Kenny B 02-18-2005, 12:21 AM Not yet...waiting to see how this plays out for brushless. Kenny B haysreeling 02-18-2005, 01:51 AM How much would the entry fee be for Brushless???? I would consider bringing mine along to run a second class. Hays JR Kenny B 02-18-2005, 10:07 PM Hayes I would think it would similar to mod prices as they bring their own otors as well. Kenny B Smalls 02-22-2005, 09:23 AM I was planning on attending and running 12th stock and 12th 19T. If brushless does get in, I know Mod wont be dropped so which one of the 2 classes should I not plan on running in then? I just cheked out the Race flyer and no reference to brushless. Is this a mute point? mc43 02-22-2005, 01:44 PM at a roar race you can only run stock or mod, 19 turn is considered mod, so you can only run stock or 19 turn DynoMoHum 02-22-2005, 03:52 PM Yeah, but one of those 12th scale clases would be a exhibition race I think... There are no limitations on who can enter a exhibition race is there? I mean if somone runs Mod, and a exhibition race, that's not a problem is it? jflack 02-22-2005, 08:38 PM at a roar race you can only run stock or mod, 19 turn is considered mod, so you can only run stock or 19 turn 2005 ROAR NATIONALS GUIDELINES 25.4 When both are offered at a single event, drivers may enter either the stock or the modified class of a vehicle type, but not both. At events where a 19 turn class is offered in addition to the stock and mod classes for a vehicle type, drivers may enter stock and 19 turn or 19 turn and modified but not all three. Kenny B 02-24-2005, 01:17 AM Thanks Jflack! Couldn't have said it better. We had made that change last year to assist in getting more to try 19-turn and get the experience in a limited modiefed class as well as more class entries. Kenny B ROAR ExComm jason crist 02-25-2005, 03:02 PM so is there a entry form i can get for this race ? that has deadline and entry fee? also any hotel info ? thanks jason davidl 02-25-2005, 05:59 PM The flyer was approved and ready for distribution at the Snowbirds. I have it as a pdf type file and am not sure how to show it here. Please send email to leeda@tqci.net and I will forward it to you. But if anyone can explain to me how to show it here, I will do so. Or maybe Kenny can help by doing it. haysreeling 02-25-2005, 06:02 PM Jason its posted on this thread on the third page Hays JR jason crist 02-25-2005, 10:03 PM Hays I downloaded it and it wouldn't come up in micro soft version how's it going Hays ? talk to ya later jason jason crist 03-02-2005, 11:10 AM hey guys i need hotel info for the Nats names and phone numbers for some hotels close to the track thanks jason Rocketman 03-07-2005, 11:18 PM would like to know because one flyer says single A mains and another one says triple A mains please someone straighten this out .............. mcsquish 03-08-2005, 05:54 AM Rocketman, where did you find the form that say triple A mains? It should be singles. As far as I know. jason crist 03-08-2005, 09:48 AM mcsquish hey man what hotels ae round the track ? need info and i'm sure otheres could use it for the nats thanks jason mcsquish 03-08-2005, 03:47 PM Here is some info that Josh gave me to post. Attached Fileshttp://www.hobbytalk.com/bbs1/images/attach/doc.gif2005ROAR Carpet Oval Nats2.doc (http://www.hobbytalk.com/bbs1/attachment.php?attachmentid=16057) (34.0 KB, 42 views) I forgot to post this here. It is over in the Oval racing area. Sorry. Rocketman 03-08-2005, 06:12 PM mcsquish.. its on the form that you posted on here read down on the bottom of the page where it lists the schedule for the week ... Kenny B 03-12-2005, 11:58 AM ALL oval races national and regionals are single a-mains. See ROAR Rule Book 12.3.7.2 Kenny B jason crist 03-14-2005, 12:20 PM I didn't see where it says how much will it cost to join Roar for the 1 race deal. can someone post asap the cost on that before the deadline....... thanks jason jkohan 03-14-2005, 01:49 PM Jason, a single event membership is $15. But for a National event it is required to have a full membership. The cost for a full year is $30. The late fee starts March 24th, so get those entries in if you haven't already. Kenny B 03-14-2005, 10:48 PM John is right. Single event memberships are valid for regionals (level 3 races) and below. The 24th is coming, get them in!!!! jason crist 03-15-2005, 12:09 AM Kenny can we get the single event membership at the race so I pay $50 for entry and then $30 for membership correct ? just trying to get everything lined up with no surprises thanks jason Kenny B 03-16-2005, 02:49 PM Hi Jason, Yes. No single event memberships are avilable at nats. You will need to register as a full membership of $30 plus your entry fee. Look forward to seeign oyu there. Kenny B jason crist 03-16-2005, 09:55 PM Kenny i understand thanks now can we pay at the track the membership ? or or do we pay $80.00 for everything when we send in our entry ? i'm running 19 turn so i know the price is $50.00 also what is the hand out for stock motors ? is there a price break on a second class? if i sign up for a second class at the track am i going to have to pay the late fee of $20.00 ? thanks jason Kenny B 03-16-2005, 11:11 PM You can sign up at the event for a memebrship. You shouldn't be charged for second class as far as a late fee. However fro trophies awards, it's best to enter early. I would enter both classes now and pay the mebership fee at the track. If there is price break it would be on the entry form. I personally don't recall one. You'll have to ask Josh what the motor is. To date I am not aware of it. Kenny B Krisfo 03-18-2005, 12:26 AM Kenny, Okay this is prolly gonna upset some people. But why do you require that entrants have a full membership in ROAR? If the whole point is to get attendance up at these races, then why say 65.00 entry fee for stock, 25.00 an extra motor, and then 30.00 dollars for a full membership???? Sounds like to me its ROAR's way of weeding out the haves and the have nots...Personally I fit in between and was planning on going.....but after hearing all this stuff I am thinking seriously of skipping it and a few others are too..... If I remember right the attendance for the Paved Nats wasn't all that great, and I think it would be benficial for the board members or whoever makes these rules to sit down and retool them so attendance will without a doubt go way up...... I probably have said too much...but I speak my mind.... Krisfo Kenny B 03-18-2005, 07:15 PM Krsitof....if somebody wants to be a national champion for an organization, that individual should be a full member of the organization, correct? You should not be a member just for a day or an event. We can't control the cost of entree fees. Everybody seems to miss the boat that the host tracks are a business and it cost $ to run an event. Nothing is free. We as ROAR have gone to handout tires for paved oval races to help even the playing field and reduce the cost of having a bunch of different tires to find the right combo. Remember, most drivers wait to sign up at the track for their memberhsip. Sign up early, send it now. With being a member attend a few more ROAR races, regionals, another nationals, or series event (such as the Midwest Series, Great Lakes Challenge, etc.) ARCOR is $20, NORRCA is $25. NORRCA offers an "event by event" membership of $12. NORRCA is similar to ROAR except we maintian single event memebrships at level 3 (regionals or below) and you have no voting priveledges or rule book until full membership is paid in both orgs. Too many people use a membership fee as an excuse to not race. If you want to race, you can plan the costs. There is no planned course or directive to make any nationals have and have not events. Hope to see oyu there. Kenny B DD112 03-22-2005, 01:03 AM Kenny, What is the stock hand out motor for the Nationals going to be? Dan erock1331 03-22-2005, 08:55 AM the stock motor choice is up to josh not roar. i asked josh yesterday on his site, but he hasnt gotten back to me yet on the forum jason crist 03-22-2005, 10:24 AM Erock congrats on the win man you own the stock class on bank ...... but this is flat so good luck and i'll see ya there.. what is the other website for josh ? later jason erock1331 03-22-2005, 03:46 PM Jason, sorry cant take credit for the win at the ARCOR race. I did TQ and win the first main. Was winning the 2nd and 3rd mains but lap traffic got the best of me. Got 2nd overall. Zach Messenger (Dave's boy) won stock. Josh's website is: http://www.cefx.net not sure how often he checks it cause he still has not replied You are right this race is flat which i dont have much experience on. I did TQ 3rd behind Ulbrik and Jamie Hanson my only time at Halo at the Birds warmup but this time I know alot more talent will be there. Goal is just to make the A, but yeah cant wait to run some flat, and glad to be racing with some of the Indy, Mich, Wisc crowd for a change. mcsquish 03-23-2005, 08:17 AM As far as the handout, Josh is working on it. It sounds like it will depend on what True Speed can get his hands on. But no word if it will be Epic, Yok, or Peak base. I'll let everyone know as soon as I find out. Kenny B 03-31-2005, 12:43 AM Stock motor handout selection is up to the host. It jsut has to be an approved ROAR stock motor. Kenny B Greg Anthony 03-31-2005, 02:40 PM Stock motor handout selection is up to the host. It jsut has to be an approved ROAR stock motor. Kenny B What is the rule in the rulebook that states this? I recall Stock Offroad nats couple years ago were using the Core stock as the handout before it was approved.... Kenny B 03-31-2005, 09:30 PM Unknown to me why at that time it was used. But the handouts must ROAR approved stock motors. Kenny B Rickity Racer 04-01-2005, 07:05 PM Kenny: Why do you waste your time with ROAR?? When was the last time you saw a ROAR Oval Worlds? When was the last time "IFMAR" recognized Oval? Are you doing this for the "title", becasue if your not your wasteing your time. Greg Anthony 04-01-2005, 07:21 PM Unknown to me why at that time it was used. But the handouts must ROAR approved stock motors. Kenny B Please refer to the National Guidelines, 26.1.Handouts Dawn Sanchez 04-06-2005, 08:56 PM The Orion Core Stock motor was an approved motor at the time of the Stock Nationals that year. Kenny B 04-10-2005, 01:23 AM Kenny: Why do you waste your time with ROAR?? When was the last time you saw a ROAR Oval Worlds? When was the last time "IFMAR" recognized Oval? Are you doing this for the "title", becasue if your not your wasteing your time. No titles needed here. Am I wasting my time..... I have thought about that many times after reading posts and felling trial by Internet. I do this volunteer work for many reasons and I have also wanted to quit many times for the same reasons. The reasons I do it include: trying to promote a hobby, I believe in sportmanship and competiton (this hobby reminds me of my high school wrestling days...I was 3 time state sectional qualifier in two different classes...always one win (in my case a wrong throw) from making state....r/c and wrestling???? Practice, practice, practice, and luck.), oval needed a spokesperson as number were fading, try to help redirect an established (oh yeah bruised, beaten, roughed up) organization for ALL racing classes not just IFMAR based, try to be a conduit from the decision makers to the members/manufacturers/OEM..etc., meeting racers from all around the country, opportunity to deal directly wiht manufacturers/OEMS, and pride (i.e. see changes in a hobby the improve memberships and participation). I have wanted to just walk away for many reasons which inlcude personal attacks on the Internet/e-mails (always a topic when you as an official publish your direct feelings and held to a different standard when personal attacks or words can be directed towards you with very little to no regard in professionalism or respect), having to always repeat or justify a decision that is made for the whole of hobby, not having raced a sanctioned region of national event in the past 3 years (the upcomign carpets oval nats will be third one not running to be the second DRO for the event as a means of supporting recent expressions of membership for more than 1 ROAR official at an event), long hours of internet chat boards to try direct conversations to the realism of the topic and decisions. I have tried to walk away 3 times...but my wife who knows me all to well has told me point blank..."The members of ROAR voted for you to work for them. And you agreed" Wiht that kind of support (especially from my family)...and the fact that my wife knows I do not quit anythign for any reason (you should hear us argue!! ;-)...I never wrong BTW...doh!) What also keeps me going..is what you read an hear is really only what 5% of what really goes on?? Most people who have goo tings to asay or support changes and decison often do not post. It is often a hand shake from a passerby at race, or quick e-mail...those out weigh any of the lost hair and track time. Oval has made some strong strides in the past 3 years..not perfect but definitley way up! We have 19-turn class and rules with an associated championship title, we have a handout rules for paved oval events to keep cost down...past two events have been awesome, we have managed to change the perception of ROAR to realize oval is not offroad not is it onroad. I have also worked wiht RC Car Action to increase coverage on the oval level. I have covered te last three Snowbirds (to make all drivers/classes got equal coverage), the past three carpets nats (inlcuding this upcomg one), two paved ovals (workign on coverage).... In all...I am here for you. Good bad or indifferent. All I hope I can really do is make your experience at an R/C event as a memorable, fair, professional, and sportsman like event and one that oyu would come back to with additional drivers/spectators. I also hope to finally break open my car kits from Hyperdrive and unseal my BSR cap tires for the last paved nats, assemble the batteries packs, and get some track time. I'll hang in there as long you guys/gals want me too. Thanks for the support! BTW...the only other contries runnign oval are Canada and Austrailia (the run to the right) Give me some time....I have often thought about a an Oval Worlds. Kenny B Joe Racer on the ROAR ExComm erock1331 04-11-2005, 09:37 AM I emailed Greg Vogel from RC Driver and he said they have plans to cover the race at Halo, unless something unexpected comes up. DynoMoHum 04-11-2005, 09:39 AM Well, while I don't always like what ROAR does... However, I admire the folks who volenteer to work for ROAR... especialy somone like Kenny who is interested in promoting oval racing. So, if I ever have, or ever do criisize ROAR or Kenny's comments... it's not because I think they are wasting time... and it's ceritanly nothing personal. So thanks Kenny for standing in there and doing the hard stuff like you do... I'll reserve the right to critize still... but I'm glad you are there and haven't walked away. Kenny B 04-13-2005, 09:41 PM I will have the coverage for this race for RC Car Action. Kenny B FishRC 04-14-2005, 08:35 AM Kenny, Thanks for sticking in there for all of us even if it is not oval. Region 5 is what is is right now because your sticking in there. I don't know how you, Rick, Dawn and the rest stick in there with all the BS you have to put up with but I for one thank you! Barooose 04-15-2005, 01:56 PM Nice post Kenny. Alot of us appreciate what you have done/are doing for oval. It's also good that you can handle the fact that we have a right to disagree if something does not seem right from time to time and we hope you don't take it personally. Thanks for the nice words in the rev up though I'm not quite sure what it was for. By the way, you can't afford to loose too much more hair. And too bad about that track record at the Triclone, I'm not gonna let you have it back. hahaha. Kenny B 04-15-2005, 11:33 PM You have it for a few moments until break it in both stock, brushless and 19-turn! I am planning on returnign with a vengence! I just thrilled the record stood for two years! I will be back and hopefully we can Eric to stay between the walls and lines (still haven't figured how to have you complete that deed yet Baroose!) Unitl then! Kenny B jkohan 04-18-2005, 11:16 PM Coming from I-75 south of the city, what is the best way in? I used mapquest last time and ended up making 17.5 right turns :freak: Thanks davidl 04-19-2005, 10:43 AM John, turn east on Rt 795 and take it to the intersection of I-280. Take I-280 towards Detroit to Rt51. Turn left on Rt 51 and go to the first entrance of the Woodville Mall. Follow the drive around the left of the mall till you get to the Elder Berman store. Go in that entrance to the mall, not the store. Turn right at the first aisle and the race track is the second store on the right. Good luck and I look forward to seeing you at the race. mcsquish 04-20-2005, 07:23 AM John, Daves directions are spot on, but instead of walking into the mall where Dave suggested you can come through the back door. When you are pulling up to the Elder Berman store you will notice a area of parkinglot that goes back into the backside of the mall on your right, kind of like a cultasac. Drive back in there and you will notice a white door with green trim that will say Halo Hobbies on it. That is the backdoor. That way you don't have to carry your stuff through the mall. Enjoy the race. vBulletin® v3.8.7, Copyright ©2000-2012, vBulletin Solutions, Inc.
