View Full Version : FOCAR race #5 Sun OCT 24 @ RPM
davepull 09-27-2004, 11:03 PM With race 4 in the books race 5 is just around the corner. This will be the final race of the year. looks like it will have alot of action.
Date is Sunday OCT 24 and the place is RPM be there
katf1sh 09-28-2004, 09:23 PM race #5 will have the cups handed out for the series champions 1st thru 10th i have decided that because of some issues with hurricanes and date changes that if you scored enough points to finish in the top ten than you will get a cup..this means you may have missed 2 races but if there wasn't enough guys to finsih higher than you in the points or there just wasn't 10 cars in the field than you get a cup. the very least i can do for you all. remember the cups are sponsored by rgu repo graphics! ronny hames is the man! so if you can stick around for a half hour and watch the champions get there cups! next year it could be you? rpm should have some food available also..i hope we end on a solid note!
David Butts 09-29-2004, 04:54 PM Did'nt think I was gonna be able to make this race as I'll be in Kissimmee on the 23rd for a car show at Oldtown but now me tinks I'll just throw all my r/c stuff in the trunk and if I'm not to hungover from all the overindulgence(an oldtown tradition)I'll just drop by for a little racing. If I make it. Please hold the noise down. Last year even my hair hurt.:freak:
katf1sh 09-29-2004, 05:35 PM funny stuff dave!
totalrc 09-29-2004, 07:50 PM I am going to do everything I can to get someone to work for me that day. It will be hard because it is on a weekend. I really enjoyed racing at RPM last Saturday. If I can't make it, Katfish just keep us informed on the plans for the next series. I will make as many races as the Navy will allow.

davepull 09-29-2004, 07:56 PM Hey Kat since you have all the results what are the track records for RPM? and who has them?
katf1sh 09-30-2004, 07:03 PM boylan end or records! lol i think boylan in 19 turn, padilla in stock, myself in touring car,12th scale i'm unsure lemme look into that.
WELL I GOT A PACKAGE IN THE MAIL TODAY! BRAND NEW HOT OFF THE PRESS KGB SNIPER SOLID CAR KIT! A BIG THANK YOU TO JOSH AT KGB FOR THE CAR KIT! SWEEEEEEEEEEEEETTTTTTTTTT
davepull 09-30-2004, 08:39 PM Kat I wasz looking for times I know Mike Boylans 60 lapper is a record but I would like the times. I think when you know the record it gives everybody something to shoot for. I unlike alot of people care more about going faster each time I hit the track than winning. what i am saying is I would rathe finish 2nd and run 60 laps than win with 58 laps.
katf1sh 09-30-2004, 10:28 PM dave i think focars.net has the results of all the rpm races on it? www.focars.net
davepull 09-30-2004, 10:53 PM yah I seen the results. thanks man I just got down switching over my car to HW setup. In the main at the last race my car was junk. I now no why. I made a rookie mistake I never swapped the rear tires the rr was way smaller then the left. maaaaaaaaaaaannnnnnnnn it won't happen next time.
davepull 10-05-2004, 04:47 PM 18 days till the racing starts again. Guys this is a wonderful series and RPM is just awesome. Do all you can make it out to this race. Tell the family now that on Sunday oct 24 2004 you'll be racing in The FOCAR Race 5!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

katf1sh 10-06-2004, 10:55 PM the points have been updated and will be on the focar site asap. i mailed out the points to those on the mailing list. anyone else wanting to check out the points please email me katf1sh@earthlink.net thanks
davepull 10-07-2004, 07:20 PM Katfish can you explain to me how the points work???????????????
BarryG 10-07-2004, 08:48 PM For the 5 weeks of the series, you keep 4 of the 5 weeks points. You get 100 for 1st, 99 for 2nd etc. TQ gets 1 bonus pt. 404 pts, would be a perfect score. So basically if you didn't attend at least 4 of the 5 weeks, you stand no chance for winning that class.
davepull 10-07-2004, 09:57 PM oh I was under the impression that it was 3 out of 5 so that way you can't have a tie. I know that I can't win the points but I was hoping that I had a shot at a top 10 in only 3 races
BarryG 10-07-2004, 10:59 PM From the Focars web page:
"remember you get 1 throw out for the year out of 5 races you drop your lowest score"
davepull 10-07-2004, 11:03 PM maybe I should have tried to make another race. there is always next year.
BarryG 10-07-2004, 11:14 PM He's giving out trophys for the top ten, in spite of weeks attended. Who know's? At least you may have a shot at some wood.
davepull 10-07-2004, 11:22 PM nahh the guys above me in 1/10th 19t if they show to this race will all have 4 races. I doesn't really matter to me all I care about is going faster each time I hit the track.
katf1sh 10-07-2004, 11:34 PM barry you are hired! yes dave i realy wish you would have made 4 of the 5 races i think your name would be near the top! keep checking the web site out..it has some good info on there..mike boylan does a killer job. if you still cant find what your looking for ask barry! lol
davepull 10-11-2004, 09:52 AM moving it back to the top
katf1sh 10-11-2004, 05:04 PM is it here yet? nice to have a forum where everyone has a name and email address. funny how bs and his gang never show up on here? hmmmmmmmm

katf1sh 10-11-2004, 08:56 PM yeah some kids just dont get it? that poor horse lol
davepull 10-11-2004, 08:58 PM hey fish on the raffle. the red ticket that I got for being a FOCAR member that is for the end of the year raffle right? also what is in the end of the year raffle?

katf1sh 10-12-2004, 05:14 PM sunday will run a little late. we are going to have bbq available for purchase for dinner and we will be nading out the hardware as well as the year end raffle.
the year end raffle is only for those who are focar members. you each got one red ticket. that red ticket may get you a custom works aggressor oval car! the red tickets have your names on the back of them, you do not have to attend to win that raffle.\
the usual race day raffle will have a brand new KGB sniper car kit as well as lots of tires and lots of silva products!
the darl cloud award will be handed out for the guy with the tough luck of the day as usual. looks like ronny and IAn hames will receive the father and son points bonus award and get there tickets to universal islands of adventure! the 2 boys who ran for the title as novice champions will both receive a special award from RGU repo graphics as well!
i'm still waiting on word about saturday practice...
remember family members can join focars on race day as well as those who have not done so yet! the membership is good for life! you get the red raffle ticket a t-shirt and will help decide on rules for next year.

davepull 10-12-2004, 05:21 PM Today's News
Two engineering students were walking across campus when one asked, "Where did you get such a great bike?"
The second engineer replied, "Well, I was walking along yesterday minding my own business when a beautiful woman rode up on this bike. She threw the bike to the ground, took off all her clothes and said, "Take what you want."
The second engineer nodded approvingly, "Good choice; the clothes probably wouldn't have fit."
David Butts 10-12-2004, 06:27 PM [QUOTE=katf1sh]
70 lap mains all tracks?
Huh? Not at Hobby World if they get a date. That'd take a pit stop. Hmm maybe thats not so bad after all.
we need a class to replace 4 cell open mod? indy cars? classic cars, legends?
Allthough I'd vote for the indy cars I bet there'd be a ton of legends showing up. Everybody has one or two.
most of the races will be held outdoors so i expect a whole new world of issues when the rains come down?
Dont ever say the "R" word when mentioning outdoor racing. Its just plain bad Kharma.
Echeconnee 10-12-2004, 08:28 PM Hmm, replace open. How about NITRO OVAL!!! Jus ribbin ya Fish
katf1sh 10-12-2004, 09:09 PM LOL that is funny sheot!
hey echeconnee could you give me your real name one more time? my fat fingers cant hit all those keys for your screen name much longer, lol.
glad to see you have a sense of humor! and when you go around pokin fun you better be able to take some pokes back...i was waiting to see who was gonna get me first!
open mod and nitro are close to the same thing? lol
dave butts i'm going to print up a deal for guys to vote on some stuff..i will only accept emails or the printed sheet for voting. i think legends would be a good class, and i'm willing to bet i can get some help from the new company as well?
Echeconnee 10-13-2004, 08:21 AM Clifford Kline is the name, wrecking R/C cars is the game. Hope you guys try to make the race in Savannah (Pooler), it's indoor asphalt and should be a good race. If not, we will see ya in Daytona!
www.rcshowdownonthecoast.com
davepull 10-13-2004, 05:01 PM hey fish are you coming up to HW Sat night to run on the big oval?? you cried for so long that if we ran on saturdays you would race. what's the deal?????
katf1sh 10-13-2004, 05:18 PM dave i'm working this weekend for coca cola so i will be off next thurs, friday, sat and sunday. easy with that word cry, lol. bear called me today with some good news and we are going to try and work together between hobby world, strickland and gt bray i could race 6 weekends a month! after the focar season is over i can relax a little and run outdoors in the cooler weather. i'm so bad outdoors and you all make fun of me! he he i'm also going to try and put together at least 2 snowbird warm up races at rpm. one oval and one on road if possible? or i may do them at minnreg if not rpm. that has got to help us all for the birds a little? sorry i cant make it saturday i would rather race than work! we will come up..rich has hurricane damage to repair and ed bought a house so the daytona gang has been busy.
katf1sh 10-13-2004, 05:19 PM ok guys and gals we have permission to hold practice saturday the 23rd of october from 1 pm until closing. along with practice sunday until 10 am doors open sunday at 7 am.
just got word that the silva concepts raffle prizes are in the mail!
dont forget the raffle for the members when the racing is over sunday. we will also do our best to get everyone there cup for the points winners at race end as well. tony padilla and mel mmcoy have done there best figuring out the points. I also have a copy on paper of every race held so far just in case someone has a issue. i have plenty of handout motors at the track 25.00 for 19 and 20.00 for stocks. i'm going to be handing out a flyer with some rule changes and ideas to have you guys vote on for next year.
things like 70 lap mains for all tracks large and small?
we need a replacement class for 4 cell open mod, legends? sprint cars? indy cars? classic cars? spec class? i also love the team concept that mike boylan does. maybe 3 man teams all put in something into a pot and winner takes all each race? come year end?
things like this you all decide on.
we should have bbq at the track all day sunday for a reasonable amount. you can have some bbq and stay for the raffle and cup presentation.
ALSO THE SERIES SPONSORS: DONT FORGET THESE GREAT PEOPLE WHEN DECIDING ON A NEW CAR KIT OR TIRES,BATTERIES WHATEVER. they believed in me and all of you and were kind enough to help make this series happen. i think we have raffled off over 3500.00 in prizes in 5 races. next year we wont be back to the same track twice! this will require traveling and dealing with the weather even more so than this year! i have asked 6 tracks to give me a race date for next year.
superior hobbies said yes no date yet orlando area
GT bray said yes no date yet tampa area
strickland club said yes no date yet daytona area
hobby world said yes no date yet jacksonville area
rpm speedway said yes no date yet orlando area
speedline hobbies said yes no date yet tampa area
minn reg i need to talk to sam to get a rock solid 100% race date for next year, lol tampa area
again nothing wrong with franks accept every time have raced there was no 19 turn class due to track limitations,19 turn is/was our largest
class. now if you know of another track and think they may be interested for next year let me know asap. banked tracks involve cap tires and the idea of buying caps for one race scares me away? not against banked tracks just the extra expense involved with tires.
please if you have a problem with something EMAIL ME SUGGESTIONS? EMAIL ME or see me at the track dont complain about something that is broken behind my back. come see me, talk to me email me i listen i promise. no emails no track talk everything must be perfect? i have gotten emails in the past from members and none members some good some bad but i answered them all asap. i'm a racer i know when a race is good and when it's bad....we have had some great races this year...but we have had some bad as well...i'm learning as we go, this is alot of effort and i enjoy this so much when all goes well. i can't wait for sunday october 24th to try and top last race and maybe any other we have had this year. stay safe and see you all sunday october 24th 7 am thank you all for your support and understanding through it all. william sell

There once was a bear and a rabbit that hated each other. One day, they found a genie in a lamp who said he would grant them each three wishes. The bear went first and he said,"I wish to be the only male bear in this forrest." And he got his wish.
The rabbit said, "I want a motercycle helmet." And he got his wish.
The bear went up and said, "I wish to be the only male bear in the United States, and all the rest to be female." And he got his wish.
The rabbit said, "I wish I had a motorcycle to go with that helmet." And he got his wish.
The bear said, "I wish I was the only male bear in the world, and all the rest were females." And he got his wish.
It was the rabbit's turn, and he said, "I wish that bear was gay."

David Butts 10-17-2004, 08:49 PM Looks almost like a definate on me being there sunday. Well actually unless another hurricane pops up I will be there, I'll even cut back on the liquid refreshments saturday so I wont be in a bad way sunday at the track. Ran my personal best on the carpet last time so I'm looking to do a little better this time. Either way I'll be having fun with friends and nonfriends alike.
davepull 10-17-2004, 10:03 PM funny how much better the car works with traction compound!!!!!!!!!! so I won't have my buddy with me for the ride this time, that means i got an empty seat. i'll see if i can bring a new face with me.
katf1sh 10-17-2004, 10:14 PM drag phil owen or dan with ya! lol
davepull 10-17-2004, 10:35 PM I am working on Phil but Dan doesn't race anymore and I don't know if I can be locked in a reg cab toyota pick up for 2 hours with Dan. lol just kidding dan.
katf1sh 10-17-2004, 11:13 PM as some or all of you may know daytona has been ravaged by hurricanes the past 3 months. because of this about 65% of the hotels in daytona are damaged and will not be taking any reservations again until febuary 2005. what does this have to do with us you ask? well it's biketoberfest here in daytona, and the bikers who made reservations a year ago for this week had to find shelter at other hotels outside of daytona. you are going to have to search and search to find a decent rate and or a room available close to rpm in altamonte springs for next saturday the 23rd. i will tell you i got a room at the quality inn altamonte springs for 80.00 a night for a double bed.
235 south wymore rd.
altamonte springs fl 32714
1-407-862-7982 i suggest booking now and not waiting as bike weeks realy doesn't kick into high gear until wednesday this week! i have searched international drive as well and everyone has raised there hotel rates. this is price gouging at it's finest!
please do not delay and book a room now. if anyone finds a better rate please pass it on asap! another example of the hurricanes effecting another focar event! thanks william sell
