erock1331 11-09-2004, 11:03 AM Ok how many can they hold in the pits....
I copied Josh Cyrul's post on another board:
We have 59 pit spaces @ 3'6" x 2'. We also have the store across the hall for extra pit space if it was needed. We could fit around 300 people if needed...
WOOOOOHOOOOOOO,oval nats close home this year,Thanks Dale!!!!!!!! Think you could persuade ROAR into a spec class or 2?!?!?!
Billy W 11-15-2004, 06:32 PM Yep Danny, i know of at least one i can make it to.....
17driver 11-15-2004, 06:34 PM Brushless is close to spec class.
Monti007 11-15-2004, 06:49 PM brushless is the coolest class ever!
-Monti-
Just lookin to run what's in the box, tired of buying.Spec is what's happening around this area. When you can run within a lap of what 3/4ths of the 4c 19t class ran at the '03 nats with a $20 battery pack and a $25 motor,it's time to re-think priorities.
Monti007 11-16-2004, 04:06 PM But DK brusless is about half a tenth faster than 4 cell 19t and you will never have to take the thing out of your car! EVER! Just bolt in batteries and go! You could sell the dyno, and com lathe because you will never need them again! How cool does that sound? Good luck racing to ya buddy I hope to come back south this summer!
-Monti-
LOL,i'm gettin too old to go much faster Monti, bout to go blind! Are they 4 or 6c?3300's? Hope you make it down too.
Rickity Racer 11-16-2004, 07:53 PM GO NITRO and batteries are a thing of the past.
burbs 11-16-2004, 08:56 PM yeah lets run nitro at the INDOOR carpet nats.. ...im sure josh wouldnt mind fuel all over his new carpet.. maybe we can ask him after he wakes up from the fumes... oval nitro has come and gone.. it was very small, and just not like electric.. sorry
Monti007 11-16-2004, 10:07 PM DK they run on 4 cells just fine. The stock motor version is about a lap faster than a normal 4 cell stock car. I guess what I am trying to say when everyone was going to 4 cell 10yrs ago everyone thought it was a silly idea now look. Six cells look almost silly in these cars. my whole points is that I really think brushless is the next step in RC racing, and should be considered or given a fair shot.
-Monti-
We'll watch and see,you know how fickle us r/c racers are!
kevina250 11-16-2004, 11:56 PM I think the comment was for the Outdoor burbs.
burbs 11-17-2004, 01:44 AM i gather that.. but every post i have seen from rickity is more less a smart #$% comment... so mine was to. thats alll....im sure it was meant for outdoors.. but this being and indoor thread i posted what i did...

burps: This is the title and first post on this tread, I couldn't find anything that said it was a indoor thread only and I don't think that DK47 is a carpet racer, so the comment to Go Nitro was a valid post. Now whos the smart *$%???

JeffPatch29 01-11-2005, 07:47 PM Does anyone know where I can find hotel info, entry fee, entry form, or any specifics concerning the 2005 Carpet Oval Nats? Trying to get as much planning done ahead of time as I can. Thanks in advance.
DynoMoHum 01-13-2005, 11:16 AM How about Rules for brushless... Are there any offical ROAR brushless rules for 2005? When I downloaded the 2005 ROAR rule book, I couldn't find any refferance to burshless...
Krisfo 01-16-2005, 07:41 PM Check your Rev up newsletter......past issues....I belive the one I found the rules in was an orange/white trim newsletter....

Smalls 01-23-2005, 10:45 PM Any info on the race available yet?
crikhat 01-24-2005, 04:50 PM What Is The Most Practical Car To Run Indoor At Halo? Any Help Is Appreciated...thanks
oldguy 02-04-2005, 10:39 AM The "EDGE" 1/10 pan car by Leading Edge worked very well a couple weeks ago at a warmup race at Halo. Mod was won by Mike Ulbrick, and Stock was won by Jamie Hanson, with Ernie Parsons a close second. All three guys were running EDGE cars on TM tires.
erock1331 02-04-2005, 01:04 PM Any new info on this race, race flyer, hotels,
is this a 2 or 3 day race?
What are practice and race times.
Come on ROAR we need some info on this one so we can get vacation time and hotels booked.
burbs 02-05-2005, 04:43 PM crickhat.. all cars will work the same with the right setup, and right driver behind them.. in my opinion, there is very few if any cars that work better then the others... some are easier to setup, so they give the ilusion.. get whatever car you want... get to know it.. and ask the locals for help..
JeffPatch29 02-06-2005, 02:08 PM Due to a lack of interest in promoting this event, I've decided not to go. Some people may think that releasing information one month before the event is enough time, well it may be enough time for locals, it isn't for those who travel. I have posted nureous times for information, and have recieved nothing from roar or the local track. I will be attending the ARCOR nationals instead, where as they take the time to answer questions and get information out wel in advance. I have also talked to many other that will not be attedning this race, simply because of the way ROAR doea business when it comes to rule changes. They have shot themselves in the foot on this one, and I don't expect this race to be as big as it has been in years past.
haysreeling 02-06-2005, 03:32 PM A race is a race, I'll still be there but some info would be nice.

Carpet Oval Nats:Halo Hobbies,Toledo,Oh 4/21/05-4/24/05 the race is almost 3 months away not one month... i do agree some info soon is needed.. before it gets to be one month... I also agree ROAR and suddon rule changes is kid of embarassing for them... ive never seen a sanctioning body, spend so much time on rules, then change them as they go.. It is so simple.. they should have gone with arcor rules from the get go.. there rules are consistent, and dont change on a fly by night decision...Some things arcor does i do not agree with.. they are not perfect either.. but the roar and rule changes needs to stop...
Since there was no plans for a region 5 race, i was going to attend the region 8 race... they have also changed a rule for that event...
the roar rule book states 4 minute races... they are allowing races to be 5 minutes...Im sorry.. if you want to hold a roar event, you need to follow the rules.. Not persuade your director to deviate from the set rules...
I most likley will attend this race.. mainly because roar races are not held in a 3 state area.. they make it better for people to travel.. \
erock1331 02-07-2005, 11:57 AM Burbs you comin down to Classic for the ARCOR open?
DynoMoHum 02-07-2005, 11:57 AM I haven't seen any responses from ROAR in quite a while. At least in the past they would respond to questions on hobbytalk... Unfortunately I'm going to be out of town that week, so even though it's only about a hour and a half from my home, I won't be going... At least not as a racer, I'm going to try and get back to possibly go and watch the final day.
burbs 02-07-2005, 11:52 PM Burbs you comin down to Classic for the ARCOR open?
Erock... its looking like a good plan as fo late... But im not sure yet.. I havent been on a banked carpet track, in prolly 11 years...
erock1331 02-08-2005, 11:57 AM Burbs,
ah who cares it's like riding a bike it will all come back to ya, if you need any setup help just ask.....
I can get you close for stock or 19T.
Kenny B 02-16-2005, 12:44 AM Carpet nats flyer has been completed and should be posted on the ROAR website hopefully this week. The flyer was complete this past week while at Snowbirds (Dennis Samson previous competition director had resigned and David Lee has accepted and assumed his responsibilities...a little overwhelming for anybody trying to jump in). If you need it sooner to help distribute please e-mail me and I will send it out to you. I appreciate the help!
We have also nailed down the Region 5 carpet oval race. Josh will also hold the race a little over a month prior on March 11-13.
Burbs....I have not provided any deviations for 5 minute runs in Region 8 races...where have you seen that?
I also saw about ROAR response....I try and check weekly can't spend all the time. E-mail also works well.
If schedule works out, I hope to be at both events for the region. I may not be there in March as I have ROAR Excomm meeting on March 3-5 and I am to be the DRO at onroad carpet nats March 18-21 as well as a lengthy business trip to the west coast either prior to the ExComm meeting or after. Need to be home in there sometime as my wife works mandatory Saturdays and need to be with the kids!

Kenny B 02-16-2005, 01:05 AM Burbs...no rule changes planned for nats! And last years....everyone at the race that hasn't posted agreed with the rule change....there was much more to lose from no change than with the change. The timing was my fault as for not pushing the for resolution earlier, but we are not a fulltime employees and work out what we can when we can. The hobby and all classes have excelled.....can we move on from there?
Thanks for the help!

erock1331 02-16-2005, 09:37 AM What is the handout stock motor going to be at the nats?
Also Why do we have to have a personal, Don't they have Transponders???
to run stock and buy 1extra motor and transponder.....170.00 Does anyone else see this as a little high????
jkohan 02-16-2005, 08:48 PM Also Why do we have to have a personal, Don't they have Transponders???
ROAR rule 12.3.4 Personal transponders will be required at level 4 races. These must be uniquely numbered per driver. No sharing of PTs between drivers is allowed, although an individual driver may use a single PT for all vehicles entered.
erock1331] What is the handout stock motor going to be at the nats? [/font]
The handout has not yet been decided.
Thank's for the responce, I haven't raced roar in awhile. I won't be running this one either just dont have the cash,,,, good luck to everone that does run

Kenny it was my understanding that in 05 all Nats will include brushless as a National class. Is this correct or is it still an exhibition class?
Kenny B 02-16-2005, 11:56 PM Brushless is still an exhibition class. The host track decides what, if any classes they want to run past the four required. The classes run follow the 2005 nationals guidelines.
As far as personal transponders...it is a rule requirement. Anybody racing at that level will most likely have a personal transponder or access to one. This also puts the scoring to the racer to avoid misplaced or lost transponders. One less expense for the host tracks as well.

Kenny B 02-17-2005, 08:31 PM TIME FOR EVERY BRUSHLESS RACER TO SPEAK UP. I called Josh tonight and we discussed the option of substituting a brushless 1/10th scale class for the 1/12th stock class. Josh is open to but it will be sell and COMITTMENT FOR YOUR ATTENDANCE to have the class. Josh has held the NORRCA nats and typical race nights with none to little brushless interest. IF YOU WANT THIS CLASS you will need to commit to being there.
Again ROAR does not dictate classes as brushless is not an offical class as of yet. ROAR has been on the forefrontof brushless but THERE ARE WAY TOO MANY THINGs to hash out prior to setting rules. Bob Novak has been at the last two ExComm meetings discussing the class. So please stop the ROAR bashing as it is not necessary.
E-mail ONLY DO NOT CALL AND BUG HIM at joshcyrul@cefx.net and me at kenny@team1rc.com . You are being asked to provide written confirmation that YOU will attend if the class is offered. EACH PERSON ASKIGN TO HAVE BRUSHLESS MUST REPLY NOT JUST ONE PERSON SAYING HE/SHE WILL BRING 6 DRIVERS. WE WILL NEED A TRUE HEAD COUNT. Josh and I will talk in few days to discuss the final decisin on class swapping. Brushless would replace one 1/12TH class and not be added to the class inventory.
I have stepped to the plate for us oval guys a few years ago under the same situation, and the class attendance was a flop. Make it happen if oyu want it.
