BEACH 07-05-2005, 09:56 PM I need help with setup for willowmill ORL race. Any suggestions would be great. Thanks.
Joe D
Joe, you can copy the setup from the CW Site that Arnie posted from the Seaford club race, that will get you super close, and I will try to get mine up before the weekend.
I did go 41, the first ever there, and its real close to what Arnie ran.
Oh, are you coming up this weekend? July 10th? Let me know.

BEACH 07-05-2005, 09:58 PM Keep trying Paul, I talked to someone today that said Todd had them.

Arnie Fie 07-06-2005, 09:04 AM Beach: I don't think I ever went 41 laps in 4 cell. What was the old 6 cell stock record anyhow? A slow 44 laps I think? Good run!
losi888 07-06-2005, 10:00 AM I am going to try and make it this weekend. I dont think I will be able to make it for the ORL my brother has to work.

Yo Arnie... where were ya at this weekends race?? HUH!?!
Anyway, good run Beach. I'm not sure where Shane came up with speed. He worked his tail off to compete with ya. And that wreck in the main with Ozzy, oh man, that was some super close racing between you 2. Too bad I didn't make the show, I really wanted to run with you guys. I just have no luck at that track.
And Beach, not to burst your bubble, but Peachcock did 41 last year, so you aren't the "official" first 41 lap run. :p
Lata,
Jason
BEACH 07-06-2005, 05:25 PM Jason, I said the same thing to George, he said that Frank went 40 flat? THATS what Geo said??? I thought that Frank went 41 as well? Anyway, it was a good run none the less! LOL
Talk to you soon, Jim
Wow,best short track in the south [C&W speedway]only 1 hr from the shop and can't get anybody with 1 of these things up here! Arnie was at the NORRCA race last yr., haven't seen you since, come on up the 23rd and bring some door prizes with you!!!!
Arnie Fie 07-12-2005, 09:52 AM DK47: Its only 1 hour with Helms driving...2 for anyone else.
Give me a call at the shop with more info 704 489 8147
lloydd2 07-18-2005, 02:56 PM I run on the same track that Burbs runs on and I think that I finally got the car figured out. Unfortunately, while I qualified 3rd in the A main, I screwed up the start and went a lap down early.....but with 34 laps each of the three rounds (1st rd 4.06, 2nd rd 4.05 and 3rd rd 4.03) proves that the car is more than competitive and I am sure that it will win an A main soon. Thanks, Custom Works.

KenBajdek 07-28-2005, 10:20 PM Does anybody know where the shock tower cross brace goes. My local hobby shop ordered common replacement parts and the CW sales guy added this part #8019. It isn't shown in the manual. Unless it is an updated part???
Metal 07-28-2005, 11:25 PM If I were to guess it bolts to the back of the actual shock tower itself. Because of the length of the tower itself it is prone to flexing. Try seeing if it lines up with the holes that you also use to bolt the shock tower to the aluminum uprights (8022). Step five in the manual.
B Deel
KenBajdek 07-29-2005, 10:23 AM It has the same shape as the side shock cross brace but the holes don't line up with shock tower.
KenBajdek 07-29-2005, 12:35 PM Upon further review the 8019 part fits the hole in the bottom of the "u" shaped brace for the side shocks #8012 but the upper part of the 8019 brace is not as wide as the cross brace where the ball end screws into for the ball cup for the side shock. If you were to drill the holes to line up with the 8012 crossbrace then the top hole is almost too close to the edge. The 8019 doesn't have any holes drilled on the upper part where you would need 4 holes for the ball ends. Was this #8019 intended as a quick fix for the crossbrace flex until thicker crossbraces were cut?
Jason Lambert 07-29-2005, 01:04 PM If this is an updated piece... I probably need to get one of those. I noticed my car starting to feel "odd", so I started changing every part on it I had a replacment for, when I changed the shock tower, bang, the car was totally differnet.. I was thinking I might wanna just run the shock tower doubel think, and get some ball ends with longer threads to go thru a double thick piece of graphite.
Arnie, anyone, wanna chime in and give us the scoop, dod somethign change/get upgraded?
KenBajdek 07-29-2005, 03:03 PM Jason, I don't use the ball cup/ball end for the side shocks on the outside edge. I use Dubro ball links (small 4-40 #2161). I run a 1/2 4-40 screw through the cross brace and put a small 4-40 locknut against it. The spacing is just right plus it is easy to change springs or the angle that way. The springs just fit over the ball links. Ball cups just wear out too fast and get sloppy. I use the ball links on the front end too.
philb1 07-30-2005, 07:20 AM The brace bolts on down, towards the chassis. I am using the original brace but have seen some doubled up mounts being used.
BEACH 07-30-2005, 09:19 AM One thing I used was a piece of graphite from a t-plate brace (the one that goes front to back on the pivot balls). I cut it off in length to the chassis, and then shoegoed it in place. WORKS AWESOME!!

KenBajdek 08-01-2005, 10:58 PM Does anybody read this post?
jbm38 08-02-2005, 07:43 AM I find it odd as well that there isn't more activity from the CW drivers on here....
BEACH 08-02-2005, 08:53 AM I think most of the guys are getting ready for a dirt race. Later, Jim
jbm38 08-03-2005, 10:26 AM DIRT!?!?! Where in PA do they run the late model bodied cars??? That would get me interested in DIRT again...
Arnie Fie 08-03-2005, 11:55 AM Sorry for the delay, been trying to catch up here from running a gas sprint race in Illinois.
The #8019 Brace bolts directly to the backside of the newer #8012 Shock Towers. We changed the cut of the shock tower to be a bit more durable and added the holes so the brace can be bolted on the back side of the tower. The evolution of this brace pretty much comes from high bite carpet racing where when he car has stiffer side springs (Assoc. Copper and stiffer) it caused the Shock Tower to flex.
JBM: PA is mainly sprints and EDM's but alot of guys are building late models everywhere else. Gas and rubber tires (not pin spikes) is where it is at!
For those who are interested we have TrueSpeed modifieds and batteries (yes batteries now) in stock!
blueracer55 08-03-2005, 01:10 PM Hey Arnie. I got my kit, and it's almost done. I had a caster hinge pin that was bent when i got the kit in. Should I just e-mail custom works? Thanks.... Paul
erock1331 08-03-2005, 02:00 PM Arnie, I sent you a private message
thanks

dave w 1 08-03-2005, 02:01 PM Hey Arnie. I got my kit, and it's almost done. I had a caster hinge pin that was bent when i got the kit in. Should I just e-mail custom works? Thanks.... Paul
THERES NO EXTRA CHARGE FOR THAT LOL!
Arnie Fie 08-03-2005, 05:38 PM BlueRacer55: Call 704 489 8147 and give us your address and it will be taken care of.
Erock: E-mailed you back!
KenBajdek 08-03-2005, 07:32 PM Arnie,
Thanks. If the vertical holes would have been predrilled it would have been real easy to see where it fit. Only the bottom 4 holes on the horizontal part were drilled. Are those holes for the ball end supposed to predrilled?
davepull 08-03-2005, 09:18 PM turn it the other way. you bolt it to the cross brace with it pointing down not up.
blueracer55 08-03-2005, 09:39 PM Thanks Arnie.
Arnie Fie 08-04-2005, 09:06 AM Ken: Davepull is right, down to the chassis to keep any flex on the shock tower out of the car. I can see how it could easily be confused now!
MikeM 08-04-2005, 10:43 AM Are the new shock towers in the kits now, and if so for how long?
Jason Lambert 08-04-2005, 12:32 PM have to get me one to toss on my cars.. see if that fixes a problem I encountered.
Arnie, p.m. me the part # and whatever I have to do to get you to send me 2 of those.
Arnie Fie 08-04-2005, 04:30 PM MikeM: The newer style tower is the standard piece from here on out.
davepull 08-04-2005, 05:31 PM Lamballs call me
KenBajdek 08-04-2005, 06:36 PM I already drilled the holes and have it pointed upwards. Besides where would the battery fit then on the left side?
MikeM 08-04-2005, 07:24 PM MikeM: The newer style tower is the standard piece from here on out.
I just received my kit about a week ago, so this might already have it then?
Jason Lambert 08-04-2005, 09:18 PM Dave.. don't have your # anymore. p.m. me here your phone #, and I'll call ya next week sometime
davepull 08-04-2005, 09:22 PM 904 716 5350 now focker
Arnie Fie 08-05-2005, 11:23 AM KenBajdek: It does take away the option of running the battery to the extreme rear of the chassis.
MikeM: Can't imagine it would have the older style shock tower.

KenBajdek 08-06-2005, 04:36 AM When did the newer style shock tower become available? I just bought the car at the end of June this year. How would I know the difference if mine is the old or new?
davepull 08-06-2005, 05:51 AM the old shock tower is thinner and doesn't have the holes for that piece.
rcavenger 08-06-2005, 07:00 PM Arnie,
Do you know where I can buy a new agressor chassis? the one I have has a slight bend in it. I have been trying to find it online, w/ no luck. Really would like to have it by next weekend..
