Arnie,

I knew what he meant from the beginning as well, yet somehow making that 'joke' in public and in your thread, seemed to display poor judgment. As you have said, it's hard to ascertain someone's tone by simply reading a post. In order to avoid potential misunderstandings, perhaps it's better not to make the questionable statement to begin with.

Now, back to what this thead is for; exchanging information on your new car. (Congrats & good luck with it btw!!!)

Bret,

Customworks has some pics on their site, http://www.customworksrc.com/aggressor.html, one of which is the bottom of the car. Hope that helps ya.

I was looking at Steve's car and noticed that the shock mount for the top plate is adjustable and was wondering if you move the shocks to the left does the outboard shock mounts move also? Or do you have to re-adjust the length of the shocks with longer ball cups?

Great looking car

It all moves to the left (offset) so you don't have to readjust anything ...

Center shock mount
Top pod plate shock mount
"Outboard shock mounts"

Presuming you have both t-plates ready to go (pivot balls installed) ... I'd say it takes less than 5 minutes to go from centered to offset t-plate.

PS. You'll notice that I'm using a RF steering arm on the LF (upside down) ... I've been doing this for years. It corrects any possible bump steer in the front suspension.

Here's a "Corel Draw" file I just redid. Any vinyl cutter will work with this, just bring this file to your "sticker" guy and you should be allset.

Hey Steve, I didn't know you did Graphics! I work in Corporate Architecture at Bass Pro Shops & do most of our departments graphic design. I use Corel Draw in conjuction with a few other software programs. Thanks for the file, it will be alot better than the raster format I downloaded from the site.

Thanx for the pix...they look awesome. BTW....what thickness is the spacer you have underneat the front arms? Those front springs looks like "progressive". Do they work better than standard springs? Everything on those pictures are "out-of-the-box" components, no after-markets or whatever, right? Cool.....thanx

Hey Steve just a question about why you put the washers underneath the frontend locator instead above it?

Thanks
B

Arnie Fie
10-15-2004, 06:23 PM
B Mullins: The two posts on the lower arm of the Associated front-end houses into the front-end locator plates and those posts on the lower arms sit flush on the chassis. Basicaly the locator plate hugs the arms and keeps it all square. There is a .100" space between the front end loactor and chassis to add spacers which is well enough space for foam tire racing. As for caps, turn the plate over and use the slugs we provided and you can go from .100" spacer underneath to whatever height you want. Hope this answers your question.

Talked with Arnie this morning regarding my local hobby shop's order. Arnie said it would ship tomorrow (tuesday) as some parts were late arriving (caster pins). The long wait is almost over guys, I know it's tough (wait)!

BTW, I set a new track record with my car yesterday at St-Rock (grcsr's season opener). I actually lapped the field in the main. Please don't beleive it's crap and that I'm doing BS promotional talk ... there were 63 entries in 4-cell stock with many big guns on hand (Pace Gendron, Tom Hargrave, etc.). There was absolutely no accident in the main so it wasn't a crash filled race where I end up lapping the field.

My car was setup with the box stock fiberglass offset t-plate and on-center pod ... it was ... mmmh ... let's say ... one guy asked me after the mains if there was something I could've still improved in my car ... I could'nt find anything, it was PERFECT.

Yep it's no joke. I truly thought the car was all hype until I saw it. Having the option to mount the T plate offset is awsome.
That thing just didn't scrub corner speed, amazing. It helps to have good batteries and motors and have the ability to get a wheel barrel to handle, but the car still is a really well thought out, very adjustable car.

The nerf wing is a could come in handy sometime too:lol: man that looks sharp.

I can also attest to how "hooked" Steve's car was. Man that thing was smooth, it seemed to pick up speed though the corners... not too many did that all day. Great run Steve, glad to see you have so much success right from the get-go with your new ride!!!

Steve, being only an average chassis man, I am wondering why you flip a right arm over and put it on the left.

Arnie Fie
10-19-2004, 01:51 PM
Echeconneennenenenennneee: Running the left side suspension arm high on the suspension mount (no camber gain on the LF tire) creates bump-steer since the steering arm and suspension arm are not on the same angles nor even close in length. This kind of set-up is usually desired most on flat tracks. Basically running a Right Steering Arm upside down on the left side fixes that problem. Just have to make sure when you do that your Ride Heights are where you want them since one side of the steering arm is longer. You can sand the long side down and it works flawlessly as if it was the actual Left side steering arm, only without the bumpsteer.

Arnie Fie

Thanks Arnie! I will have to try that.

Racin Steve
10-19-2004, 08:59 PM
Thanks Arnie! I will have to try that.
With 0.060" under the RF steering arm and 0" under the LF steering arm you get proper chassis stagger when using this setup.

Instead of running a RF steering arm upside down on the LF, you can simply run a higher ball stud on the RF, that will also take care of any possible bump steer in the front suspension (when running the LF top a-arm in high position for no camber gain).

Hello Steve, I am going to be getting one of these cars, I know you have not had yours very long yet but I have a couple of set up questions. Did you build the car short or long, and did you use the option of offsetting the t-plate but not the pod. Other than that is the setup similar to your hyperdrives, at least at your home track? Tires and springs ect. Thanks for any advice, see you at the races!!

Yes, the t-plate is black fiberglass. you get both the offset and standard black fiberglass t-plates in the kit.

Hi U2, I'm actually running the car with offset t-plate and centered pod ... and really like it!!! Under acceleration it tracks like no other car I ran before ... and very aggressive steering going in too.

The wheelbase I run is 10" and my tire setup is unchanged. Running the offset t-plate makes the RR spring act stiffer since the LR wheel lever is substantially shorter ... so I'm now running 1 grade softer on the RR spring. I didn't change the LR spring 'cause even if the RR wheel lever is longer the side shocks sit slighter further up to the pivot balls (versus the HD) so the shocks travel more making the oil and spring action heavier.

I saw one this past weekend at Kranzels and the kit lacks for nothing. You'll be glad you waited. Coarse its not as fast as the new Rip Motorsports 2004 "RIP Slider" kit. lol. What,,, you say you haven't heard about the new Rip Slider? Its a car that has been only been a proto type car to this point but will soon be released,,, maybe by Holloweenie.

Seriously though hats off to Arnie Fie for a truely awesome car that he designed and made reality. Us ORL racers are proud of you Arnie. I'll think of you everytime one passes me on the track.
