View Full Version : Putnam motors Razoo 12-04-2004, 01:40 PM Todd- Any plans on offering a mini-t motor? The Jet 12-04-2004, 02:06 PM Rich, you gettin bored yet??? I've been on the injured reserve a few times so I can relate. I've been meaning to ask if you have a halo, or if they were able to imobilize you with simple bracing??? Good luck on your healing, and see you at the track soon. Mini T motor??? I would imagine, with enough demand...Todd would do ANYTHING for money . Later, Bret Razoo 12-05-2004, 09:03 AM Bret- No halo yet, there was alot of talk about one but in the end decided on a hard brace, I go for xrays and ct scan this week, if not healing OK then the halo goes on which would really put a damper on my spirits. I'm bored crazy, rebuilt all of my motors, cleaned all bearings, dynoed all springs, changed all shock oil, durometered all tires and waxed all bodies that got me thru yesterday :jest: . Just waiting for my aggressor from Todd so that will give me something to do. Last word was the week of the 13th. As you well know it ain't a whole lot of fun hanging around all day. My big project for today will be organizing screws and washers :D, can't wait to get started! The Jet 12-05-2004, 03:49 PM The mailman will soon become a highlight too ;), and your going to get real good at the price is right . Try not to think about getting down, it's sure to happen then, you'll talk yourself right into it. Just think of how much worse it could've been  that's what I had to do. Putnam won't be on the computer for at least 10 days, he's gone to the Tony Stewart in Va. See you soon. Later, Bret JeffPatch29 12-19-2004, 04:41 PM I just wanted to thank Todd Putnam for offering a wonderfull product to the racers. Using an ARCOR 19 turn I bought off RC4Less.com I managed to set a new track record in 4 cell 19 turn last night at our local club track. The record was prevously held by a very competitive racer in this area of the counttry, who also was a past 4 cell modified national champion. I just ook the motor out of the package and bolted it in a bam, that's all there was to it. I also think the new Ceramic bearings I purchased from RC4Less.com as well as the new JACO Tires I bought might have had something to do with it. Just wanted to make the oval community awake of what a magnificent product Todd pushes out of his shop time and time again. Thanks Todd. erock1331 12-19-2004, 08:02 PM Nice job Jeff Todd Putnam 12-21-2004, 12:41 PM Rich: I was working with an overseas compant to bring in a Mini-T motor, but got discouraged when the market started to get flooded with them. That, with the performance of the Mamba brushless stuff put it on hold. Kits were due here this week, but the graphite hasn't arrived at CW yet. I'll update you as soon as I hear something. JET: Thanks for fielding the questions while I was away... Jeff Patch: Nice job on your record! Thanks for the endorsement. We are focused on staying out front, and support and results like yours certainly helps... Todd Putnam Putnam Propulsion 518-452-0422 THE BAT 12-21-2004, 01:33 PM Any word on the XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX brushes ? :drunk:  dave w 12-21-2004, 06:31 PM Any word on the XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX brushes ? :drunk:  todd need to talk to you doctor v! Z-Main Loser 12-22-2004, 12:22 AM Todd, can I buy a plain Monster Stock from you that only has the magnets zapped. No springs or brushes or cut comm. I like to tune my own motors but I don't have a zapper. Todd Putnam 12-22-2004, 02:53 PM Mark: Keystone's got everyone over a barrel. Trinity, Reedy, myself, are all waiting on something in one form or another from them. I wish they'd give us all a heads-up when excessive delays are on the Radar screen. But unless your name is Ingersol-Rand, Bosch, DeWalt, etc, you're not a player. Todd Team PZR 12-22-2004, 04:49 PM TP, Your always a player in my book...lol Have a good Holiday. Pete The Jet 12-23-2004, 02:20 PM TP, Your always a player in my book...lol Have a good Holiday. PetePete, do you have time to be on the computer??? LOL. How are dem bodies coming??? Thanks, Bret PS. Pete's the body MAN. dave w 12-23-2004, 05:12 PM GOOD to talk to you today todd looking forward to the testing thanks!!!!! Porksalot4L 12-23-2004, 06:10 PM HEY PETE! whats up man i thought you fell of the face of the earth! lol happy holidays man joe ivo Q-ball 01-11-2005, 10:22 AM I just picked up a binary based ROAR stock. Does anyone have any spring/brush recommendations? We run 4 cell stock with a 170-180 foot runline on flat concrete. erock1331 01-11-2005, 10:30 AM Q-ball check out the other threads regarding the Roar stock motor, lots of tips on there if you read the thread all the way through. I have been using either the F brush with a large hole in it or a Reedy 769 with 2 red springs. http://www.hobbytalk.com/bbs1/showthread.php?t=88186 http://www.hobbytalk.com/bbs1/showthread.php?t=100378 Q-ball 01-11-2005, 10:52 AM Thanks Erock! Man, I'm beginning to think you know the answer to anything! Here's a question.... In May they are having a race called the US Pan Car Championships in San Antonio (I'm in Texas). Its supposed to be a big race, but I'm not hearing much about it. Does anyone up north know about it or plan to attend? I'd hate to drive 6 hours, spend 2 nights in a hotel to be one of 30 racers showing up, all locals.... erock1331 01-11-2005, 10:54 AM Believe me I dont know everything, far from it, lol but what i do know is when i want information I want it now, so I try and return the favor on here. The US pan car race: To be honest never heard of it and dont know anyone local that is attending Q-ball 01-11-2005, 12:37 PM Thats kinda what I figured. There is a thread about it under race events, but its not real encouraging. The Jet 01-11-2005, 04:24 PM (I'm in Texas). I didn't notice the accent ;) . Run it the way it came out of the package. Blue shunt brush/green spring on neg. Green shunt brush/red spring on positive with timed brushes. This has been consistantly the fast setup, thats why he sells them that way  . Later, Bret Q-ball 01-11-2005, 04:42 PM The way mine is out of the package is Positive side: green brush, purple spring? Negative side Blue brush red spring... The Jet 01-12-2005, 12:30 PM Boy did I screw that up, LOL. If you want to move the power band up a bit, run the springs I mentioned, otherwise just like you received it is your best bet. Later, Bret Tommygun43 01-12-2005, 05:55 PM 5 out of 6 cars in the A at Barre were running Putnam brushes in there handout motors on Sunday. Not to shabby. Those brushes have RIP! Todd Putnam 01-13-2005, 07:34 PM I like the stock Japanese brushes that come with the motors...makes my car easier to drive than the Putnam brushes... j21moss 01-13-2005, 07:35 PM Todd.. I sent you a e-mail yesterday.. did you get it??? BrandO 01-17-2005, 10:01 AM I bought a package of Putnam Green brushes a while back from RC4less. 6 out of the package had big chips out of the brush face. It is not a big deal just wondering what happened. Was there a bad batch or is this pretty common with bulk packages? I need to buy more and would rather not have a package with a few bad brushes. Are you better off buying them packaged as pairs? I have spoken to a couple other racers that have had the same problem. Don't get me wrong, I am not bagging on Todd and his product. Just wondering if there is a way to avoid this. Todd Putnam 01-17-2005, 11:49 AM Brandon, This is the first I've heard of this. If you get any more, send them in and we'll replace them. Todd Putnam Putnam Propulsion BrandO 01-17-2005, 12:35 PM Ok Todd, will do. I think it has only happened with the bulk packages. Maybe just the way they are in the envelope. I did notice the small pieces in the bottom of the envelope. So I guess any chips happened after being packaged. Maybe just the UPS guy playing football with the package. Q-ball 01-19-2005, 10:51 AM Todd, or anyone knowledgable, what is your viewpoint on comm drops? Are they for use in racing or just in break in? How do you suggest they are used and how often? Thanks JeffPatch29 01-19-2005, 11:05 AM Q-Ball, I normally use comm drops in stock and 19 turn, but normally don't in modified. this is how I do it......... re-build the motor like normal, cutt the comm, clean the brush hoods, polsish the arm, whatever you do. Then when it comes to break in, I will turn my gfx on and wait about 10 seconds, then put 2-3 drops directly on the comm, let it run for about 150 seconds, then spray the motor out with motor spray while it is running. and let the motor run the rest of the break in period with out them. Then once the motor is done running, spray the motor out 1 more time with spray and bolt it in the car. Put 1-2 drops directly on the comm before you start your race, and roll the spur gear a little bit to make sure it doesn't build up all in one place. What ever comm drops you use, make sure it is thin. Anything like tribo, or trinity's stuff is too thick, and does a better job of collecting dirt than enhancing performance. I like either the finishline hot sauce, or the Team Hurricane drops. Jeff Patch Putnam Propulsion TQ cells tfrahm 01-19-2005, 11:57 AM Just a word of caution... I use ONLY non-flammable motor spray, but MOST currently available motor sprays are HIGHLY FLAMMABLE... I use CRC 'Lectra Clean' that I get at AutoZone or the local ACE Hardware store.... http://www.crcindustries.com/catalog/images/Cleaners%20and%20Degreasers/02018.jpg Note that it says "No Flash or Fire Point" -- NICE! I have a friend who suffered 2nd degree burns on his hands from using flammable motor spray on a running motor... Check out the fine print on this label: http://www.duratrax.com/caraccys/dtxc2459b.jpg Hmmm... "Danger, Extremely Flammable" (If I remember right, it's contents include Hexane and BUTANE... YIKES!) Todd Putnam 01-20-2005, 11:07 AM I like the Zubak Speed Juice for break in.. . I've raced with it in the motor and without it in the motor. The biggest difference/gain I notice is utilizing it during break in. Stay tuned... Todd Putnam Putnam Propulsion erock1331 01-20-2005, 11:11 AM tfrahm I hear ya brother, I was working on my air compressor a while back and thought the brushes seized up on it, so I used some motor spray and low and behold a flame nearly 2 ft long shot and and singed the hair on my arm, With all the chemical cleaners, motor spray, cans of air dusters around it's amazing I didnt blow up the aparment complex rjm70 01-20-2005, 11:44 AM tfrahm about the motor spray i got a lot of that stuff laying around we use it at work. i bought a case of the stuff and didn't like it . the stuff leaves a resedue behind. i'll use it on cleaning parts but not on motors. plus the stuff smells horriable wish i knew why to get the cherry smelling stuff that kisbey uses. eroch u r like eric try to think b4 u act. LOL!!!!!!!!!!! i was working on some drops for jonnie this past summer. i was useing some of the old power push that bolink had and mixed it with kerosine, some lube, and a little secret stuff from donnieo at sh. a fireball shot out of the motor when i put some in while it was running on the tubo 35 it blew every fuse in it. i fell slam out of the chair it scared me to death. i'm glad i tested them it might have burnt the new carpet at sh. LOL!!!!!!!!!!!! but if you need amp draw it works. i like bulit drops i used them when i ran stock. i used to put a couple of drops on each brush during break in. than i would flood it on the line b4 the race. you have to make sure your gear is dead on it will change it a little. i used them to win my norrca national title at bolink in GA. i liked them haven't used them myself but i've been building motor for guys at the tracks i go and thats what i use. Ritchie Mac gezer2u 01-20-2005, 11:42 PM wish i knew why to get the cherry smelling stuff that kisbey uses. Ritchie Mac try here ;) http://www.kisbeymodifieds.com/Accessories.htm rjm70 01-21-2005, 10:16 AM thanks i was hopeing i could find out who makes the stuff. somebody has to know. i used to use a brand that advanced auto used to sell. it has the napa colors on it. they just quit making it go figure. Ritchie Mac MikeNum8 01-21-2005, 10:51 AM Flames and motor spray don't mix. LOL ASk Ziggy at Pine Bowl race last year. He set his pits and his arms on fire. Rupert was sitting accross from him. It was very funny. rjm70 01-21-2005, 11:03 AM Yea but thats Ziggy. He's the only guy i know that will run around with xmas stockings on his feet at a restraunt and bust his butt on the floor. i guess you were was a little loose. Huh Zig? LOL!!!!!!!!
