that practice starts on Thurs. April 21.
beekman 03-22-2005, 07:36 PM danny call me asap.i am sending mine out tomorrow
jason crist 03-23-2005, 10:24 AM Xpressman
I see you said $20.00 late fee....
wow that's alot.
I know the track doesn't want to have alot of people show up at once and then it pro-long the race later, but won't there be enough time before the first Qualifier to get everyone not pre entered in the computer?
(I don't know I don't run a race just asking)
or maybe lower the late fee some if you have to charge one.
I know of some people around here for reason's can't send in entry before the 24th of march and want to go but paying a late fee of $20 and the $65 for stock and then $30 for membership thats alot of money.
I'm just asking you because you seem to be the guy speaking for Halo Hobbies.....
Last question for ya
how far is Sleep Inn from the track ?
thanks for the help

I'll answer the one last first. Sleep Inn is about 5 mins depending on red lights. Not far at all. Very nice place.
Directly from the ROAR National Guidelines:
4.5. The entry form must contain the following information:
Registration Deadline Date (1 month prior to the first day of qualifying).
Notice of the $20.00 late registration fee.
There is more to that rule but that is the statements in the rule book.
and also:
7.3. For all required classes, a late fee of $20 applies to all entries postmarked or otherwise received after the Registration Deadline Date (30 days before the first day of controlled practice for the event). The late fee applies only to the racer’s first entry when more than one class is entered. Racers entering late must be called or otherwise told about the late fee. They must know about this additional fee before they come to the event.
So if you want to be technical about it the entry form is wrong as the late fee is starting 30 days before the last day of the event.
The late fee is put in place so the track will have a better knowledge of how many people are attending and can plan accordingly. We would love to have the max allowed entries of 350 and do not want to turn anyone away.
If anyone has any other questions please feel free to ask here and I will get you the answers you need.

Monti007 03-23-2005, 10:09 PM I have seen the late few waved in the past for nationals.

VA.RACER 03-24-2005, 09:13 PM I need some help with questions on Airports in the area.
Is the Toledo Express the best choice and closest to the track?
How much driving time from there to track?
What time will mains start on Sunday? Trying to see if it's possible to book a flight on Sunday afternoon.
Thanks
erock1331 03-24-2005, 10:45 PM VA racer, single A mains so odds are should be done fairly early.
At the arcor race we started at 10:00 AM Sunday and had Triple A mains and were done by 3:00. We had about 80 racers.
tw78911sc 03-25-2005, 11:26 AM VA Racer
Toledo express is probably closest, but may not be cheapest. Detroit-Wayne County has many more flights often cheaper. Adds another 15 minutes to the track. Toledo almost always requires a hop to Cinncinati or someplace else, where as Detroit can often offer direct flights.
Tom
tw78911sc 03-25-2005, 11:29 AM Driving times from Toledo Express, between 30 - 45 minutes, Detroit, 45 - 60 minutes
Xpressman 03-25-2005, 11:44 PM I just thought I would give you guys an update. The late fee is not being waved and will be imposed on all entries not POST MARKED or RECIEVED by March24.
I know some have asked about the brushless class and all brushless will be ran in mod as that is what the ROAR rule book states and we are going by the ROAR rule book. The only deviation from the rules is that any stock car type body will be allowed with roof height being from the table to the top of the body at it's highest point.
Halo will be running the normal schedule with oval practice on thursdays and oval racing/practice on fridays. There are also only 6 practice days left so come on out and get'r dailed in.
The track will be staying the same length it is now as that is what the people that have been practicing have ran.
If you have any further questions please send me a PM and I will get back with you as soon as I can. This should be a great event and can't wait to see everyone there.
Brian
mbeach2k 03-26-2005, 03:43 AM what do you mean all the brushless will be run in the mod class, the brushless 4300 is no where near as fast as the mod class. the 4300 was and is suppose to be run as a seperate class
Xpressman 03-26-2005, 09:03 AM what do you mean all the brushless will be run in the mod class, the brushless 4300 is no where near as fast as the mod class. the 4300 was and is suppose to be run as a seperate class
Under the current ROAR rules ALL brushless systems are to be run with modified. ROAR for 2005 did away with the separate class for brushless and brushed motors. Also ALL brushless motors still have to be approved just like their brushed counterparts.
mbeach2k 03-26-2005, 11:40 AM so what would be the point of going to the nats if us brushless guys are just going to be thrown in with the mod class and be speed bumps for the guys running real mod motors, wow sounds so fun!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Rocketman 03-26-2005, 04:18 PM mbeach2k your dealing with roar.... it seems right now there very unorganized on things right now .. and it sounds like the factory teams are allowed to do what they want with new products ..... as a local racer your just that a little man ...
mbeach2k 03-26-2005, 08:14 PM yes but there is a point here, when we went there to race the regionals we had a seperate 4300 brushless class and we were told that if there would be 10 people to enter the brushless class for the national it would be run as an exibition class, and we were also told that if there was not enough people to enter the brushless class that we be refunded our money. never did anyone say that we would be dumped into the mod class, because if we were none of us would have ever entered to be rolling speed bumps. we do not want our equipment damaged or anyone elses for that matter, we have alot of money tied up in a hobby to have fun not break parts !!!!!!!!!!!!!
That my opinion and yes i am just one person, but you can either grow a hobby or destroy a hobby one person at a time, I personally would like to see it grow I enjoy the hobby and most of the people in it.
Xpressman 03-27-2005, 01:35 AM Some have asked why the late fee was not waived. The late fee is set in place so the host track will have an indication of how many racers will be attending so they can order the trophies and set up the pit area correctly. This si nothing new as it has been in place for all ROAR Nats. Additionally it has been known since sept. that Halo Hobbies was going to host the Oval Nats and the dates have been on the ROAR webpage since the first of the year.
As for the brushless motors. At Regionals you are pretty much allowed to run whatever classes the host track wants to. If you notice there were some classes like touring that were not even ran but on the entry. For Nats you are are not allowed to run more then 6 classes for the event with 3 being required. Those being Mod 10th, Mod 12th, and stock 10th. Roar made the ruling that all brushless motors would be ran in the modified class. It doesn't matter if it is either of the Novak systems, the Reedy, or any other ones out there. At the time of the entry form this was the information that was available and was the decision was made not to have a separate brushless class as the ROAR rules state they are to run in mod now. I am sorry for any confusion that this has lead to as Halo Hobbies is just following the guidelines set forth by the ROAR Rule book on holding a national event.
I have also heard many comments that people don't want ot come because of what happened at the On road Nats. If you talk to anyone that was there they have said it was solely that the host track was not prepared. If you have been to Halo Hobbies you can that Halo is ready and looking forward to putting on a Nats to be remembered.
Please feel free to ask any questions on here, sending me a PM.

burbs 03-27-2005, 04:47 PM SO how much is the late fee... Every nats or regionals i have been to, has waived the late fee.. The way my job works, i do not know enough in advance if i can go or not... with so many races each year, who has enough vacation to do them all??? I dont.. so i have to go by the job.. I would like to go to this race.. but in all honesty i may not know if i can untill the week of or before... Now a late fee help my decision even more...
late fees are dumb ... what do they really help with??? besides penalizing someone for deciding at the last minute to attend a race .... but if people dont want to pay the late fee, then the host track is just hurting attendance.. im sure its not a large amount of people, but still/...
so what is the chosen motor for this race??? i havent seen yet... UGHH LOL i hate paper weights..
Jamie Hanson 03-27-2005, 04:56 PM I hope it is the MVP :-) I like those motors.

The Late fee is $20.
The late fee is to entice you, the racer, to get your entry in promptly and on time. With a prestiagous event like the Nats all parties want to put on the best possible event and part of this is having a general idea of how many will be attending event. If all of a sudden 200 people show up at the door the track will have no way of knowning so the late fee is imposed to help aid the track in eleaviating the problem at hand.
The handout motor will be a stock motor and the same for everyone.
