Im in for some mod, and maybe we can have a stock shoot out all in one day? I mean since the great Postacase, I mean Postalwait is coming to town!

Dusty, Kenny, Finetune, Andy, are you guys gonna try and make it?

Almost forgot, we might even see some of the Team one/Hefty cells gang come on it from WI for this race. I talked to Corey Heft and he said he would like to try and make it in for this one. So hopefully we will have a GREAT turnout!!!!

I'm from South Bend, In. What are the rules for stock? I need some directions to get there. Also, what size is the track. What about setup? Track record? We run the standard ROAR/Norrca/ARCOR rules for stock

27T legal motor - Most run either the Monster or the new Epic Roar stocker.
No quad magnet stockers allowed

Roof height - 4 1/4"
Weight is 39.8 oz with transponder for all classes.

Track is 185' runline banked oval

Paragon not allowed, most use Jack the Gripper, Paragon Odorless or Niftech

All time Track record in stock is Eric Hutkay 54 4:03
This season its 53 4:00 by either Zach Messenger or Lauren Liehr
19T record - Frank Peachock 61 4:03
Mod Record - Brian Ziegler - 66 4:00

For pics of the track see www.classichobbiesraceway.com (http://www.classichobbiesraceway.com/)

The address for mapquest is:
1994 E. Waterloo Rd
Akron, OH 44312

The key to finding the track is once you get onto 224 E you will come to a Marathon Gas Station, go straight and about 200 yards down the road you will see white Semi-Trailors parked on the right hand side and a Muffler shop, the Track/Hobbyshop sits back off the road behind those Trailors and the Muffler shop. You will see a big sign on top that says Classic Hobbies.

For stock
LF
Purple Spring
BSR Silver
2 Deg Castor
1 Deg Camber

RF
Black Spring
BSR Blue
4 castor
2 deg camber

Center 60 wt #2 piston, 8 lb spring for starters
Sides - 30 wt, Gold and Red side springs
LR - BSR White
RR - BSR Gold

Pod - some run straight up some Offset, personal preference, I have always been faster in stock straight up.
108 to 116 spur gear work best

Body of choice - Protoform Taurus
I am gonna try the new Dodge as well but it might be a bit much for Stock

Hope that helps

Thanks Eric. Have you or anyone else ever ran 6 cell stock? My home track is having a big race on Jan. 15. I'll post more info about it in the events section. The track is in Elkhart, In. We mainly run 6 cell stock. (The few left out there) Its a flat tight track. 110' runline. If interested let me know. I want to see alot of out of towners. The record for 6 cell stock is 68 4:02.

erock1331

I dont run 6 cell, the only one's who run some 6 cell spec from time to time is Kevin (Herrbie) Coulbourne and Rick Lohr but from what I understand Kevin is working Saturday's now and hasnt been running.

How are heats setup. I have been out a while some stuff may be outdated. Will I be in a heat of similar experience or will I be letting fast guys by all day. Or should I stay home.

erock1331
12-15-2004, 12:18 PM
Shane,
Definately don't stay home.
Walt is pretty good about setting up the heats to make for some clean racing.
If the turnout warrants it we could ask him to run 2 heats then a re-sort for the last heat.
This is how we did it for the Fall Classic race back in Sept and it worked out very well.

Also our stock classes are pretty divided by experience level.
We have Novice stock class for the beginners and youngsters of the hobby.
Then our Busch (spec class) 45-48 laps Occasionally someone will bust out a 49 or 50 lap run
Then Masters Stock - 51-53 lap range

Thanks eric can you go into a little more detail on the busch class like what motor, is battery 4cell or 6 and does it have to be spec also are tires spec thanks, Shane.

I talked to Walt today he said if we get the usally/good turn out he would't mind doing the reshuffle after the 2nd heat if that is what people wanted

Long time since I ran any oval so i will probably be out to lunch anyway but anybody got a idea on rollout for a monster stock on this track. I will probably take what you guys say and drop a couple of teeth and get the car and the driver working half way decent but it would be nice to have somewhere to start. Thanks in advance. ( I will be running busch)

Beero
12-24-2004, 01:50 AM
For a monster, depending on the rpm of the motor, most people run around 2.25 or so. I could be wrong. but thats a good starting place.

me21
12-24-2004, 12:27 PM
around 2.25-2.35 an extreme would be 2.15-2.45 anything lower or higher and you will start cooking some motors.

I have to stick up for my Southern buddies on this one and put an end to the rumors. I talked to a very good source and the carpet is not on upside down.

Have a happy holiday

Mike, first off that was never intended to be a "cheap shot" You know as well as I do, in this hobby we all like to rag on each other and make jokes to get a rise out a people. I meant that as simply a joke that is why I put LOL after it and never said anything else about it in later posts. I hear that your having problems with car count? So are we! Banked tracks are simply not drawing the crowd these days with racers and I dont know why. You know over the past few months, we have had low counts and everyone is quick to jump on walt and make a joke or a statement out of frustration. When I heard the your track was totally different I was bumbed. I know it is a top notch facility and I have had a blast racing there the few times that I have and cant wait to come back some day! I also never took aim at anyone or anything, just made a funny coment about maybe the carpet was upside down. Just a mistake on the carpet layers fault. HaHa. Just a stupid joke with nothing intended as a cheap shot! Im sorry if I put salt in the wound, but it was never a cheap shot by anymeans.

Now! I hope your holiday was a good one! We are having the Arrcor open in march and I hope you can make it up. It has been a long time since I have raced with you and the boys from down there and I cant wait to trade paint again some day. Mike, I hope this clears the air a little bit and we can get back to racing. good luck at your memorial race next week, I hope it turns out great. As I hope are hangover turns out great. unforchanetly, we are losing some cars to flat tracks and we are looking at a low car field for this race. I hope some people change their minds and give classic a chance! It is a great track with awesome racing, as is your track!!!

hope Fabio is doing good? as yourself!

Take care and good racing,
Mario...

Wayne
Wayne,
Actually after Sandhills I took a month off to do the whole holiday thing and had some other things happen this past 2 weeks to where I had to go out of town unfortunately.

But I will be back for the Hangover race and will be running stock.
I had planned to run both stock and 19T but I ended up selling one of my older cars so I am down to one chassis. That and my GFX took a crap on me so its on its way back to CE.
Come down and run some stock and we'll have a good ol time

Take it easy
Eric
