For who haven't heard, Josh Cyrul has opened an indoor carpet track and hobby shop in Toledo Ohio. He has had road course racing and is just about ready for oval. The track is 81'X36'. He has also started a thread on RCtech (I hope I don't get into trouble for that) with all of the information on his place. He asked me to post this to see what kind of interest there might be.:

Just to let everyone know, Josh should have everything needed for oval racing ready for this Sunday (11/14/04). He was wondering how much of an interest there is to race oval this Sunday, 11/14? The schedule for racing would be road course racing on Sat, 11/13, oval racing Sunday, 11/14, maybe oval practice Tues, 11/16, then back to road course until Sunday 12/5. He is closed on Mondays. If there is not enough interest he will stay with road course until 12/5. So if you are interested post your thoughts here.

Ernie, so far there are three people that have shown an intrest. You might want to call on Sat. to see what has been decided (419-693-0253). I would hate for people to come down, over, up to find out that there wasn't enough intrest and we are running road cource.

Just to let everyone know Halo is open for oval racing. Yesterday Josh cut the "ice" and we set up the track for oval. Racing will be on Sundays, door will open at 9:00 am and racing will start at 12:00. Oval practice will be on Tuesday's, noon till 9:00. He is closed on Monday's, something about needing a day off. If you would like more info, the phone number for Halo Hobbies is: 419-693-0248. Also if you haven't heard, the ROAR oval nats are going to be held here.

Josh I had a great time today. I think the track is going to make for some great racing and should make for a very fun NATS.

This past sunday and today (tues) were the first days the oval was setup and the track is very fun. The track is going to be setup to be as close to Snowbirds size as possible so it will make for some good testing. When I first put the car down it was very green but I would say after about 4 packs of just me running mod traction wasn't all that bad. I think it is going to get insane high and be very much like Snowbirds and ROAR Nats once there are more people running on it.

The track is very smooth and the way the carpet is layed down there are no seams in the middle of the turns. It is the CRC Ozite which is the same stuff they are going to use at the Birds this year. Halo Hobbies is also very well stocked and they just got in about every part an oval racer could need for tuning thier hot rod.

So come on out for some racing action on Sundays and practice on tuesday. If you have any questions feel free to post hear.

Since we have yet to run oval, so I am not sure what classes there might be, you might want to bring a stocker also. We have yet to run a 19T on-road sedan class.

I practiced this past weekend and the track really good. Once we get more guys running on it tracton is going to be amazing. And remember that this is the same carpet they are going to use at the Snowbirds this year so this is the best place to practice at.

Don't forget that this is the home of the 2005 ROAR Carpet Oval Nats!!!!

Josh's runline is probably 165', even though the rest of us would run 160'....lol.

(He needs to tighten his line up in the corners... )

Good to hear that we have another new oval!!!

Sounds like a good show, but I can’t make it on the 26th due to family commitments.

Somebody mentioned Josh was thinking about having a Snowbirds Warm-up in mid January. Any updates on this.

Ask and you shall recieve. By popular demand on the Snowbirds warm-up thread it is looking to be the 15-16 of Jan. with the following week being an on-road warm-up.

See everyone on sunday.

Monti,

Also read the Snowbirds warm-up race thread. I don't remember how many laps Mike Ulbrik went for TQ but I had fast lap at 3.67 until Mike went 3.63 in the 3rd qualifier. We were the only 2 to go 3.6. Zubie even made the A and didn't run. He did pick Racknor to win and he did.

For the first day of real racing I think most will agree traction came up really well and Halo is going to be the best test track for the Birds (it is the same CRC carpet) and is going to make for a great track for the Nats this year.
