It is time to get serious about the new track. We need to get ahold of every oval racer in our area and get them involved in the new track. There was bad blood with some people from the get go with the other place. Now it is time top make a change for the better, instead of being talked to like a dog everyone can voice their opinions. I tried to make the other track work, but when i got there no one cared about fixing the track, so now it it time to show people what a real racetrack can be. So everyone lets do our part to get the word out and make this a reality. Thanks Jeff Johnson11

Thanks Mike we will need all the help we can get. We are just alittle lost about how the finance part will work for a club but we are working it all out. We may not be able to pull this together but we are sure going to give it a try. We will need a lot of help to make this happen.
Good to here Pontoon will have a new Oval track soon. It is great that now we have another great place to visit. Let us know the date of your first race and I will try my best to be there.

Hi guys, I am just getting into r/c. The only thing i have right now is a monster truck. I enjoy racing it outdoors at the race place, but i know how alot of you feel. I feel like I have been ignored several times there and it makes it aggrevating to keep going there. But I have also got alot of good info there from Matthew on my truck. I want to get into oval racing, but i have no knowledge of carpet racing or equipment. I have also been following the threads to see what is going to happen. I am not going to take sides or slam either side, I am not like that. I just want to race and have fun.....with that being said.....is there any way I can help in your search I would like to get involved....but you will have to help me get started in oval carpet racing.....I am not sure how much space you need, but i have access to a pole barn with a concrete floor. Let me know, sounds like good things to come.......Jerry

Well Jerry you are more then welcome to get involved with the Oval guys on the new track. As far as a car we could help you find what you need for what you want to spend. We need 4000 S.F. to have a track. Anything would help.

Anyone that wants to help us is welcome and thank you for your comments has I stated before we will need a lot of help to make it happen.

It will depends on the building that we will be able to rent. But I would say three 12 foot wide rolls 70 to 80 feet long. It will take a special type of Ozite carpet for Oval racing.

vfib411
11-02-2004, 11:49 AM
ok Bob, I would be glad to get a quote, dont know if it will do any good but worth a shot....do i ask for ozite or is there a special type of ozite?

Bob Cole
11-02-2004, 11:52 AM
Thanks, all I know is that its Ozite carpet and I thought there was only a few places to get it. I think it only comes in Gray and maybe black but not sure of that.

jajnmj
11-02-2004, 12:27 PM
I think maybe he can find ozite through the carpet store, it is a special kind of carpet that was originaaly built for automtive purposes new car trunk areas where you see the real fine carpet. But if you look up ozite it comes up under other companies other than Calandra!!!!. We need approximatly 36x80 which in ozite carpet rolls is 3 pieces 12x80 or 320 sq. yards, we can get that much carpet from calandra shipped to the door for $1380.00

I just went by & looked at the buildings that we are supposed to see tomorrow. They look very good to me but we will have to wait & see. I'm working on some drawings for the space & for what I think we can afford it looks like 36'x70' will be the best we can do for track size. That is pretty close to what Gene had but a few feet wider.

Maybe this will help?

Calandra fast track ozite

We ordered 3 ... 80ft x 12ft rolls = 320 sq yards

The carpet was 4.00 a sq yard. 1280 + 140 shipping 1420 total.

4.25 a sq yard if order is under 275 sq yards.

You can only buy it in 160 foot rolls or 80ft rolls.
