Some of you will remember that I ordered "This Island Earth" from Amazon.ca on July 12th. Well, I got another e-mail this morning saying the DVD has been delayed another 4 to 6 weeks.
James (who thinks it will be a lot longer that that) :)

Amazon.ca has the WORST database/search system I ever seen for a company selling online. If you miss one apostrophe or comma, the whole thing goes screwy and returns absurd results. That's strange because the amazon.com system works very nicely.
THIS ISLAND EARTH has been OOP for at least four years.
But their ridiculous database still list non-existant discs as shipping in 4 to 6 weeks.
I use amazon.ca and they are quite reliable when it comes to shipping stuff they have in stock. If an item says "Usually ships in 24 hours", I'll order it with no hesitation. But if an item isn't in stock, the listing in their database is complete fiction.

I had good luck with Amazon.ca in ordering some of the UCLA Nigel Bruce and Basil Rathbone Sherlock Holmes DVDs. I had my order in about one week.
By comparison, I placed an order for Volume I of the remastered Bruce/Rathbone movies from a local shop last December, 2003. I wanted it for a Christmas present for my Wife. In May 2004 they called to say my order had arrived...........

The This Island Earth listing at Amazon is NOT an Amazon listing. You cannot order the title from Amazon. That is a half.com listing. The reason Amazon leaves out of print titles in their database is for individuals who have copies to sell them. Amazon takes their cut of the selling price. The Midnight Movies recently went out of print but if you do a search for them at Amazon they all come up. You will notice that there is no Amazon price, only the "buy used or new from $x.xx" These are copies being sold by indivuals or other companies. Movies Unlimited sells a lot of stuff on Amazon.

James was referring to an amazon.ca listing. They do list it.

Yeah, Amazon.ca
I recall looking at Amazon.com a long tiome ago and it was not listed by them. Or maybe it said "out of stock". Anyway, I didn't think anything of it as I have read, probably here, that it was unavailable.
Then I noticed that Amazon.ca did have it listed. Our Price: $19.98 CDN.
Usually Ships within 3 to 5 weeks.
I figured it was wrong as This Island Earth cannot be found anywhere else.
At least not that I could find.
But, I thought I would try and order it. Nothing to lose really. More of a test.
If I got it great, if not, .... That was in July.
I got an e-mail, can't recall when, saying it would take another 4 to 6 weeks.
Now I got another one the other day, saying 4 to 6 weeks more. LOL!
So was just posting the updated info for those that have been following my "test" order at Amazon.ca

Took a gander at amazon.ca and noticed they also take orders for Journey to the Far Side of the Sun also. That's been OOP as long as This Island Earth.
