Is anyone interested in running a Brushless class next Saturday (Nov 13th)?
I have a second car setup with a 4300 system.
I think Hays Sr. had a car ready as well.

Does anyone know where to gear at, for stock?

I was going to buy one, but it seems like a lot of guys are talking brushless, but it hasn't happened there yet.

Now the new LRP brushless speedo is out and the new Reedy brushless motor is out, so what is the brushless class going to run ?? Novak 4300 ? Novak 5800 ? LRP / Reedy brushless ??

I'm all for putting brushless in one of my cars -- just wondering what the class is going to be.

Any info is much appreciated :)

Talking with Scotty a few weeks back, he had told me the decision was made to go with the 4300 system. Stating that this was a good starting place for not only new people, just seasoned racers. Going with the 5800 is simply too fast and could discourage new racers in the class.

I dont know how the different manufacturer systems will differ. It wont be good if they all have ther own systems with different levels of output. I would think going with the Novak system as a rule, would be better in the long run as the company has experience in this area. Plus it may help getting a big brushless oval class/race to Trackside, by Novak?!

Neil,

I am definately interested in running brushless on Saturday. Scotty has said the 4300 system will be what we use, which makes sense. From what I have seen we should be faster than stock and a tick or two slower than 19 turn on carpet with the 4300. Maybe 48 laps in a well set up car at Scotty's? I know Hays will run and my dad has been thinking of geting one as well as Bob Wright. Anyway I hope we can get this going on the 13th because it a lot of fun not dealing with motors all day. I really don't know about the gearing but i think it will be fairly similar to a brushed stock motor.

Less likely to solder them in backwards once they're hooked up....hhehehehehe ughhhhhh who would ever do that. But yeah I'm sure the old man will run his car the 13th. Hopefully I will have my other car built in the near future.

Hey Hays --

If you run brushless -- for sure -- at the Leftover race, and Pat does too, then I'll buy a 4300 this week too and I'll run brushless for that race.

Lemme know !

Jeff.

Hello everyone, Paul Schwanbeck here, I have not spoken to Scotty But I dont even think I need to make the call, With the Lack of effort Trackside put into the oval scene last year, they cant wait to turn us away, I feel extremely let down and everyone knows it was oval that started trackside , And the way the hobby switches from hot to cold, I only hope I can see the day when Oval is big again and Oval can turn its back on trackside, I dont sound pissed or anything do I?
Iam confident that if trackside promoted Oval they would get 30- 40 guys every week easy! I started to type more here but hit delete , because the rage realy started to flow from my pen! On to better places to race! PAUL

i have never ran at trackside but i have heard that it was good times with consistent 20+ people. i recently moved and am now .5 miles from trackside. i was looking forward to the short commute for carpet season and nearby hobbystore. now, i have to agree with a post that steve made in another thread - boycott trackside and support those that support us! i have been trying to give all my r/c money (what little there is) to lefthander and tri-clone (also lefthander) all season, but occasionally i needed something small right away and i went to trackside. now ill wait and pay the shipping! as a side note, when i did go there the service was terrible. noone knew oval and they acted like i was a nuisance they couldnt wait to see leave. hays has always been helpful and that is what makes his business and more importantly, the hobby, grow! viva lefthander! nuts to trackside!

We'll be going thru the same thing here at Oshkosh. The "New" Revolution Raceway is snuffing out oval!!

Well....I'm a bit torn here. Obviously Paul is tweaked...along with select others. I won't get into the battle between who believes what's right. I have met so many genuinely good guys in my years of racing with the "trackside guys" and it's like the end of an era. It's sad that it's not going to be there this year, but honestly tearing the program apart and even criticizing the hobby shop is sure not going to re-establish it any faster. You guys are going to go through what we face in Indy rather frequently. It's not encouraging to think that your local track is 2 hours away....but if it is...it is. Oval guys, especially us high dollar travelers(you know who you are), are so hard to make a living off of. We all find the connections to save money and get the best stuff. I know alot of you guys supported Scotty as long as you could, then went elsewhere when you found a better option..no different than myself. so...I'm sure the discussions will continue...but I will close with this:

My first experience racing with Scotty was at Gish's old joint when he announced there. He's done a lot for the hobby since then. I thank him for his efforts and contributions. It's not easy working two jobs and keeping a family happy like he's managed to do....so if something had to give, I'm ok with it being my self interest. I wish the best for him...from his weekly efforts to the giant undertaking in Vegas. I hope someday we can all race together at Trackside again...whether it be special event or not. Please step back a minute to think about what Trackside has allowed so many of us to do. From improving our racing to spawning new r/c businesses....we've all had a great opportunity. If you want to vent...cool. But please, let's be respectful to a guy that's no different from any of us.....a good guy that makes a living for himself and his family and likes to have fun with toy cars along the way.

Bluelineracer, you have to realize one thing, oval was around before T.C.,so why do we get put on the back burner? All I can say is that hopefully this will bring up the car count at tri-clone now that trackside and hobbytown are not going to have oval.I guess we will see what happens this winter.

Guys I'm disappointed too

This has been "brewing" for the past year.

2 years ago carpet racing at Trackside was awesome. Every week I looked forward to the "Friday Night Thunder" at Trackside. It was the perfect time for a lot of us -- many of us took the afternoon off from work to get there after lunch and practice until race time. But I could never get there before Sully (I think he slept in his truck there or something). And the crew that raced was super -- Jim Wick (we miss you Jim), Sully, Paul, Jason, Showtime, Hollywood, Dick Hoooooooooop...........er, Team Reeling, Cory, and the list goes on... I'll never forget those trips back to Cottage Grove with Jim Wick after every Friday night of racing -- back to the bar where he and I would bench race until bar time.

Then... last year it changed to Saturdays... it was the beginning of the end in my opinion. And I think the turnouts bear that out.

I also completely agree with what Dusty said above... I know personally what it is like to have a full time job, a family, and a running a business on top of it. It's a tough road.

Well said Dusty. We're just disappointed to loose such a primo track and announcer. Some of my best r.c. memories were from Trackside. Scotty had a way of making the race between 3rd and 4th place in the D Main exciting. I have met some pretty cool people there that I consider good friends though I don't get to see them enough. And Jim Wick. I think of him often-and I usually envision him at Trackside. I miss "high five" Jimbo and now I guess I'm going to be missing Trackside too.
