since ive joined here alot of people have asked for a diecast company to step up and make diorama stuff for 1/64th scale like - people, gas station pumps, tool boxes, car ramps you know all the good stuff that goes with a garage.
also people have asked for car transporters, tow trucks from the 30's and up
not only would this benifit the collector of diecast but train collectors and slot car collectors which do try to make there track look great. and there are people that just do dioramas only.and dont forget the drag strip theres money to be made there too.
this field is wide open for possibilitys of great money to the company that jumps on this first.
i would love to see jl/rc-ertel jump on this before anyone else do to the quality and craftsman ship of this company. heck you could even make wl tool boxes and make each part you make a wl to see who can complete a wl garage. big seller here.

my question is how many of you would buy this stuff if jl was to make it and what type of stuff would you buy if you had the chance?

I would buy all of this. I would like to make more than one diorama, have different ones represent time periods like the 60's 80's today. Just my opinion.

I would buy gas pumps and garage tools, and would love to have a bunch of diffrent people in diffrent positions for a drag strip ive been wanting to build, the white lighting part I could live without, let everone find this not just the scalpers and the lucky few.I also want to build a car dealership from the 70s,these after market companys need to listen up ,they do all kinds of stuff for the model car builders, and rc ertl has done a lot of 1/64 john deer barns and things.hopefully there reading this. thanks dr.olds

well the wl stuff is just an idea to help us get what we need and the so called scalpers can have the wl part for all i care. i just want some cool stuff like car lifts and such. heck even if thay made kits that we put together would be great. even unpainted would be ok with me.
someone out there is going to do this sooner or later i would love for it to be jl and not brand x.
example if brand x did this it would be to scale for there cars only that means that i would have to buy there cars to be insink with that scale and i dont want to go back that way again unless i have to.

heres kinda what im talking about.
it an ertel farm storage shed but i redesinged it add a center roof and center beams to extend the shop. but it is kinda large but it does still work. i will just have to make the work areas a lil bigger to fill in the open space inside

I'm all for some diorama stuff in 1/64 scale. its way overdue in fact.
but for now, I just purchase items that are real close to scale. not easy.
These McDonalds are porcelain, and look great with JL cars too.

It's only been in the last few years that 1:18 guys started getting cool diorama stuff. Even now there isn't that much to offer. I really hope to get some 1:64 stuff one day.

We all know the guy on Ebay that sells the 1/64 scale items, his stuff is nice but I would love to put a Garage togeather to display easily, The easiest way to sell a package like this idea, is to lay all the parts of the unassembled garage in a larger blister pack, on a card, Tools sold separately of course.........

I would buy a track set, the garage, house, police station, fire station, bank, Drive in, and any other play set for JL cars and trucks that come out my way.

The transporters/car haulers, train sets would be a great big added bonus.

My plans for my miniture city are on hold at this point in time due to space but I really am looking for a larger place to make my cities.

So count me in on this idea.

Oh yeah, I'd buy them!

Gas station, garage, hot rod shop, '50s era diner, car dealership, police dept, fire dept, etc. Build them and we will come.

I'm in on this type of stuff, items that would cross between diecast and slots would be of special interest to me.

Those grandstands and sky boxes with garages that Doba posted look great!

I'd buy a lot of stuff!! I want a 1:64 auto car carrier...a semi that looks right and is scaled correctly so that JLs would look perfect loaded on it...well all except the Mini Coopers. har har. All there is are 1:32 and 1:43 ones. A nice roll back flatbed for 1:64 cars would be awesome too!

I know I would buy as many as I could of the 1/64 scale garages and stuff like that. It seems like ever since I started collecting that people have been asking for car transporters and all that gets made is 1/32 scale stuff...who collects 1/32 scale anyway???? I am still looking for one of those Imperial Toys transporters, those were awesome.

Thats a yes for me also! The only only accessories I have for my 1/4 mile dragstrip at this point is two billboard signs in the pit area. I wish some company would step up to the plate, there is a definite market for these products!

I'd be all over scale stuff it was a consistant scale to JL's.
(wait JL is consistant to ..uh,nothing... but packaging?)
As of now,HO is too big and N scale is just a little too small.

I agree 756% with this idea & also would like to see single car trailers with ramps. Maybe with a tire rack in front & room for tool boxes & such. Flatbeds & tow trucks with working hooks. I would buy them all.

Mike
P.S. I found a Kids Connection (at WalMart) transporter that holds four JL cars.

I'd go for all of the items already mentioned. Another I would like to see is an auto dealership. At Least the showroom area. How many of us have enough Chevys, Ford, Chryslers, etc to open a dealership? :) I love CJ's Micky D's. I also think a Sonic drive-in has it's possibilities, plus more product tie-ins.

Gee, I've mentioned many times in the last couple of years that I would like to see JL do a combination truck and trailer set. They did the truck and fishing boat set a few years ago. So they have the castings for the trucks. Now all they would have to do, is create a single or tandem axle trailer that would hold a single car or truck and attach to the towing truck. All kinds of possibilities. They could call the series "Show and Go" or "Haulin' Haulers". You get the idea.
I would love to have a black truck and trailer to load one of my BWFs Camaros or Mustangs on. Or a blue one to load a GTX. Or a red one, to load ......
And the list goes on.
I don't recall much discussion on this subject.
But then again I never published this idea on this BB.

Cheers. Cobra

Thanks for sharing. I'm glad that they are available somewhere. I can't imagine there being much of a market for these products. I have a train friend tell me that most diecast are not in scale with train stuff.

I'd definately be interested in these items for a garage, gas station, car dealership, drive-in restaraunts... I'd love to someday build a whole city for my JLs... like a train layout, but without the trains. Back when I was collecting mirco machines as a kid, I built a whole town in my room. I used the playsets that were available, and when what I wanted wasn't offered I built my own (which is alot of time consuming work). I built a motel, drive thru restaraunt and a whole suburban neighborhood of houses. I think I have a picture of it somewhere, will have to post when I find it. One a related note, when I was even younger (like 4-5) there was nothing I wanted more than a town/city for my hotwheels/matchbox. One year my parents got me a set called "Hotwheels USA" a connecting set of roads and buildings, and I still have this. I've never seen anything like it, even searched e b ay ... anybody have any ideas on info for this set? I was kinda curious as to when they were available (early 80s I guess) and how much it may be worth (not that I'm selling, just curious)

There were three Hot Wheels USA sets. Basically a small set, a medium set, and a large set (but I forget the exact names). I wouldn't think they'd go for that much on online auction sites though full sets might.

I have two boxes, an almost square blue one and a white rectangular one double that size. Perhaps I have the large set if it included both the small and medium set? I know there is a car dealership, fire station, gas station, a bridge and a ferry boat among other buildings and misc. road pieces. I'll have to dig it out and put it together and take a couple pics.

All this new info showing up, Nice! I guess the "S" scale is accurate 1/64th? gunn, I'll check the custom area, and try to figure what route I plan to go? A little busy with the Holidays coming, Perhaps a 2005 project? thanks, I'll keep you updated.

Yeah, I think the large set was made up of the smaller sets, but I think each of the smaller sets may have had one or two unique pieces to encourage buying them all. But yes, all the pieces you mentioned are in the sets I'm thinking of.
