Just a pole to see if you would like to start eariler and have 3 heats, go with only 2 heats, or leave things alone.

Is this an official poll ? If so i say start at 4pm and go with 3 heats and the main . getting home at 1am really suks and i'm not liking that .

I was asked by Kenny to find out what the MAJORITY wanted. I thought this would be the best way  .

Make sure you vote.

I voted start earlier but how come 8 people voted and only 4 responded? If we start earlier i think that would be alot better im already there at 11 anyways. lol

The problem with starting at 3:00 IMO is two-fold. One, alot of guys work Saturdays and won't be able to make it. Two, realistically for a 3:00 race means getting there at around 1:00 and probably getting home at around 10:00pm. Speaking strickly for myself, this means very little Saturday time with my family. If I have to make the choice, racing will always come in 2nd. I will be forced to either stop or go elsewhere. I'm not sure a poll on here will truly represent the majority of racers. Some guys don't even know this site exists. Maybe a poll at the track would yield a more accurate opinion. I voted for 2 heats and a main, getting home at 1:00am is getting old in a hurry. But hey I'm only a hacker what the heck do I know :p !!
On a side note, some of us have access to many computers with different ISPs. It wouldn't be difficult to join the group here and vote numerous times undetected. For this reason alone any results generated should be treated with skepticism.

Im down for whatever will draw the most people in. Last night i got home late and i live 15 mins from the track. I was so busy running 3 classes i didnt have time to eat so after the race i went to scottys on exit 16 and had breakfast at 1:30am haha didnt get home till 2.

i like the way it is now. 3 heats and a main 6pm start.

express21
10-24-2004, 01:04 PM
two heats 6:00 start very rarely the third round benefits

Batman26
10-24-2004, 02:10 PM
it really doesn't matter to me what time we start I am there early anyways
3 heat's gives you that one extra chance to make a better run to make a better main
but on the other hand getting out late and the time it takes me to drive home which is almost one-hour of driving so maybe two heat's and the mains might be better

10-25-2004, 07:25 PM
all i know is, if the races start before 6 i cant make it and anyone else that works on saturdays. a long time ago, a track in malta on route 9 used to have all the beginner class's during the day (trucks, novice) and the more experience class's (6 cell stock and mod) at night. that way all the kids can get home early. I still think thats a good idea.

well being a guy who hacked through 10th scale and couldnt quite get it and now owns a mini t i wouldnt mind seeing the classes slightly overlap maybe start the mini-t and truck classes earlier so it overlaps there mains into 1st heat of 10th scale kens shop is a business and if you isolate the two the t drivers will not aspire to run the higher classes if they are not exposed to it. being a guy who works sunday mornin iam all for getting done earlier i would like to get my 11 yo son involved but i dont want to keep him out 1am if you run these classes earlier it will take away some of the playground effect and make more room for the 10th and 12th scale guys

xxxtmfman3
10-26-2004, 09:55 AM
Thats why a 3pm start would be better all the way around but it hurts the guys who work also .....I say run the mini T heats and mains at 3,then everything else at 6 pm......who cares you'll never please everyone no matter where you race Renns or Ken's  i just hate blowin all day sunday for 15 minutes of racin and paying to race is one thing but it's just like payin to work when you have to help teardown the track. :roll:I'm CONFUSED,who knows

Whats wrong with voting and expressing your opinion? I thought thats what he wanted!!! I haven't read any negative comments or flaming opinions. Maybe you should go back and re-read the entire thread and explain to us whats wrong! BTW do you race at Glens Falls?

The Jet

Yea Kirt, it's all good  .
We wanted to see how people felt, positive or negitave, about a different program. Response has been good, and actually I'd like to see even more opinions  .

Keep it coming.

Hey Jet
I know all about it...it never hurts to ask....just kiddin with you.
I call it the racers paradigm. We all want more racers, for better competition, longer raceres, more, and more track time. All of which adds up to more total time, which we all dislike.
I have opinnions, but as I'm not an active GF racers I don't feel I have the right to. I will say that one of the alures of GF is the evening/night aspect available as it frees up the daytime for other activities which usually affects the home life less.

Raz
I don't believe I indicated anyone was negative either? Do you think reality TV shows are negatively based. LOL
Yes, I've raced GF over the years, not much the last few as other duties have kept my racing opportunities confined.

Where's Alvin....he always has an opinion !

FASTALJR
10-27-2004, 01:05 PM
my opinion is that I`m retired so it really dont matter but, I`d say 2 heats and a main, with a 6 pm start. If u cant make the A-main in 2 heats u suck regardless of what u do to the car.

I just heard this as a possible solution...basically have 2 mains. The 3rd heat that we run now would be the first main and you can leave....and....if you would like you can stay and run the 2nd main also which is the normal main.

Actually, nothing at all would be changed other than if you won the 3rd heat you could say you won the first feature.

What do you guys think?

Also, I am not completely sure on the details. Just throwing this out there as another possible fix. At least our problem is that we are getting so many racers that we are trying to find a way get out earlier. It could be worse we could be trying find enough people to make a full heat that would suck.

10-28-2004, 09:37 PM
i doubt it, theres more then half who dont come on here. gotta do a show of hands at the track to get a fair count. al jr voted and he dont even race lol. that isnt fair.

FASTALJR
10-29-2004, 02:04 PM
Just remember that if u start early, its true that he guys who work wont be able to make it. Not many tracks in the Northeast run 3 heats and a main, and if they do they dont have the crowd glens falls is getting. By starting early u are running the risk of losing racers. I know I cant make it that early either way racing or not. Racing at 3 would mean leaving from my front door at 12:00n in order to practice.

2 heats and start at 6 is more than enough racing.

Hey Al-

When are we going to see your smiling face again :freak: ????

disruptor10
10-29-2004, 07:48 PM
The only fair way to vote on this subject is with a ballot at the track handed to us as we sign up or just take the vote as we sign up and be done with it .I say go back to the way it was before it got changed last year 2 HEATS AND A MAIN IS PLENTY OF RACING !!!!!
P.S. if you want more track time Kenny is open plenty of hours to get more track time
or If you can't stand the lateness race your heats and go home, heck were not racin for points or money so do what you gotta do .....just my very little .02 cents
Razoo and anyone else who said it this pole is not a good reflection of anything because of all the people with multiple screen names and people who dont even race Ken's that might have voted .................

Razoo
10-30-2004, 08:14 AM
I talked with Ken last night and the starting time will NOT change, 6:00 it is. I'm sure he will provide more info tonight. He has a nice crowd now and he doesn't want to tamper with success and I don't blame him.

Great night of Racin, My hats off to ken and steve for runnin such a great show last night. One little printer glitch and we were still out of there by 11pm racing 3 heats and a main...keep up the good work guys.....
hey Razooooooo how was the touring car ? You missed a good night bud.....congrats to Tom Hargrove for the new Track record in 4 cell stock 86 laps .
My truck was found to be 1/2 oz light so i got dq'd from round 3,came back in the main ,got a 1 1/2 down do to corner marshall malfunction and still stole the win(note i added an ounce of lead for the main also) LOL in the famous words of Steve M. "it was'nt my prettyist win but it's a WIN "...Again guys great night of Racin and good luck to all on Sunday!

The touring car experiment was a ton of fun. Note to self, don't attach the transponder to the servo case :jest: !!! Couldn't figure out why it was glitching until the next day  . Due to change of plans, I'll be there this afternoon with my pan car and mini.

I dont race no more because its all about $$$$$$$$$$. Its not fun when I have to break the bank on order to be competitive. When the brushless class comes to be and when Lipo`s are introduced to regualr racing. I`ll come back full time.Until then Cameo`s, is all u`ll get.

Plus I dont even own a pan car at this point.

Nice Run BTW Tommy!!!!!

Razoo

Al-

You don't have to break open your piggy bank to be competitive, just get a mini-T :jest: !!!!!!!!!!!!

The descision has been made to stay with the 6pm start time and 3 heats & main. Many people work on Saturday and cut it close to make it for 6pm start. Also, the retail store's advertised hours are until 5pm and has to be attended to until that time. Entry fees do not keep the place open, retail sales do.
We will be moving the program along with as little delay as possible. Starting on time, no grace periods or waiting for those who are not ready, no break between the first & second round & marshalls being in position on time. The 2 heat & 2 main thing tried this past Saturday had a couple of unexpected problems and will not be done again. Saturday night we had 45 entries and were done about 11pm, and could have been done 15-20 minutes earlier without a couple of minor problems. Thanks for everyones cooperation in moving the program along!

Also wanted to address the controversy on Saturday night, regarding a DQ for being under weight. We have and always have had a weight rule(38oz. for 4 cell pan cars). There is no question that those affected know this. Just because we are not able to weigh every car, every time, does not mean that if you get away with running light once that it is okay from there on. The scales are accessable for everyone and the weights for all classes are posted so that you may check you cars for the correct weight at any time, and most racers do so.
