View Full Version : A new guy here with an old love.....
joez870 11-30-2004, 01:38 AM Hello to my fellow slotters...
I love this place! I have spent days reading months worth of threads(and still have a long way to go) .
Hi, my name is joez870 and I am a slotaholic.... :jest: (thats not too far from the truth)
I love to customize too but no resins yet. Mostly diecast and beaters and some plastic statics. My latest is a MuscleMachines(tm) 57fury police car w/the m-machine wheels tucked up where I found them(read"lots of grinding")
on an AFX nonmag specialty.(posted and centered) It is top-heavy, slow and weighs about 5lbs, but it sure looks cool running on my track! I can post some pics if you like (got my gal a digicam for early xmas). Just let me know(as soon as she shows me how to use it)!
MmmmmmmmmmmSlotsssssss heh!

I am one of the newer members on this site,I have gotten back into HO slots after a long break.
I have gotten excellent detailed answers to anything I have asked of the members here.I have learned quite a bit in a very short amount of time.
Welcome to the board. And I'd like to see some pics of your creation as soon as you get the camera thing happening.

joez870 11-30-2004, 04:48 PM Gawd, I love that smell!
Thankyou kindly for the warm welcome! (all of you)
I slotted from age 10 (when I got my first aurora set from miz witlatch for mowing her lawn instead of 2 dollars (her grown sons)) until I was 16 when I wanted a NEW bike(youngest of 9 with the old hand-me-downs) and sold all of the track and 25 cars, auroras and afx for 90.00. (stupid, stupid joe)
I am 39 now (do the math) In 91 or 92 I baught a tyco set with a couple lambos and have added to it and ran it as time (winter ) and space(dumb plywood under the bed) would allow. I now have a new home and slotroom! woohoo!
My collection has grown from 0 to about 180 todate and have some fairly rare ones too. Roughriders tiltnoses ect...and yes, I run them too...(gentley)
My sons (8 and 10) love the slots too! Rightnow I am running a 4lane tyco w/ a lifeliketrain crossing it too! (pics to come)
My boys and I built the table (12'(diag) to 10 '(qu) to 5'(squ)X4'

(kinda like this) We are having so much fun here in saintPaul MN!

But its great to see that you are well again and back where you belong. Hang around here though and you may end up like the rest of us "looney's" :D

JPRcustoms 11-30-2004, 07:18 PM Welcome aboard Joe. You are going to love this place. It's kind of like home for slotheads from everytown USA. You will be suprised at how many strong ties you will develop with people on here. They do become real friends that go alot deeper then mere words on a screen.
Have fun,
Joe
PS: Dont forget the Wensday night slot chat....come on in and hang out for a bit!
joez870 11-30-2004, 11:46 PM Ok guys, here are a few pics of some conversions (57 fury & 69 goat) in diecast w/ specialty chassis under'em...oh...and my current layout!
The table is steel 2x4s that I fabbed in my sheetmetal shop. My boys and I had it up in 3 hrs. too!
Now for some epoxy paint, a few buildings, mayhaps a tree or two.
Hey! Does anyone else have a cat that steals the!#@%**#@! tires out of your parts box? (4 drawer & flip-down front type) She opens the derned drawers and just helps herself! If i move them to a different drawer, she still gets them!
She will look at me and still go right for the drawer! She hooks it open, digs a bunch of tyres and wheels out, pick the one she wants and jets upstairs to kick it around in the bathtub! (at least she does not steal them from my cars :jest: )
I'll be in for the wed night chat!
joez870 11-30-2004, 11:50 PM Hmmmm I uploaded the pics...I just don't know where they went! doh!
roadrner 12-01-2004, 10:08 AM Nice pix! See you tonight. ;) rr
joez870 12-01-2004, 01:03 PM Hey roadrner, where did you find the pix? I can't find a link.
roadrner 12-01-2004, 02:08 PM I was being facetious. Just a way of making the new guys part of the family! ;)
Don't fret, most of us at one time or another have had the same experience as you with regards to your pix. rr
