when your engine doesn't start but is getting fuel and good compression but no spark. try taking a look at your flywheel key. It might be throwing off your timing. i got one off a perfectly good 3.0 hp briggs. the man didn't know what was wrong with it so he threw it out. i popped the flywheel off and behold thats what it was. now i've got me a mower to sell. but before you throw it out check it. you lose money over a 2 dollar sliver of metal if you get rid of it. simple to replace as well. just wanted to tell some people who don't know whats wrong because this is mostly it. usually you'd know if it didn't look right. it would be off center.
