My REVO engine is having problems staying cool. i richened the fuel mixture as it said on the tuning DVD. it still gets around 220 degrees. the thing that worries me is that it is winter over here in ALASKA. the temp is staying around 35-40 degrees outside. any suggestions with keeping my engine cool?

I would be looking for air leaks,,,,, seal the base of the carburator, ditto for the back plate for the crank case.

220, whats the problem most people that use the 2.5 would kill to run at that temp , Is this your first RC? I have 2 TMaxxes that use the same basic engine as the Revo and run 280 and they do fine. To many people get hung up on temps and start to panic, your temp. is fine, RED

This is from another Thread that I started for my friends savage!!
"I'll take a stab. Check and see if the motor is getting proper air flow across it. Is the body cut out to allow air in. Does he have a LARGE air filter in front of the motor blocking it from air. Has he changed the gear ratio for more speed but still running it in a small area. Installed large tires without going down on gear ratio. Check and see if the drive train is free from binding or the brake is not draging. Is he running a high content of nitro for fuel (30%+). The temp gauge that your using is it onboard? Is so is the probe across from the exhaust port. If using the handheld you are getting a good temp shot from the glow plug itself.
Just a few things to look at but depending on your outside temp that may be a ok range. You make can check on HPI's website for thier ideal temp too."
Hope this helps!!!!

Here's another reply as well!!!
"check to see if the clutch is slipping or engaging too early... that can lead to higher engines temps. Also, if he is running 20% fuel, he may want to consider switching to a fuel with 30% nitro content. The big block engines run cooler on fuel with a higher percentage of nitro.
also 250-270 may not be too high of a temp. Depending on how much fuel has been run through the engine, the temp outside, etc many engines like to run that hot. As the engine breaks in, the temps will usually drop and it will produce more power.
The only other thing is to check the engine and fuel line for air leaks. Even with rich needle settings an air leak in the carb will cause higher engine temps. Take some engine sealant and seal up the carb and pinch bolt. Hope that helps!"
There Hows that for an answer!!! LOL
Hope this helps a bunch!!!!
