For the first time in Trek's 4-decade TV history, we have seen MALE Orions (that weren't disguised as Andorians).

Yeah, I know, big deal.

...and I got $230 worth of new figure models this weekend! (that is, TWO models :freak: )

And the Orions went from an emerald, or kelly green to a milky, olive drap color. For all they made of it, it was very much to do about nothing.

I quit watching the show after UPN took "Special Unit II" off the air. I watched a few episodes at the beginning of last season, and didn't see anything worth the effort of looking in again. But I have to admit that I liked Friday's episode, and will propbably look in again next Friday.

One big problem I have always had with shows that have that situation at the end of the episode. You have weapons that stun, so why do you have a hostage situation? Zap the both of them, throw the malifactor in the brig, and apologise to the Captain after he regains conscious.

Better than I expected, but still with some annoying bits - the old "here come some aliens ships so lets have a phaser battle" scene has been a ridiculous cliche since early Voyager, and I'm pretty sick of it.

But with three years of crap behind them, it's gonna be a real chore to take the show seriously enough to be impressed with ANYthing they do.

John, We agree on the Phaser battles.
I've never been a Spiner fan, but he was outstanding.
I loved that old BoP design.
The Eugencs woman and the Slave girl were fantastic.
I really like Archers new direction.
I think it's time for any Voyager comparisons to go away, the show has clearly set it's sights higher.

I'll continue to stay out of these discussions. Anyone familiar with my posts on the TBBS knows my stance on ENT. My oh my how far Trek has fallen. In ENT's favour it actually makes TNG look good in my eyes--a dubious compliment actually.

I'll stop the Voyager comparisons when they stop doing Voyager-like things - like every greeting between two ships turning into a phaser battle. :)

Anyone who has been folowing the Enterprise debates here will recognize that even with the attempts at improving the show for season 3, there were still a number of negative reviews from television critics. However, if you check out somne of the recent articles on WWW.Trektoday.com (http://www.Trektoday.com), you will see that the recent episode has been met with a positive response from those professional critics.

I take that as an encouraging sign for the show.

So as the show has improved, your all out hatred has waned into tepid acceptance?

As for me, here's one example of me having changed my opinion.

First when Deep Space 9 began airing here around '94 or whenever, I started watching it. I think Babylon 5 started around the same time but the local network did not carry it until '98. By that time, I had just surmised that B5 was a ripoff of DS-9; you know, a cheap copy of Trek's space station adventure series. My wife started watching B5 and implored me to do so as well, saying it was far better than DS-9. I reluctantly agreed. She was right!

Imagine a public admission that the wife was right about something!

Hey John P. I think I saw you at Chiller but wasn't sure so I didn't introduce myself... I was in the Freddy Sweater standing at bwain's table when you were breaking his balls.

Funny thing about the Babylon 5 / DS9 comparison. J Michael Strazinski (B5's creator) has often claimed that Paramount ripped him off. Supposedly, he pitched the idea to them first... they declined, and they a few months later annouced the surprisingly similar DS-9.

As far as Enterprise goes, I appreciate the fact that they are trying to get the show back on track. whether this is possible or not at this point remains to be seen. When the show was first announced, I liked the fact that despite the modern design of the NX-01, they at least attempted to illustrate that this era was 100 years before TOS. I liked that there was no "raise sheilds". I liked that "fire torpedoes" literally meant firing torpedoes. I liked that they were very hesitant to say "energize", because the act of transporting was still a very scary prospect.

It's a shame they were so quick to abandon these challenges that could have made for much more dramatic episodes (in the hands of talented writers... )

All I know is that "The Great Bird Of The Galaxy" Would have been VERY Impressed with the " Orion Slave Girl" LOL I read that Gene liked to "Push The Envelope" when it came to TOS Actresses' Costumes, Now it seems the Networks are a TINY bit more lax (Even Post Janet Jackson lol) Anyhoo That green Skined Beauty looked alot like a Model I've seen on "E" Channel (And a Leading Men's Magazine)named Brooke Burke (IMHO VERY HOT!) lol

I thought this thread's title was ALIEN LANDMARK on Enterprise like an ALIEN movie thing would be seen on the show. An Orion guy? What a let down!

I'm just glad they decided not to give them bumps and/or ridges on their heads, then come up with some kind of "evolution technobabble" to explain it away.

Dave Hussey
11-02-2004, 07:53 AM
I noticed a complete lack of technobabble of any kind. That's a very good thing as the episode succeeded on the strengths of the story and did not rely on poorly contrived plot devices.

Enterprise TOYS question....anyone know if all four of the BRIDGE station diaramas were in stores or even made?

I just now discovered these existed, found two of the sections already at 50% off at TRU: the command chair section with an Archer figure and the Tactical Systems Station section with a Reed figure.

Nothing like these were made for Nxt Gen or the Kirk movie toys that I ever saw.

I hope I connect with the T'Pol Science Station section at least. The show may suck but these toys are great!

I also found that after 5 or 6 years, all the movie Harry Potter toys and figures are no longer in stores! NOT that Mattel made any 10 and 12 inch figures of the girl or the red haired guy which really cheeses me off.

Archer and Reed are the only stations that were widely available. T'Pol was an internet exclusive thru some site, and Mayweather never made it off the drawing board.

Thanks Ziz. No T'Pol station readily avaliable 'eh? I Carumba! My ebay search found just the Archer and Reed ones. I suppose Art Asylum will be bought out next?

Well, maybe I'll just build my TOS Bridge model with the accurizing stuff. I want a Trek bridge in my Star Wars display.

I swear, why bother collecting when this BS with items being exclusive to a site happens or one neve finds out items exist? I just found out these bridge things came out TWO years ago but I never saw any at a store until yesterday.....after the Enterprise line is discontinued and in the junk bins!

Seems like knowlege that an item is exclusive to a site is rather exclusive itself! Why was'nt the T'Pol science station in stores?

I found out the T'Pol station is identical to Reed's (or very similar) going by pics I
saw so if I wanted, I could get another Reed one for T'Pol to sit at. I Have a T'Pol figure already.

I decided to have seperate Trek and Star Wars displays. Since they're in my theater, I can have the big PL A or my Ertl one with Lunar Models parts and rooms added and the TOS Playmates ship and TOS bridge model as well as the two Archer bridge parts and my Art Asylum ship replica.

It seems only right to add my Crabbe Flash Gordon and an elaborate deco ray gun I found suited to Sam Jone's Flash movie in style somewhere nearby as the Flash Gordon movies were almost the birth of sci fi on the movie screen.

I wish I could've gotten those resin accurizing parts for my MPC Millenium Falcon.

It's a bitch I can't get an actual T'Pol science station for the dialogue bits. I'm sure many missed out on this one.

Hmm, I saw they were selling a few T'Pol stations at the local Toys R' Us here in Edmonton...
