b4wizard 10-25-2004, 10:53 PM Hello Everyone,
If your from the surrounding area drop a line, tell us whats going on at your track.
There's 1 new track in Tuscaloosa, Ala., 1 older track in Jackson,Ms. Sometimes there's track around people just don't know about.
So let people know.
Have car, will travel.
jones 10-26-2004, 05:04 PM What he said!
Gotjuice? 10-26-2004, 05:30 PM The classes are on the alabama offroad thread
b4wizard 10-26-2004, 08:53 PM If people went by ROAR rules if only for guidelines, would know what the classes are.LRL
Rufus,
Thats the downside to having a truggy. People don't mind if you run with them, but just as soon as they figure you have an unfair advantage they will start to squeal. You'll just have to run second or third until the last lap.
jones 10-27-2004, 09:11 AM Everyone always says "what does roar do for me" Easy, they help keep racing fair and also provide that dooms days insurance. Just in case someone does get hurt by your rc car.
b4wizard 10-27-2004, 09:20 AM And with gas it is more likely to happen.
b4wizard 10-30-2004, 12:54 PM hey jones,
You going to Ed's place on the 13th for the "Gobbler Classic".
I really wanted to go T-town for their first off-road race, but will have to wait till after this race.
Maybe I can talk jjdu4 into going and taking the crown.lol
Or maybe I'll take the Tamiya.lol
b4wizard 10-30-2004, 10:56 PM jones,
Also found out Saturday night that Redstick is moving to a 5:00pm starting time. Being the way they usually run the races there, usually takes about 4 hours, should be home by midnight or 1:00am with no stops on the way home.
Rainey 11-01-2004, 10:43 PM Just wanted to drop a note to the gas guys that read this board that Small Cars Unlimited has re-worked the nitro track and added ALOT more track to it. Lap times were in the 49-53 second range to the leader. Only made 6 laps in the 5 minute race! (1/8 scale buggie!) Just thought i would give you guys a "heads-up" before the 13th race..... things have changed!
BTW- someone on SCU board made a post saying they were going to post a pic but havn't seen one posted yet.
b4wizard 11-02-2004, 12:51 AM Rainey,
Has the electric track changed any. What time are the races and sign-up suppose to open and close. I understand Terry V. is back helping with things.
Nearly a minute to make a lap, thats big.
Does it cross the road or through the bowling alley.lol
Tommy
Rainey 11-02-2004, 09:17 AM havn't heard anything about a time change yet but for the ""bigger" races the sign-up is usually ends at 10:00 am. races at 11:00 but if I hear anything otherwise i'll post it. I havn't made it out to the track in a couple of weeks... other things going on, but i dont think the electric track has changed any. And as for Terry.... dont know. Wouldnt hurt if he is though
jones 11-02-2004, 12:00 PM I'm going to try to go to the classic. More than likely yes.
Ya that stinks about redstick. that would put me getting home around 4:30-5:00 sunday am.
jones 11-02-2004, 12:03 PM After the classic it looks like my racing is done! Can't go to t-town can't go to br and it's about to start getting cold for meridian and they are going to stop for the year. Looks my racing days are numbered for the year.

Where did that come from.
The last I heard Ed had no comment on ROAR. Now it's required.
I had rather spend the $30 on that shiny go fast part that makes me two tenths faster.
Tommy
Rainey 11-02-2004, 11:20 PM that has been for every event that Ed has held at SCU. It was in place for the off-road this a while back.... he just never checks to see if everyone has a membership. I included that because it was printed on the flyer. I have seen people race out there for months with no membership and no one asked.I guess he would like it so everyone would have some kind of insurance coverage. Not trying to start any battles about what anyone should or should not do. I know you are not very happy with th ROAR thing altogether.
b4wizard 11-03-2004, 12:21 AM Personally, I don't see how they (roar) gets anything accomplished. Every member of the executive committee live in different parts of the US of A. Like when would they all be at the same table to decide anything on the scales that they do. I got more response from them when they heard I quit, than when I would ask about legal things. There was only one person that would talk to me anytime I wanted. And to this day will drop me a line just staying in touch.
I would'nt say I'm totally against it, but I can put that money somewhere else. Almost the price of a battery pack, or a gallon of fuel, or something like that. I know people that would stay at home and say the heck with it if they had to join.
As long as I've done this, I've never heard of a claim. Also if its only racers turn marshalling, they can't have a claim against ROAR or Ed.
Not saying what they could get there own insurance company to do, if something should happen.
Basically, its only protects someone from the people thats not racing. That's why places need walls where gas is run.
I could set around and talk about the pro's and con's of it for a while, but it gets boring.
Tommy
Rainey 11-03-2004, 09:32 AM Dont get me wrong.... i see you're point clearly. I know you had strong feeling sonce you were a rep for a while. I'm not real sure if it's a "gotta do" thing for the insurance or just to be "legal" and in "good graces" with the powers to be at ROAR. Me personally.... I dont care... with a card or not I just want to race, have fun and enjoy myself. I have made some good friends by doing this and have had some great times. Not much is more fun that trying to run a race and have Terry, Wilson, Bates, Gatewood, Ect,ect up on the stand talking smack and making comments to the point where you are laughing soo hard you're eyes water and you can't see you're car! I say come and race... and if the "card" issue comes up just say.. "I have it but left it at home and I dont know my number"...... :D
b4wizard 11-03-2004, 10:38 AM O, I'm gonna be there, Lord willing and the creek don't rise.
jones 11-04-2004, 03:30 PM yup yup
b4wizard 11-04-2004, 08:24 PM jones,
that might be used against you in a court of r/c law.
b4wizard 11-06-2004, 10:47 PM jones,
I've got to get some new batteries if I continue to do what we did Friday night. I checked the two packs that I thought were bad, and sure enough they were. One only had runtime for 4 minutes, and the other for 4 1/2 minutes at 20 amps. No wonder the 10 turn wouldn't run for long. Gotta get me a REVOLUTION. I wonder if Ed has them.
They are saying the high for Saturday in the lower 60's.
Reckon we'll need the big red tent. If it's gonna be cool may not need it. It's at the store where we left if from the last time we used it.
Ryan is going to Jackson, called me last night. Man, he's pumped about this off-road stuff. He said they didn't have any buggies in T-town. Wish Casey and Cruiser could make it. Going to be fun.
Tommy.
Rainey 11-08-2004, 03:44 PM here is a link to some pics of the new nitro at Small Cars. Track is alot longer than before and some new twist. should be interesting
http://www.smallcarsunlimited.com/community/modules.php?set_albumName=album04&op=modload&name=gallery&file=index&include=view_album.php
Thunder Valley 11-09-2004, 01:46 AM Sweet lookin track. Wish I lived closer to race you guys.
jones 11-09-2004, 10:20 AM Ya. I guess I need to go to the Rc shop and get some parts! The tent wouldn't be a bad idea. I need someone to show me how to change clutch shoes out. I can't fiqure out how to get them off. I know my mgt would run better if I changed shoes.
jones 11-09-2004, 10:25 AM Is that a WooD JumP?! LOL That looks like That's going to be sick. I can see it now. My mgt breaking into hundreds of parts! Oh well It's going to be fun doing it! I really need to work on my truck now!
b4wizard 11-11-2004, 03:19 PM Rainey,
Has or did anyone work on the electric off-road track this week?
Tommy
Rainey 11-11-2004, 05:55 PM Tommy, I dont think any one has because of the rain we got today. As far as layout-- no, it will be the same as the Regional race. But yes, it will be worked on so that it will be ready to race Sat.
I do know that alot of the 1/8 guys had been practicing every night this week to try to get a feel for thier new track. Pretty long and different that before. Not dragstrips with turns at the ends. and yes... that is a wood ramp..... but not real sure if it will stay. looks cool but has alot of pitch and cars/trucks get some major air!
b4wizard 11-11-2004, 06:09 PM I talked to Bates last week and he was wanting to. He to said it would probally be the same layout. He just wanted to dress up the jumps a little bit.
Tommy
Rainey 11-11-2004, 08:14 PM I havnt been by so if anything was changed, i havnt heard about it. Bates was also talking about changing the on-road track too or atleast running it backwards to make it alittle more exciting.
b4wizard 11-11-2004, 11:07 PM From everything I've heard its going to be a long day. Sounds like there's going to be alot of people there with all the tracks running. I believe a good many from Louisiana are coming up. Hope it turns out to be a nice day and we get through before the sun goes down. Although the weather only says in the 50's for lows and 20%.
Hey jones, I think I'll bring the tent.
jones 11-12-2004, 10:23 AM It's up to you. We don't have to put it up untill we need it! I hope it is sunny. It's been overcast every am and pm up here. Depressing! I can't wait.
Rainey 11-12-2004, 12:22 PM Tommy... I hope a ton of people show up! I will prob. never get to run one of those big Reg or National races so these types of races are the closest I will ever get. But the good thing is that I don't have to travel too far to get my *ss handed to me!!!!!
Rainey
jones 11-12-2004, 06:57 PM We will be there bright and early! Looks like its going to be cloudy.
Rufus 11-12-2004, 09:43 PM Lamar and I will be leaving around 6:30 or so. Did yall get that I said Lamar!!
b4wizard 11-14-2004, 01:28 PM Well, I think everyone had a goodtime. I did. Pretty sure Josh, Ryan and Lamar did to. Glad D.Bates had a lot going on or he would have set his radio for the motor change. His touring car and buggy was dialed. That was what I needed for the win. It was cold, but not as bad as I thought it would get. I think it was a larger turnout for this race than the regionals. Ryan came from the back of the pack to finish 4th or 5th in the A-main. Lamar hasn't touched his stuff in 6 months and ran really well. Maybe he will hang around for awhile until school starts back at USM.
Rainey, you should think about some road travel, you ran really good. Just keep it up.
Josh,
I was setting here looking at lap times and your fastest was within a half second of mine. So we're not far off. Just need to run off-road more often, learn to make more adjustments. Race around more folks.
O yea, you got my tire washer or someone else liked it more than me. I think I left it in the back of your truck.
Tommy
Rufus 11-14-2004, 11:54 PM Guys I had a good time I didnt run as well as I had hoped, but sometimes days just go like that. I learned alot and cant wait to do it again.
b4wizard 11-14-2004, 11:56 PM Yep, It was cool, definitely. Lots of fun.
Rufus, You should have gotten an award for the airtime, front flip, back flips.
jones 11-15-2004, 11:33 AM Ya, I need to race around folks more often. I got violated! I pulled out a fourth place I think! It's funny because I heard my named called out in second alot but everytime I had to lap some one I got lawn darted! One dude hit me and just kept on the gas and the turn marshal couldn't get us until he quit. In the third heat I got violated big time! Turn marshal jumped on my car! I was going thru the triple then all of a sudden ther is a foot on my car! Then the same turn marshal took me out on the streight. Standing in the middle of the track. I thought he was getting out of the way. I was wrong!
But besides that I had alot of fun! It was good racing. I would do it again.
If that turn marshal reads this. It's ok I don't hold any hard feeling's. I know you where trying to help. That's just how it goes sometimes. Although it was funny. I'm racing along and all of a sudden someones standing on my car! I said, MY CAR!!!!
mclake 11-15-2004, 11:50 AM Sound like you guys had a good time, I wish that I could have made it. Are any of yall going to come over for the off-road this weekend?
Michael
jones 11-15-2004, 12:39 PM Tommy, I do have your tire brush. It sure is nice! To bad you left it in the back of my truck!
Jokeing! I'll give it back.
Rainey 11-15-2004, 06:51 PM Thanks to everyone who came out and raced. Had a great time even with the cold weather. Wished w could do that more often. And yes Tommy, I have been thinking about traveling... Terry and some others have been talking about going to Redstick so I will prob give that a try. Also would like to run T-town some and maybe the "new" meridian track.... if it comes through
Mark W
Rufus 11-15-2004, 08:41 PM whats the plans for this weekend, anyone gonna run the oval, I would like to run the buggies and trucks together since I missed it last time.
b4wizard 11-15-2004, 11:57 PM Rainey, Josh, Ryan and whoever else interested,
I got some e-mail tonight from Redstick and they are planning on having a special race on December 4th. Trinity and Losi are sponsering the race. So they are sending nice door prizes. Races start at 10:00am.
I know I'm going for sure. Wouldn't want to miss it. Maybe ya'll can hold off going until then. Be a lot of folks there and some great driving going on. Only $15 first class.
They also may be having the Mod. Nationals next year.(rumor going around) May have to learn how to drive on of those. I know Terry and David would want to go to that.
Tommy
jones 11-16-2004, 10:30 AM Sign me up! I'm going. For sure. This is what I am talking about! I have got to start practicing somewhere.
Gotjuice? 11-16-2004, 12:46 PM Sunday is the Offroad at T-Town. Air time starts at 2:00 sharp.
TheJuice?Man
Rainey 11-16-2004, 01:56 PM Tommy.... have you looked over at Trinnty's site and read all the stuff in the "Tect Talk" forum? Seems alot of others are not happy with ROAR and alot of bickering and finger pointing!!
Looks like others are ready to dump the whole ROAR deal also....
(psst... my licenced expired before last weekend's race...... and no one asked! LOL)
Mark
b4wizard 11-17-2004, 12:42 AM Rainey,
Yep, I've seen it to. Sometimes it's at this site to under the ROAR thread. There is just to many things wrong with ROAR right now. Not saying that they haven't done anything good, but it does need some work. I keep hearing NORRCA pop up a lot here lately. Some tracks just accept ROAR rules as they are, and make changes as they see fit. Which is good if everyone knows about it.
Just look at the monster truck class. They have been having big races for over a year know, and not one rule from ROAR has surfaced since it started. And they keep getting bigger and faster. And at the rate they are growing, soon you will be able to ride in one.lol
I'm pretty sure Josh and me are going to Redstick for the race in December. I think we are going down on a Friday night.(possibility) Try to talk Bates into going. Its a lot of fun. Would be great if some others from Meridian would go.
Hint, hint.
Tommy
jones 11-17-2004, 10:30 AM yup, yup I'm going!
b4wizard 11-18-2004, 09:41 PM Mary from Redstick tells me that she has heard that people from Florida and Texas( Houston area) are planning on being there. This could turnout to be bigger than the Cajun race she has every year. Which had 180 something. That would be tough to do. But with it being two qualifiers and the mains, they can do it. The cost for the races is $15,$20,$25 for the first three classes. If you run more its on them. I'm not sure if its a bargain, or setting yourself up for torture. :jest:
Jones,
Lamar said he is interested in going. Now if we can talk Ryan into it.
Tommy B.
