View Full Version : Barre, Vt Speedway Is Getting New Carpet
rtourangeau3 11-15-2004, 03:53 PM Just wanted to let everyone know that Barre Speedway is getting new ozite 2 carpet. It will be in before the next trophy race on Jan 9th. Please let me know what you think. I think this will help the bad reputation of barre being to tough to tame.
c barsalow 11-15-2004, 04:44 PM too tough? nah......Just keep the draggers off the carpet and it will last forever......
u2racer 11-15-2004, 07:33 PM This carpet is very much needed, I think it will help your weekly attendance and definately help on the big races as well. Go easy with the rotory bristle head vacumn on the new carpet and maybe it will last longer, I don't now if that was the problem with the old carpet or not?
disruptor10 11-15-2004, 08:00 PM new carpet sounds good , i'll be making the trip as long as they dont call for a blizzard...........
rtourangeau3 11-16-2004, 09:15 AM I think the new carpet is going to make it faster once again. Maybe we can work in a couple of racing lines. I think we will see 70 + laps at the trophy race in Jan.
c barsalow 11-16-2004, 04:48 PM The laps have been way down
Jason Lambert 11-16-2004, 05:35 PM is it gettign glued down, or stapled around the edges like the black carpet was? I'd highly reccommend gluing it, will make for alot faster track....
rtourangeau3 11-16-2004, 05:48 PM The black carpet was glued down. The carpet did last over 3 years which is pretty good for ozite.
Jason you have to come back and run stock with us. It's close fun racing.
Jason Lambert 11-16-2004, 11:20 PM I remember that the carpet was stapled down around the outer edges, I didn't think that the original carpet was glued, but I could be wrong. I do remember it having that squirmy feel like florida, which is not glued down... the feel was similar, so I assumed it wasn't. Either way, new carpet should be better. I'd avoid the black though.. it's jsut too dark to really tell when there's alot of groove. I'll try to make it up sometime this year, and I'll make sure I bring my short shoes.... or maybe a helmet for the low beams :)
Outlaw 44 11-17-2004, 10:09 AM Excellent decision!!!!
To be honest, i had never seen such difficult racing conditions since I raced at the 1-89 mall in Burlington on that brown shag you had for carpet!
New carpet will help a bunch. And with the existing banking it will be awesome!
