PhilipMarlowe 10-15-2004, 12:57 PM I liked his obsessed Elvis-impersonator in "In to the Night".

If so his name is Bruce McGill, he has an impressive body of work... Google.com is your friend if you know how to use it. :)

XactoHazzard 10-15-2004, 01:00 PM Sorry, when I found the photo no one else had posted but by the time I finished my typing and hit post all of you were already there... You guys are fast.

Carson Dyle 10-15-2004, 01:17 PM Yeah, McGill is great. He was last seen in Michael Mann's "Collateral". He also has a couple of memorable scenes as a fiery southern defense attorney in Mann's "The Insider".
Zorro 10-15-2004, 01:26 PM IMDB is your friend also.
BEBruns 10-15-2004, 01:29 PM On IMDB.com, there is a search option where you can enter several movies and it will list everyone who worked in all the movies. It really helps find those character actors who keep popping up in different movies.
lonfan 10-15-2004, 01:51 PM Yep Travis, That's the man! Yeah I use Google ALOT! but for someone like this I wouldn't have known where to begin. Ya' know now that I'm thinkin' of it I THINK Mr. McGill was a regular on a Show with Steven (STTMP Decker) Collins this was a Series that Ripped off "Raider's of The Lost Ark" Tale Of The Gold Monkey (I Think!) Anyhoo One Last Quick Story When I was livin in my hometown of Richmond Va. A movie was being shot Titled "A Woman Named Jackie" it was about Jackie Kennedy.Well I ended up getting a Tiny part in this (They ALWAYS use Richmond for Texas when it's time to Shoot J.F.K. lol) But this Film was about Jackie So playing her was Romma Downey (Before that Crappy "Tortured By An Angel"Show lol) and Playing Kennedy was none other than "Mr. Decker" of STTMP Steve Collins! Well Second day of Shooting the (asst.) Director mentioned that Steve HATED Star Trek Cause he was good Friends with the Actor and Assured me it would NOT be wise to bring it up. Well this didn't stop me lol So at the Craft Services Trailer (Man They serve some GREAT Food! lol) Anyhoo I Really Politly approached Mr. Collins uh Decker lol and I shook his hand I FIRST told him I loved his preformance in "All The President's Men" Decker had a Small role. And after I buttered him up I then Worked up to his Famous Role With the "Bald Broad" lol Well I didn't wanna Scare him by sounding like a Trekkie! lol Well he didn't get Pissed IN FACT he signed the Necktie I was wearing (It's all I had for him to write on) Anyhoo he was SO nice he figured out I was a Trek Fan and Signed the Tie:
JOHN,
Great To Meet You
Decker Unit
Stephen Collins
Pretty Cool huh?
Thought you guys who like Trek would get a Kick oughta that Story.

RAMMING SPEEEEEED!
beeblebrox 10-15-2004, 02:58 PM Mcgill was also in "Out Cold" with Terri Garr and John Lithgow. Fun stuff.
Old_McDonald 10-15-2004, 03:00 PM I see him a lot too. My favorite role that he played was the motorcycle guy in Animal House.
beeblebrox 10-15-2004, 03:01 PM Show us the necktie, carbon-based unit.
gruffydd 10-15-2004, 03:09 PM Lonfan that's a sweet story, I think you're a nice guy and know how to handle yourself.
XactoHazzard 10-15-2004, 03:19 PM Lon you had the search in you original post...
I went to Google and typed in the search:
Matchstick Man+Quantum Leap and I found a name then typed the name in the images feature... thus giving me Bruce's pic.

El Gato 10-15-2004, 03:46 PM McGill was also a rebellious EA captain on "Babylon 5". He appeared in the episode "Point of No Return".

terryr 10-15-2004, 04:03 PM That show was Tales of the Brass Monkey, with Collins Roddy Mcdowell as the bar owner, and Jeff Mackay as Corky the mechanic, and a one eyed dog named Jack, who work out of Boragora.
He was also in a couple of Babylon 5's. He plays believable characters.
AFILMDUDE 10-15-2004, 04:24 PM John,
You should check out McGill in the current movie "Collateral" - very good flick!

OH YES!! Bruce did a FABULOUS job in the final episode of "quantum Leap"..Made a GREAT impression on me and others as well..a VERY wide and Very Gifted character actor..
Richard Compton 10-16-2004, 02:56 AM Collins couldn't hate Star Trek too much because he did the commentary on the SE DVD. I believe he also mentioned playing on the softball team for several years, if I remember correctly.
John P 10-16-2004, 09:09 AM It's "Tales of the Gold Monkey."
And McGill and his crew also stood by Babylon 5 in "Severed Dreams" when the fecal matter hit the rotating ventilation device.
chiangkaishecky 10-16-2004, 09:42 AM It was hyped by Starlog as "Tales of the Brass Monkey" but it never aired under that title.

After all, who'd risk life and fortune to scour the South Pacific searching for a brass Monkey?
Jim NCC1701A 10-18-2004, 05:37 AM Don't know about y'all up there, but down in these here parts the expression "brass monkeys" has sometimes been used to refer to cold temperatures.
Just thought I'd add that little snippet :)
Forgotten about that old show - wasn't that program the reason Mackay's recurring Magnum PI character was killed off, so as he could go do TotGM?
El Gato 10-18-2004, 02:38 PM Yeah I thought Brass Monkey was some kind of Booze? lol
JON/LON
Well, not only is Brass Monkey a funky monkey, it can also make you a monkey junkie...

roadrner 10-19-2004, 08:33 AM With all of the stuff I've seen him in, TV to big screen, this guy must work all of the time. Can't recall a bad role or perfomance and talk about his range. rr
