Wow! If I remember correctly, this is very good news for the Oval guys. Wasn't there a lot better turn out when the schedule was this way before? Hope turn out comes back up there, it was a little low last time I was up.

Brian, I tried to email you back the other night and it came back to me. Try again and we'll see if it goes through.

I have heard rumors of salvation for a long time. Check with Phil, Im pretty sure he would know what is going on there if anything is to materialize. I cant see both of them making it but that is not for me to decide. I guess we will go to the track that wants us there. HT has a ways to go. I know of several who dont want anythig to do with the place after last year. Ill give them another shot I guess and see what happens.

Also, its not up to me either since I cant seem to stay in this country for more than 4 weeks at a time. See ya all next spring trying to study for promotions instead of racing.

I plan to race the Hobbyplex cup cars and maybe Pro Stock but we will have to see how things pan out (no pun intended) and who runs what. Just so up at the test and tune day this Saturday (25th) and see who turns out.

I saw a couple on here for pretty cheap. I also saw that alot of guys that were running touring oval that they were not changing their setups to run oval, they just set them up "flat" and ran they with their on road setup still in the car. You could always try that.

I had a good time. I would sure like to see more guys coming out and give it a chance this year. There has certaily been some hot things done and said but it is a great track. The only thing I would like to see done is that there be some rules enforced this year. I hate tracks that let things be a free for all. If we are going to run under a rule body then stick to it and TECH Those cars. There was mention of wanting the regionals for oval. That means we need to race under the roar rules every week. Doesnt matter if it is motor rules or the length of the race. Racing with no motor rules and 5 minutes instead of 4 isnt really doing us any good in my view. Let race by the rules so that when or if there is a bigger race 90% the field isnt out to lunch on gearing or motor set up. Just a thought HT for you to think over, not a kick in the chops by any means.

Shoot me an email Omaha and Ill be happy to help you with a car. The set up in Cowboy's car was one of mine that I run everywhere and he really liked the car. It is a comfortable set up that goes fast too. The one I ran today was cornering beast. It is a prototype and it cornered with just about no steering. All I had to do is get it started in the corner and the car did the rest. It was very interesting to drive (right Chad O). Kinda tough to get a real good feel with the carpet being kinda dry from the summer but it was fun anyway.

MURDOCKRC
09-25-2004, 11:41 PM
I had heard the tea SD had a track going up but havent heard any details really. I really feel stongly that if a roar event is even in the thoughts of ht that we absolutely have to race weekly by the rules. That should be a non issue. I guess it is like this. What good is racing 5 min, then having a sanctioned event that has to be run at 4 min (19turn for example should be 4 min, not 5). Why let the p-94 brushes be run when they are illegal in roar competition. OK, maybe even if they dont tech the cars weekly, those of us who run legal and under the rules will have a clear advantage come a sanctioned event the way I see it. Im sure that this will be an issue with the roar directors. Now I know that for the majority these things are pretty trivial to most but when you go to regional or national events you want to be prepared to conform to the written rules and racing with no rules isnt teaching us anything or preparing you to know what the rules are. I really think after the rocky start that ht had last year that rules and fun atmosphere should be a major priority if it is to survive.

Stagger2
09-26-2004, 12:06 AM
Yea Rob. That is a bit loose for me but I will work to get my car a little more freed up and see how my lap times improve. Looks like I will have to learn how to drive all over again.(Not that I could in the first place).

You will get it Chad. I just handed that car over so you would know what a fast cornering car felt like. That car was on the edge of out of control and that usually meens that they are fast. We have a long way to go though. Even with the track being green, and longer the laps we ran were way short of last year so far. It will get better with laps though.

I know. By the way you right about that t-plate it WAS on upside down. I changed it and everything lines up perfect now. I'm in the process of doing a new BENCH setup, red right spring, gold left and center shock that I got from you, just trying to get the travel where they need to be. That was the fastest I've been there though. I will email you about tires later on, need to see if we have the money, wife has to go back out of town for work all this week.

I noticed that for the Champ race that it says ROAR rules apply. How many of the rules will we be using? No Binaries in the stock class. Will we also be running 4 min races then? And should we be running these every week? Rob M had posted to this effect in the other Hobbyplex thread, but these are questions that we need answers to.

If Im not mistaken. In order to become a sanctioned track you have to follow that bodies rules. HP is in my book as a sanctioned track. My question is this. Why become sanctioned and not follow the guidelines. If you cant race under those rules all the time then why should a sanctioned event be granted to any track. Like I mentioned to some others a couple of weekds ago. What good is running illegal stuff and race times on a weekly basis when a sanctioned event (if they get one) has to be run by the rules, no questions asked. I guess I would like to hear what everyone else thinks on this one. Im there to have fun when I make it down but I would rather be tuning my cars and motors to the rules and be racing against legal stuff. should I or anyone else attend a sanctioned event there or somewhere else. What is so hard about following the rules? Now I do want to make it very clear that this is not a stir for the pot. Just wanting everyones take on it.

Rob --

We've got the same problem at our track -- but they don't tech anything, so what incentive is there for anybody to pay attention to rules ?? Even at bigger races there (non-ROAR) it's pretty lax on enforcing any rules -- not even basic stuff like roof height and min. weight. It seems tracks in general have gotten away from this stuff. I remember in the early 1990's, even at weekly races our cars were checked for weight EVERY HEAT ! And back then we had 50+ guys at every weekly race ... ahhhh those were the days .
