Glad you got the info on the trophy race at the Hobby Plex on April 18th. Hope some of you guys can make it. Dispite all the issues around scheduling it is a very nice track.

This is usually the result of a Hobbyshop operated track. You are the loyal racers (and customers) but they want to tell you when to race. The shop owner has stuck out allot of bucks to run an indoor track. But can't seem to grasp the fact that if you guys aren't showing up, there is allot of empty (pit) space he's paying for to sit unused and changes need to be made to bring in the money. It is common business sense. There are many successful racetracks in the middle of nowhere that ALL of you are willing to road trip to. It's really too bad that you have such a nice facility, literally, in your backyard that won't cooperate to make everyone happy. I don't think you're asking too much. And you all seem to be wanting the same thing.

I am an offroad guy but I have played with foam tires before. I raced in Omaha back in 1988 when Hobbytown had a little track in Rockbrook and George and Bobber ran the other track down on 13th street of I-80. Two tracks in one day. That was great.

No doubt about Rockbrook and R/C Speedway. they were filled to capacity every day and every night we raced. The big difference with them is that they wanted us there. They did what the drivers wanted (within reason ofcourse), and they worked together with the scedules and not against each other. Both were very successfull and a ton of fun. Hobbyplex doesnt seem to want us there. They have had a 70% reduction in car count since the scedule change. THAT DONT PAY THE BILLS. Nor is it fun for anyone right now. Everyone has been snubbed in the deal, but oval is being hurt the most. But they dont care. The "big" race next month has a touring car on the oval flyer, Road on Saturday the doors open at 8:30, Oval on Sunday they dont open until 10:00. IT TAKES 40 MIN'S TO CHARGE A BATTERY. Hardly enough time to get cars ready like they need to be with a noon start time. The new track pictures on the hobbyplex website are of the road course only as well. You be the judge. The have been several cases of guys going to practice and the oval is not set up, nor can anyone there change it. They wont open the lower doors so that guys can carry a few hundred pounds of equipment in on a couple of cases. The reason I think so many of us are mad is because there was such high hopes and "big" plans from management. Well, we have all been let down in a big way. The IROAR club in Vinton Iowa put on a two day oval only show last week that brought in 102 entries and some of the best drivers around. Hobbyplex should have 100 car counts every week if they would listen to what needs to be done. I DONT HAVE A FAILURE BONE IN MY BODY, AND THIS IS NUTS IN MY BOOK.

IROAR, you did an awesome job last week. You did everything right and put on one heck of a show.

Well i can remember about 1996 we were racing Lincoln(HOBBYTOWN) and were getting 80 to 120 (Oval) cars a night! They had a good Promoter(JR)and he was good with the racers! They got some bad promoters and the track went down hill!Seems like another bad Hobbytown managemant deal that don't care about the racers and is intent on flexing it's muscles and showing everyone who makes the calls! That is why club organizations seem to work because you have a voice and a vote!Well I have no plan on running Omaha until i hear things have changed!I don't need to travel 2 1/2 hours one way to be treated like garbage! This is really sad!I know you can't make everyone happy all the time,it appears they don't want to even try!Ohwell

If Hobbyplex raceway fails, It will be thier own doing. There are allot of racers willing to drive hours to a well run raceway. Ther might be flaws in the carpet but everyone is treated fair and evenly. The clubs and indviduals that run THESE tracks are racers. Not business owners with huge overheads and other thing on thier minds. They get a thrill from people driving a long way because they are doing a good job promoting a fair racing environment. Racers get together and plan on where they will go, pile in to who ever has the biggest car and split the gas, figure out where the worst food is and eat together, have a fun day and head home gettintg there later than they thought they would. There is talk of it being too far and wanting a closer track so there day is shorter. Somethimes thier wish is granted and they are content. I don't know what causes it but for some reason, eutopia doesn't last long and they migrate in thier little nomadic bands back to the small tracks. And when they return, no one is looked upon as a traitor for leaving, and are welcomed back into the groups of locals.

Eww!!!! this is getting a little too sweet for me. I think I gonna be sick!

But, thats the way it works. Alway has. Always will.

OK, here is the deal Everyone. It is a crock of ---- what is being done at that track. There are not enough cars on either side to run to different days. If they would run both on Saturday and Sunday we all could at least have the option of what day works for anyone. Then we would have time to work on our cars. The darn doors would open early enough for use to get ready and all everyone would be better off. Now I want everyone to be there and I know Saturday doesnt work for everyone. But Sundays are a bunch of bull right now. The doors opened at 10:30 today and racing is supposed to start at noon. Come on. I got so mad today that we left because we couldnt get the batteries charged, not to mention everything else that needs to be done. I have never been so mad and dissappointed at a track in my 24 years of racing. That is a prime track that is being run with it head up its A$$. If Tim wont do what is right now, why will next year be any different. I DONT THINK IT WILL. I have tried to bite my tongue over this deal but after today I cant anymore and Im sorry if it makes my friends and racer mad but that is how I feel especially after today. As of today my Dad and my sister may not race again and that just flat pisses me off. Now if they are going to run oval on Sunday that is fine with me but open the !#@$ doors more than any hour and a half before start time.

I'm a oval racer and it's not very good to bitch, bitch, bitch about the change in the oval & onroad days. Deal with it and work on changing alittle your self, stop being old fashion.

As for Rob Murdock your actions today at the track doesn't show very good for Murdock RC. Your action of selling parts at the track in the building shows your no respect for the hobby. Tearing down the flyers for there up coming races on the door as you left is not good repoor for you promoting Murdock R/C. If you thing you can do better open up your own track agian.

Don't take this as a slam to Rob & Murdock R/C, It's a slam to all that are bitching & complaining. There is a great place to race let them work things out and enjoy one of the greatest places we have to race at in the area.

Let it rest deal with the change for now and talk with Hobbytown Management. Don't spread crap all over the web pages about how they are doing a poor job, Be thankful there is a place to race.

Yes I have been one to bitch but I've adjusted and I'm dealing with the change why can't you? Just wanted to get this out and help clean up the pissing & moaning about change. Not everyone will be happy with what ever they do. Let's all try to get along and have fun.

If Rob carries spares to sell that the store doesn't carry, then that is no big deal. That is not your issue here and should not have been brought up.

I have gotten irate at a track and left for various reasons myself I know Rob and something really must have got the best of him to do what he did. EVERY track should open AT LEAST 3 hour prior to race time. It takes allot of time to set up and be ready. If a track owner can't COMMIT the time to the don't race that day at all. But he can't do that because it's a BUSINESS. But it won't be for long if no one is there.

You all seem to be getting a little too hot about all this or cowboy wouldn't be getting deleted every time. If you want your "dream track" to remain then support it and change your schedule to have fun. This is a hobby to US. But it is a BUSINESS to Hobbytown. Maybe you should league race on certain week nights and all come together for big races once a month on a weekend or something.

Your name was at the top of a petition turned into the management of hobbyplex on 3-18-04 to change the race day for oval back the way it used to be.To me that is a form of bitching. You seem to be a little hipocritical. So if anyone is interested just look at who signed this petition which is listed on this thread. Furthermore when you need parts at the track why not tell all where you go!!!!! The others at the track know. There are no parts for oval cars at that facility nor is there even an oval car kit. Rob has given Tim all the parts and kit dealers names and phone numbers so the facility can stock parts. Not one has been called to place an order. Plus Murdock R/C has gone out of its way to promote Hobbyplex including a link on their web page for the facility and the race flyer for the 18th of April. Furthermore, for your information Rob's race trailer was at Hobbyplex today so his equipment would not get wet because it was raining north of Omaha. Plus he has told the drivers that he does not want to sell parts at the track. Asked them. Plus it is rumored that you and others are going to start up the Salvation Army track next fall because you don't like how things are at Hobbyplex. There were only around 10 cars at that track today. There are alot of people who will not go there and it is very unfortunate. People are frustrated and disapointed with the facility and it shows when only 10 cars race on a Sunday and only maybe three are from Omaha. What little the track gets is mostly out of town. So before you shoot off your mouth take a good hard look at yourself.

Tim Ski was handed a list off my website with every single oval part highlighted that was needed or optional part by me personally. KC Racing contacted him, Barry at hyperdrive contacted him, I gave him the phone numbers to the places to buy ksg part and all the other top oval stuff on the market and HE HAS NOTHING ON THE SHELF. Know what goes on behind the scened before you shoot your mouth off Mike Garrett. So shut your mouth b mainer. I have told everyone that I do not want to sell stuff to them there, but when they need something and it is not on the shelf then that is not my fault and if I have it then they can race that day. I would do it for anyone if I had to. The trailer was hooked up so my equipment wouldnt get wet because of the rain the day before as well as yesterday. If you have a problem with that then tough. I have gone above and beyond the call to help Tim out in that area. He came to me early on to ask what to do to make that place work, I told him exactly what I thought to avoid any trouble with scheduling, He did it fine for two weeks and the car count showed it. He did it his way and the car count SUCKS!@!!. So dont tell me that leaving yesterday had something wrong with it because even though I didnt like the change I have been there every week to race. As for the track comment, we all know that the Speed Zone was the best track that the midwest has ever seen since the old days of Hobbytown and rc speedway. Everyone knows what Mike Garrett pulled at the speed zone as well. You dont see my name on the petition do you Bmainer. Bmainer, you dont see me joining forces with your counterpart on starting salvation again, or bashing the !@#$ out of the track over east do you. YOUR A HIPOCRIT AND DOUBLE TOUNGUED, but we all know that already dont we.

Thanks for your support toyowner. Yesterday, nor are these post a testimont of how I am personally or as a business. But my frustration did boil over yesterday.

I know for a fact that there would be more oval racers if they raced on Saturdays, there is 10-15 oval guys that would love to come race but can't make it on Sundays but can Saturdays. Maybe they should run both on Saturdays because of the time factors. And get good turn out all around.

There is no room in this hobby for poor sports if that is the case go play golf, out on the course nobody can hear you complain. If r/c racing is going to survive in the midwest we all have to participate to make this hobby grow!!!!!!

it really would make everyone happy if Hobby Plex would race both classes both days.

Of Course - I'm being selfish - only because I have to work on Saturdays and have recently just gotten back into the hobby & have spent $$$ bucks getting back into road course stuff... :-) and haven't been able to ENJOY it as much as I'd like too. :(

Sorry cowboy.

I hope this is close to being resolved. You guys are straying from yor original intent and subject.

You all seem to want the same thing. Maybe a physical boycott for a weekend will send them the message. Think of it as a silent venting of frustration. And if you do it, you should all meet somewhere as a group and do something together. Don't let it involve R/C racing and DON'T even talk about it. Meet at Hooter's eat some wings drink some suds and watch some NASCAR or whatever walks in front of you. (@)(@)..............

We shall see,why dont the doors open before 10:30 if racing starts at 12:00?
I always have a great time racing with the flatlanders and I would love to come over and race but 1 1/2 hrs just isnt enough time to setup charge a pack and practice.
Maybe I will email and politley ask them to open sooner,if that doesnt work I will see you dudes at Mtown this summer.

63 laps in stock by phil

69 or 70 (I think) in 5 min. 19 turn open timing by Rob

61 in mod by Rob
I measured the track on opening day at 172 feet race line. The only problem I have found is that you dont want to make any huge adjustments in practice because of the road course groove that is still there. And that equals slower speeds for most of the day because the groove needs to be worked back in.

Im on high band these days Shane so we have no worries:)

I met a lots of new people and really had a terrific time. I want thank Craig M. for the setup help and Phil B. for all his help as well.
