About a thousand years ago(actually late '60's) while living in Anniston AL, I remember a Saturday or possibly Sunday morning show I believe was called the Doubledecker Kids. Their clubhouse was a Doubledecker bus and that's about all I can remember about this. One of those repressed memories coming out and it's about to drive me crazy. Anyone have any info on this series?

Sounds like The Doubledeckers to me.

I didn't watch a lot of kid shows back then, but I do remember a British import with that title. I recall the smart kid was named "Brains".

Never heard of it, but here it is:

Get on board! Get on board!
Come and join the Double Deckers.
Take a ticket for a journey,
On our double decker London bus.
Ring the bell (ding! ding!),
Toot the horn (honk! honk!),
When you ride with the Double Deckers.
Fun and laughter is what we're after,
On our double double double decker bus.

You're aboard! You're aboard!
You're aboard with the Double Deckers.
Fun and laughter is what we're after,
On our double double double decker bus.
La la la! La la la!
La la la la la la la la.
La la la la la la la la,
On our double decker London bus.

There are a number of sites, and at least one confirms the name Trek Ace gave - it was sometimes aired with the shorter title.

Anyway, I sympathize. I loved a show on Sunday mornings called "The Kids From C.A.P.E.R" - "Civilian Authority for the Protection of Everybody - Regardless". Nobody ever remembers it. Sort of a Monkees flavor to it.

Yep. I remember it well, Mitch. I sure wish somone would rerun the series or at least release it to dvd. I'd love to get re-acquainted with these kids!

P.S. Did you notice that a few of these kids went on to bigger and better things? Like Peter Firth, for instance...

The following was 'borrowed' from imdb...

Seven kids hang out in a junkyard with an abandoned double decker bus; Brains, the brainy one; Doughnut, the obese one; Spring, the Black one; Scooper, the leader (was he?); Sticks, the drummer; and two girls, Billie and the young girl named Tiger, as she carried around that stuffed tiger toy. There seemed to be more adventures with trying to retrieve the tiger toy than anything else. One episode, Doughnut dreamt he ate an invisible formula. Another involved a chocolate factory and a gun that shot out candy pieces. The gun was set on a radiator and later when fired, it spewed chocolate sauce all over the bad guys. My brother and I still can sing the fat ladies song, but I don't for the life of me recall what that one was about. There was a teacher all the boys fell in love with and saw as his ideal woman; Doughnut saw her as a chef, Brains as a scientist and so on. Billie sees her as a witch. One of the wildest adventures for me was that camping mishap when it started to rain and everyone climbed into the car and knocked the car out of gear. The only one who didn't get wet was Albert, who I take it was the adult who usually accompanied the kids on their adventures. Albert was asleep under the wagon. Very similar to what I have seen of the 'Carry On' movies in the UK, Double Deckers must have been a juvenile version. Nevertheless we never missed it when it aired. We loved this show.

I seem to remember an episode in a toy shop featuring a ton of Major Matt Mason's light up giant Moon man.

Also there was a dreadful 'comedy' called 'Go for a Take' (1972) set in a film studio which has Tiger in realy briefly as a plug for the series.

I could swear I read a kid's book about a smart guy whose clubhouse was a bus in a junkyard... sounds like the inspiration.

MY no-one-else-remembers TV show was "The New Curiosity Shop". The kids went every week to visit an old man who was never there, so they interacted with the stuff in his shop. I remember a drawing board with a drawing of Dennis the Menace on it, that moved and talked briefly in each episode. I remmeber a rude mouse that lived under a sign saying "Do Not Distrub"-- that is the spelling used. I remember they had an episode talking about words that sound like what they mean, but I can't remember the name for such words. I remember an episode about perspective, with a neat little song, "Oh, the big becomes the little when you see it back a bit, that's about the size of it"... with a cool animation of flying through space. And there was a model-animation bit with a buglike alien landing on what he thinks is a devastated planet, with the remains of an extinct civilization lying around in ruins. But he is actually very small and is exploring a restaurant table after the meal is over... One of the kids was named Gerard.

Loved The Doubledeckers!! Nothing seemed cooler at the ripe old age of 7 then hanging out in a doubledecker bus.

At least now when a show is cancelled we find it out rather quickly, back then we would tune back in Saturday morning after Saturday morning wondering where the show was.

Ah yes.....very good memories. I remember The Doubledeckers quite well.

Here's a real obscure one. Anyone remember Runaround hosted by Paul Wichell? It was a quasi-game show on this enormous set. At least it looked enormous to this then preteen. It was nothing short of chaotic with kids running all over the place and Winchell looking like he was one beat shy of a heart attack.

How about The Hudson Brothers Razzle Dazzle Hour? That should have been around the same time as The Doubledeckers...maybe a few years later. That was an all time favorite.

Runaround?
Of course; it was on right after Sealab: 2020...
