Thanks. ovalman21 01-09-2005, 03:37 PM The tplate's that comes with the kit. Are they x cut like a ksg or straight like associated. And what thicknes. About to get my kit and was just wondering. B mullins 01-11-2005, 10:33 PM So did all the back orders get filled or are they still filling orders? B Tshirt Man 01-13-2005, 02:18 AM Hey guys a quick question, did anyone have any trouble with the countersunk screws not setting flush with the bottom of the chassis? Thanks Team Paradyme 01-13-2005, 08:16 AM The Blue 8-32 screws in my kit have a 82* head. The gold ones have a 100* head. I dont know what the blue ones are for as there is nothing on the chassis that is c'snked for an 82* 8-32 screw. If you try and use them for the steering blocks they will stick out and could break the chassis at the c'snk. The 4-40 flatheads fit fine. Kenwood 01-13-2005, 02:36 PM Wierd>>> I have the blue ones in my steering blocks per the instructions...they fit flush and were the correct angle.. Maybe something changed on the newer kits>>>Mine was an early kit from the first batch.. Tshirt Man 01-14-2005, 02:22 AM I had to use the yellow ones. I really didn't realize there was a difference until this kit? I went by color only...? I guess you learn something new with every kit. Tshirt Man 01-15-2005, 02:06 AM I ran the car for the first time tonight. It was very fast straight out of the box. I am using the offset t-plate with the centered pod. The car seemed very irratic. It seemed the car was different every lap. Is this because of the t-plate. philb1 01-15-2005, 07:32 AM T-Shirt man, what side springs were you running? Try Steve's setup from page 4 of this thread, it should get you close. I tried the same spring setup as my HD and car was nervous till I lightened up on the sides. My 2nd CW will be here monday,YEAH!!! ptown20 01-15-2005, 08:56 AM I was at CW this week helping pack kits. All parts and kits are available at this time. Paul Team Custom Works Tshirt Man 01-15-2005, 11:36 AM phil - silver springs that came with the kit. I am using Steve's set up. The car was very, very fast, just unpredictable. I am sure that I will work the bugs out eventually. ericsalvas 01-16-2005, 10:25 AM hey ...i just wanted to update the setup we posted earlier... here is what i'm using(and what i'll use to run stock at the snowbirds...) hint...i was having this setup last friday...to OUTRUN my twinbros at our local track(145ft raceline)!!!! Wheelbase: 10" (middle front and short back) Front width: LF 2nd hole from center and the RF 3rd hole from center(middle) Front springs: LF progressive green and RF constant red Front springs droop (race ready): LF approx. 0.010" and RF none Caster: LF +1 and RF =2.5 Camber: LF +1.0 and RF -1.50 A-arms: LF 2nd hole from top and RF 3rd hole from top Rear width: 202mm (with only 0.020" on the RR...running the axle from CW kit) Rear steer: 0.020''(using the method described earlier...on page 17-18) T-plate: Fiberglass offset Pod: Centered Side shocks mount: 2nd hole from top Side shocks oil: 30wt Side shocks springs: associated silver on both sides Center shock oil: #2 piston + 50wt Center shock mount: 3rd hole from top Center shock spring: Silva silver Center shock spring droop: Approx. 0.100" Chassis stagger (RF front chassis height - LF front chassis height): 0.030" Chassis rake (LR of batt tray - LF of batt tray): 0.010" Battery: 3-6 slots from the rear (1 slot empty in the front, 2 in the rear) Hope this helps. Eric. Team CW **for the snowbird race... i might go with less camber gain on RF...by moving the upper a-arm 1 position(to the 2nd from top..)this will give me less roll in front....to compensate the high traction surface after seeing 700 cars run on the carpet!!...preventing traction roll...but this chassis gives you so MUCH left weight...that it shouldn't be a big problem... also...i might run stiffer side springs...since as the week goes...more and more traction will be laid down...so going to stiffer side springs (opaque both side...or even gold RR...WOLFE spings that is..) to limit the weight transfer remember...the more traction the carpet or surface gives you...more left weight you'll need...you could play by moving your electronics...or lead if car is light....for maximum left weight...go with offset pod..** Mr.fastman 01-16-2005, 11:11 AM Eric, thanks for all the info. Phil Marabella were both running the setup you posted on page 4/5 and the car was a little to free from the middle off and wound up going to stiffer side springs, that helped quite a bit. I am still trying to get more forward bite from the middle off, do you have any suggestions? What tire combination are you using? Any tire stagger? Oh yea these cars are awesome yesterday CW cars were 1st and 2nd at Kranzel's unfortunately I was 2nd. Racin Steve 01-16-2005, 12:47 PM Eric, thanks for all the info. Oh yea these cars are awesome yesterday CW cars were 1st and 2nd at Kranzel's unfortunately I was 2nd. Eric and I use silver side springs on low-medium bite tracks. On medium-high bite tracks I had the best success using a Wolfe Opaque on the left side and a Wolfe Gold on the right side. Phil M. told me he ran an AE Gold on the left side and an AE Red on the right side ... that is pretty close to what I've been using on the high bite track. As far as tires (BSR)... are you allowed wintergreen stuff? If so... for high bite surface I go with... LF: Green (Paragon 1-3min.) RF: Gray-Silver (TQ mod 1-3 min.) LR: White (Paragon 1-3 min.) RR: White-Gray (inside half Paragon 1-3 min. and outside half TQ mod 1-3 min.) I leave the traction compound for approx. 15 minutes (soak time) the first time out on the tires and then only 1-3 minutes for the next runs. I don't clean the tires between runs. Steve. I've been running the car with the "offset t-plate/centered pod" combo on high bite flat tracks ... never was it too tight middle-off! Re: Birds ... The last thing I'll do to my car is go back to the centered t-plate, it has been freakin' fast on all flat track conditions I've raced at since October. Steve. Team CW Mr.fastman 01-16-2005, 05:33 PM Thanks Steve, Yea Phil and I both wound up with same spring combo. No paragon at this track only TQ mod. Do you think offset t-plate and pod would give more forward bite coming off the turns. Thanks for the info. Do you think offset t-plate and pod would give more forward bite coming off the turns. Thanks for the info. I doubt offset pod and offset t-plate would solve it. I'd rather go with a softer LR tire. 2 weeks ago I visited a new track in Massena NY where they don't allow Paragon (with wintergreen one). Here's the setup I ran ... LF: Green (TQ Mod 1-3min.) - green progressive spring RF: Gray (TQ mod 1-3 min.) - red constant spring LR: **Yellow (TQ Mod 1-3 min.) - wolfe opaque spring RR: Green (TQ mod 1-3 min.) - wolfe gold spring Center shock: 50wt - #2 piston - Silva silver **BSR yellow ... they've just released this new softer foam ... My car was really good with this tire/spring setup, new track record by a 1.5 lap. Steve. Team CW Mr.fastman 01-16-2005, 08:05 PM Thanks for the help steve. Is the BSR tellow softer than a white? Yes they are slightly ... like 28-30 ... the foam is "dark-gray" ... if you talk to John at BSR he'll tell you the whole story. Steve Team BSR S Brown 01-17-2005, 02:06 PM To clear up some confusion, the new yellow is not the same type as the ones we used years ago. Different type of foam and not super soft like in the past. I tested Steve’s tire set up in stock last week, using the new yellow on the LR works very well on low to medium bite tracks. Sonny B Team BSR smokefan 01-17-2005, 02:44 PM Sonny the L4 I bought used has BSR on it and the backs are what I thought were golds(because of what someonetold me) but now that I look at it they maybe yellows is the yellow yellow and the gold a definate gold color?? Since this is only the 2nd car I've ever built thats quite a feat :) !. Everything went together smoothly and the directions and pictures were outstanding. I even went so far to use the offset t-plate and centered pod. Just one question though, does anyone put washers under the lower suspension arms to lower the car? Al Spina Fan 01-19-2005, 07:16 PM Yes, try using the .062 aluminum ones (associated I think).
