dreamer 11-25-2004, 03:26 AM I'll wait and see how it plays.
As an aside, though, I'm having a hard time remembering it's in a new time slot (have missed three episodes on Friday night and just barely caught the Sunday repeats at the last moment - missed another one altogether). More to the point, It's hard to get used to actually wanting to see it at all - which, for the first time since DS9 was airing, I do!
tripdeer 11-25-2004, 04:09 AM Yeah, so far this season has been a VAST improvement over the last few seasons. Season three had its moments, but it seems as though the new show runner, Manny Coto, is making a real effort this year to link Enterprise with the Classic Series.

Prince of Styrene II 11-25-2004, 04:47 PM I agree! Manny seems to be just what the series needed, not to mention the franchise! :)
sbaxter 11-29-2004, 01:44 PM It has crossed my mind that having Judith and Garfield Reeves-Stevens as story editors and writers may be helping as well. In the novels they have written, both just the two of them and those with Shatner, they have demonstrated a talent for gathering various threads established in multiple series -- threads that do not appear to be related -- and making them fit together in ways that make perfect sense.

Yeah, I get the Coto accolades, but I think his isn't the only fresh take on the series that's helping; having a good producer coupled with the Reeves-Stevenses is making a difference, and they're helping the established crew go in stronger directions, too. It's all around good stuff, and hopefully it's going to build back the audience.
While the early ratings for the season didn't show tons of improvement, when you take into account the fact of its new time slot — in most cases Friday night is a great place to kill a show — there's hope.
Just Plain Al 11-29-2004, 04:06 PM Also remember, the Sunday "repeat" doesn't count towards the weeks ratings. That is when practically everyone I know watches it.
Arronax 11-29-2004, 04:51 PM Also remember, the Sunday "repeat" doesn't count towards the weeks ratings. That is when practically everyone I know watches it.It's usually the only time I can watch it since our local UPN station is the official station of the Orlando Magic and there's usually a game on Friday night.
Thank god for VCRs. They're old but they work for those of us without a DVR.

Dave Hussey 11-29-2004, 07:58 PM I can watch it here on both Friday and Sunday night.
However, the station carrying it on Friday night (ASN out of Halifax) has the absolute crappiest picture and audio quality Ihave seen on a TV since I was a kid watching Thunderbirds on a black and white set with rabit ears. The Sunday night staion however, has exceptionally good audio and video quality. But just the same, I usually can't wait until Sunday.

I know that pain Jim, my UPN is the official station of the Detroit Pistons.
Trek Ace 11-29-2004, 09:46 PM Manny Coto seems very sincere in his desire to align ENTERPRISE with the original series. I think he's off to a very good start.
Not only is this season watchable, but I actually look forward to each new episode. A first for me with this show. I can only wish him the best and that he be allowed to continue on with the process.
The addition of the Reeves-Stevens writing pair seems to gel perfectly with his sensibilities. I can only hope now that the show be allowed to continue with Coto at the helm and the Reeves-Stevens writing team on staff.
This is from a former naysayer who could only wish for the show's merciful demise just a few short months ago. :)
