I'll just wait.

I really like this car and it is one of the best handiling cars I have ever driven. This backorder thing is starting all over again with CW. This new chassis isn't the only thing. We have had .063 offset t=plates backordered for over 8 weeeks now. I just hope that this is only temporary. I don't think CW knew how big this new pan car would be for oval racers. It sounds like they are overwhelmed.

I had just setup my car with that t=plate and I don't like to wait until it breaks or wears out before I get another one for backup. Things really improved over the old CW for awhile then we can't get replacement parts again. I guess that I am frustrated over the whole thing.

Kipp's doesn't show the car on the website. Besides my local hobby shop ordered the new kit converison about 5 weeks ago.
CALL KIPP >> you cant go by websites...ANY OF THEM.. I got my slider conversion last week from kipp...He had 5 of them on the shelf at that time... just e-mail him...heck I think he even posted that he had 5 of them in this thread about a page or 2 back..

KenBadjek: .063" bars started shipping again for the first time in around 3 weeks. Very busy time of year with XMAS coming (lead times are extended for everyone) and we have our annual Open Wheel race next weekend (est entires this year 350) to boot! The response for the new slider chassis has been overwhelmingly great and the last we had went out this week, should have more by the end of the month though.

I can say without a doubt the maverick slider is a killer car.. the custom works slider is very new yet.. i dont think anyone could make a proper comparison due to it being so new.. give the cw some time to get into people hands, and get some track time.. there solid chassis is definatey stout on the rug.. im sure the slider will be as good.

The Left front is slotted to allow you to lead or trail the left front. This can change how aggressive the car turns in and exits the corner. Some of the CW guys are running the left front forward on flat carpet.

I've never owned the Maverick so I can't say anything about that, but the CW car is growing by leaps and bounds, its an excellent car. Just look at the finishing order from Ovalmasters.
I'll be running my slider for the first time tomorrow night, didn't get it built in time for Ovalmasters, really looking forward to running the new chassis.

Was there any Mavericks there?

I think Greg Hartman ran a Maverick from what I heard. He qualified 7th and finished 2nd in 6 cell Mod at the Masters race.

I know in the other classes there were no Mavericks in the show.

im pretty sure there was only one maybe two there at the masters.... You could also go by the norrca nats.. only two maverick in the place.. mavericks qualify one ,two, and finish one two.. i dont think a cw even made the show.. big race result dont show all hat much because it only shows the guys who can committ to the trip... opinions, and lots of input is what every one needs.. thats why i love this manufact forum..

Regarding the Manuf cup/Ovalmasters race: I was really surprised that Maverick, Leading Edge, Raptor, Darkside, KGB (are they still around?) etc never sent their top guys to come and run. If you want your product to be seen and heard why not show up ?

Not trying to bash or cut down in anyway, but it just seemed like the Manuf race all there was were CW, KSG, HD, Silva and RIP cars. If you had more manuf in the mix it would make it more interesting. For its first year maybe guys were hesitant on committing to the trip, but now it showed it could pull 95+ guys, Maybe next year and future years after that this race will be pretty big. I hope so, Sandhills is a track that deserves a big turnout.

I myself run a CW car and I'm extremely happy with it, when you make a change chassis wise you can feel it on the track, very reponsive in that sense. I also have a buddy who has a maverick and he feels the same way about it. I see Jake (owner of maverick) at the birds every year, he's cool and very helpful regardless if you run his car or not... and all the guys in the CW pits are helpful too ...... I saw the aggressor at the birds before they went into production and decided I had to have one right then ........ LOL. either way you cant go wrong IMHO.

Got my CW slider two weeks ago. Ran it for the first time this Saturday. Best car I ever drove. Very pushy when I first put it on the track but dialed that out easily. Running 19T the car was losing almost no corner speed. On the front end I used the IRS caster blocks instead of the CW. I also run an HPI center shock. Very impressed with the car.

What is the length of the side shocks on the aggressor. I'm having to space the ball cups out about 1/16" on each side( total 1/8") to get them to work. If the ball cups are up against the shock body and shaft end they can't work because they are at maximum extension.
My setup uses the second hole down on the shock tower and the kit 1/2" ball ends. Offset T-plate, centered pod with the shock plate mounted using the left most holes. The t-plate moves freely without the shocks and the shocks work when not installed on the car. Distance between ball ends on each side is 2 13/16"

davepull

sounds about right. the crc side shocks are longer and they are a perfect fit. with the kit ball cups they screw all they way on.

erock1331
12-04-2005, 12:29 PM
With the CRC's I use .020 behind each ball cup on the Right side shock and none on the Left side shock. Seems to be working good for me. this way if you run some tweak the shocks are even'd up.

Question for flat track setup...

160ft run line... flat smooth ozit carpet...I put my slider kit together yesterday at the track>>>Probably part of my mistake.. I was just curious how most are setting the car up..

I put a few pack through it and the car seemed a little darty in the straights ...

setup was
On center t-plate offset pod, 60wt center with assc silver spring
35 wt sides second hole from bottom with asc gold LR asc blue rr
.063 bias cut t-plate with center screw removed
Long wheelbase with .030 lead in LF
battery tray second battery slot Middle even with front t-plate screw..
the car cornered nicely but just seemed a little twitchy in the straighhts..

front end was 2nd from bottom hole both sides. Camber 2 and 2 castor 3 and 1.. KSG toe corrector.. green std rf just off the block and red std left front with .020 droop.. tires were orginally 3 pinks and a purple...ended up on 2 dbl pink rears and pink/double purple fronts..

The car was about roughly .10 off per lap..COmpared to where my solid was****My solid was set offset t-plate on center pod.. However my solid car did not corner near as nicely...thats why Im torn between setups...

Mainly what Im wondering is are most of you guys still running offset t-plate on center pod?? or am I just overlooking some minor stuff... So far im pleasded with the car... However I have a big race next week and Im trying to get it as close as possible for that..

probably related to the fact that you built the car at the track. go through the car this week and try again.

I was just wondering if there will be a different tray so that you can put the first cell all the way forward? We found on our track that the pack all the way forward and the esc in the back works great. I copied my setup from my solid car to my slider and will play around with moving the battery back and the LF around to see what it does.

I cut out the reciever pack area and made it large enough for a sub c size cell.

I also noticed less material cut out around the diagonal slots to minimize the twisting of the chassis.

Hey just wondering if there is any Custom Works decals available? It would be nice to advertise what car just passed you.
