I republished my site the last few months and I hav'nt seen the updated version on the two search engines that I use. Does it take a long time for search engines to list a webpage /site?

I've seen a separate page of my site listed though. Why is that?

Well,some guys told me that when I republished my site, the URL changed and the older page/s of it now on any search engines are dead links.

A guy said seeing assorted pages of a site listed is common but he did'nt know how it happens either but it's no big deal.

I guess if I wait long enough, the new URL site will start getting listed. There's also some kind of position stuff, where on a search engine a listing is but I doubt I can control that.
