Has anyone run their Slider yet (other than Steve, Arnie and Phil)? What did you find compared to the solid car?

Well, I guess you don't want to know ;) (I understand your point) but here it is anyway ... I ran the production slider for the first time yesterday and broke my track record (www.grcsr.com (http://www.grcsr.com)).

With 1/16" lead in LF the car felt superb middle-out, more forward bite than with my solid chassis car.

Great site!! Only problem is I don't read french and couldn't find a translation link. Congrats, hopefully Custom Works will now release the car to the awaiting masses of hopefull owners. How about a short flat track carpet set-up for the slider?

Does anyone seem to be short on pieces with there slider kits. I seem to be missing the screws and nuts for the bettery tray and the brackets to the chassis. Also can any tell me if the shock tower bracket (CW#8019) is supposed to come with the sliker kit?

My short flat track setup has been on the CW website since April. I still ran that exact same setup yesterday but for these settings (sslider).

1 hole lead LF and slider tray .525" forward from rear position.

You are not alone. The first of the kits were missing 5 screws and nuts. The brace does not come with the kit. Check your battery tray to make sure the mounting holes are countersunk. Call CW, let them know what is missing and Arnie or rob will take care of it.

Thanks for the quick reply. The holes in the tray aren't counter sunk either. Any other things that I need to look for?

vsp,

That should be it. When I got mine and noticed the countersunk holes, i called Arnie on his cell phone and he filled me in. It was just an oversite and they corrected the kits as soon as they noticed. The kit went together great and the parts fit perfectly!

Call Rob or Arnie Monday and they will take care of you. They are very accommodating!!!

Frank is quite the wheel, I saw him race a midget in WI this summer not only had he never seen the track it was one of the first races with the team. He didnt get a lot of hot laps so he ran the "B", transfered to the "A" and finished in the top ten at a place that is very unfriendly to newbies.

Also does anyone know who stocks the truespeed 19t motors

Looking for pics of new slider chassis. I am wondering when it will become available to the general public? My local hobbyshop placed the order 4 weeks ago and I see other people have their new chassis already.

It is available to the general public. I'm not sure if Arnie and the guys ran out of kits ... he'll be here shortly confirming the inventory status.

Frank is OK from the wreck. He was working his way thru traffic running 6th and the car running 5th blew the motor at the end of the straight away causing the carnage. It also was the first time the 40 saw any track time this year after having the front clip replaced from a wreck last year.

Hey Scott we got that car back out for the later 50 lapper, Frank was running 9th after passing 7 cars before a 2 car wreck between the 3rd and 4th place cars with a car bouncing off the wall took the right front off.Frank is OK from the wreck. Try the suggestions already mentioned, or if like the center a little softer leave the center screw out. Please post how it goes together for you, if you need more help email me.

Building mine right now... No probs with my conversion... Question though... Is it really necessary to use the locator plate on the left side???? Ive not messed with it much But Say I want to run .030 worth of lead-in on the car..how do I do that and still use the locator plate??? Just curious what you guys are doing>>> I know I could run without the plate>>I mean my KSG has no loactors on it and it stays fine.. I just was curios about the Incriments of adjustment with lead in when using the Plates..

Mr.fastman
11-28-2005, 07:08 PM
Kenwood - I guess you run without it, but it provides consistent adjustments since the lower arm can't move and you'll know exactly how far you moved it with the locator (great for fine tuning and repeatable setups).

Kenwood,

I believe each increment is .062". As Doug said, using the plates keeps the adjustment consistent. I suppose you could add a few holes for .030" adjustment if you feel the need.

Kenwood

The way I set mine up I get repeatibility anyway going over the car with calipers.. I mean 99 times out of 100 after its been tightened in 1 spot for a while the graphite sort of dimples there and repeatibility is a non issue.. .062 is more than I typically like to run..but maybe thats why i seem to be coming in second place every week lately...LOL

will there be a solid chassis version with the newer front end setup on it ?

Kenwood
11-29-2005, 07:47 PM
WAIT!!! more questions... At first I figured I would try the .062 leading left>>>HOWEVER I run the Long wheelbase..It appears>>>At least with my kit..maybe mine is messed up>> it appears that when using the long front wheelbase setup that the topmost locator hole on the left side only allows you to run EVEN with the right front.. While my graphite is slotted so that I can slide the arm up further it does not line up with ANY locator plate holes.. Is everyones like this or just mine?? Its not that its a big deal...I can go back to my original plan of no locator plate on the LF ...but just curious..

Hmmm, good question.... I don't know anyone running the long wheelbase.

davepull
11-29-2005, 10:24 PM
hey Kenwood thanks for the input. try this switch the locater plates. I built my solid cars like it says in the book I have a couple of friends that put the maverick servo plate on there car and they had to switch the plates around and I think it changes just a bit. I have a question why the long wheelbase?

Arnie Fie
11-30-2005, 07:40 AM
Kenwood: You are right, the top hole in the locator plate does locate the front end directly across from the RF for long wheelbase. The bottom hole does the same for the short wheelbase. The locator plate does center/lead/trail the LF versus the RF when using the medium wheelbase (10 inch) since that is the most common set-up and the hole pattern would not repeat for the other wheelbase lengths. What I figured in time is people might drill their own hole thru the locator plate and chassis to mark the spot they like best for one particular track.

As for the long wheelbase topic, I ran my slider car that way at Sandhills two weeks ago. Fast banked carpet you need stability anywhere you can get it and it helps that.

Kenwood
11-30-2005, 07:47 AM
Thats exactly what I did...there was plenty of room for more holes... I actually like the long wheelbase even on the flat tracks myself..Why I dont know exactly... I used to run the short wheelbase...but I was talked out of it by a few of the local pros... they convinced me to try it...and Ive not gone back to short since.. I cant say exactly how its better>>But the car LOOKS, and works a lot better in the corners on flat tracks..

Im running a maverick servo plate too...However what I did was install it backwards from how maverick does.. so the side to side sliders are farthest forward.. this allows it to clear the locator plates without a problem.. :)

Does anyone at CW know how long before the slider conversion will be shipped? Custom Works isn't answering or emailing about the release date. People are saying they got their car but my hobby shop can't get an answer either. If it is quicker to get the whole thing I will do that and have spare parts then.
