While not advertised as Monster Fest, AMC will be running a slew of horror films. TCM checks in with their holiday treats, ABC Tuesday begins with "It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown" and continues with Halloween-themed Situation comedies, ABC Family has their "13 Days of Halloween" going...so what else is out there?
And of course, what DVDs do you plan to view?

Watched two of the Jekyll and Hydes on TCM last night and the mini-series version of The Shining on SciFi was fun.

Yeah - I watched the March version and the first hour of the Barrymore version last night (before I fell asleep on the couch). Woke up during the Spencer Tracy version (which I like better than a lot of people do) and went to bed.

With Halloween on Sunday and having to get up at 3am on monday I'm gonna make a night of it on saturday. Picked up the Great Pumpkin dvd this past year. Also plan to watch a movie I picked up called Ghost Crazy. 1940s Monogram flick with Shemp Howard, a spooky old house, sliding panels in the walls, and of course, a gorilla. Doesn't look like any more Francis dvds are coming any time soon so I'll remove the shrinkwrap from my VHS of Francis in a Haunted House. Haven't seen it since I was a kid. Maybe finish off with the Ghost and Mr. Chicken dvd. Haven't watched it yet either.

I'm not too impressed with TCM or AMC's program lineup this Halloween. Could be that I've loaded so many tapes from years past. An October tradition is "Something Wicked This Way Comes". Love it.

I'm going to tape "M" and "Unholy Night" from TCM. Haven't seen either.

Selections from the archive I plan to catch before All Hallows Eve are "The Haunting", "Halloween 1", "Nosferatu" and "Dracula".

The Services Squadron folks here have been running all kinds of horror flix this week in the various Morale Movie Tents/Buildings, which has been a nice treat. Tonight they're running the '04 remake of "Dawn of the Dead", along with a number of others. I've still not seen the remake, so am really looking forward to it.

Hallmark Channel has a few good offerings ( although, with commercial interruptions ). Last night they aired "Addams Family Values", tonight they'll be showing part #1 of "Frankenstein".

This is quite a good adaptation of Mary Shelley's book - William Hurt, Donald Sutherland - so, if you're a Frankenstein purist, you'll want to catch this one. Part #2 will be tommorrow (Wednesday) evening. I believe there will be an encore performance late Saturday. http://halloween.hallmarkchannel.com/

Halloween really shines a bad light on AMC. This time of year is a prime example of how far this once-mighty cable channel has fallen.

Just last night, AMC offers the Amityville Horror I and II while TCM gives us
The Mummy, The Invisible Man, The Wolfman and Frankenstein. The latter with crisp prints and completely commercial free.

I know all the details of how AMC must purchase their titles, run commercials, etc. It's just a damned shame because I remember how good they used to be. Thank heaven for TCM.

I'm realllly pissed off that I missed recording Gene Roddenberry's "Spectre" to DVD a few nights ago when Fox Movie Channel ran it. I have it on tape, but this print was beautiful with no commercial breaks - and it was the European version with boobies at the end.
I saw it was on about halfway through and watched the last half.
Anyone Tivo this or record it to DVD? Email me.
Thanks

I too caught the last third of this and thought the nudity was surprising. I never realized there was a European cut. Leave it to Roddenberry to have as much gratuitous nudity as possible God bless him.

Exorcist II at 10EST on SCI-FI. Which is probably the best movie ever made.
I mean where else can you see Richard Burton riding on the back of a Locust model..

All the classic movie channels had good horror movies. Fox Movies had the 1972 TALES FROM THE CRYPT, a movie I never had copied on vhs. It must've been on a beta I threw out.

It's been over a year since I used a vcr with cable tv recording plus this was a different vcr. I never used a vcr with the satelite box and though I tried for 45 minutes to see if I could record it was a failure. I was'nt able to copy this great flick.

Today I found out you had to press the damn AVX button on the vcr remote and to use an input 'channel'.
