I know none here talk about SMALLVILLE, why I can't fathom. I post about it here b/c my webtv is'nt compatible with Super Hero Hype's site. Knowing ZIP about what the debut of season 4 is 'supposed' to mean and having no ties to anyone making the series, here's what I think is going on.
Maybe nobody watches the show or somehow have learned every friggin thing that happens in season SIX much less 4 and 5?

JOR-EL

That Clark look-a-like was NOT Jor-El and Jor-El is dead and was a good guy. My thought is General Zod while trapped in the Phantom Zone, somehow was released when Kal-El's meteor shower and ship effected the Zone. Zod's spirit or whatever joined with the ship and came to Earth where in ancient times, visiting Kryptonians did their thing and Zod was up to no good.

Zod prepared the cave headquarters jazz and remembers how it all works. Zod still needed a Kryptonian host to carry out his desires by possesing the body and Kal-El aka Clark is the only one. Zod does'nt really look like Clark but may be able to assume his form.

LANA

That energy rush that hit Lana in the museum or tomb, was the spirit of that great woman warrior....who's likely a Kryptonian. She may've been at war with Zod long ago. That's what I'm thinking right now anyway. So Clark/Zod flew and and entered Luthor's jet, cool and well done effects but put him in the tights dammit.

S#!t. I did. One I was really eager for. Does it repeat on Sunday ala last season?

The debut was Wednesday. Let me correct a previous notion, a Kryptonian can possess anybody, as in Lana's case, but Zod wanted to use Clark b/c of his powers.

To me SMALLVILLE is to Superman what BTVS was to monsters. I think it's a good show but I'm sure others think it a big pile. I figure you're better off seeing key episodes of the first 3 seasons at least to get a handle on the show before seeing year 4. I don't know episode titles though.

...it was O.K., but not a great season debut. The flying scenes were incredible. I don't like how the show panders to it's teen audience with the T & A: Kristin's body double (seen in as a shadow in the shower) is obviously more endowed than her. The actress who played Lois was practically falling out of her top when she first visited the Kent's home. And of course, Tom Welling was semi nude in a few scenes. I am certainly not a prude, but this stuff insults my intelligence.

Oh come now, how can a prime-time teen-angst soap opera about a "teenage" superhero played by a 29-year-old, where they completely flout the established comic mythos, and parade a new kryptonite-powered supervillian every other week, insult your intelligence? :D

Me, I love the show. Kal-El's flying scene was AWESOME. Kristen's nude scene on the bed (that WAS her on the bed, but not in thr shower) was very welcome to me, as was Tom's nude scene to my gay friends.

If ya didn't know this show was gonna be "Dawson's creek meets Superboy" going in, you weren't paying attention to the ads. :)

You can see Billy Mumy at around 5 years old in an old Superman playsuit on his official site's home page. How many of you had one like that?

Kristin? I'm still waiting for a nude of Shelly Duvall as Olive Oil!
Hey was that mirror steamed up in a critical spot when Lana looked at her back side?

I really like the show but hated the Kent/Lang thing - it just went on and on and on and on......

I'm also not a fan of the syrupy Kent family relationship nor the weekly kryptonite induced psyco.

I know that cuts out about 90% of each season but I mainly watch it for the Jor el parts.

Typical of a super hero series is the tendency to make the hero weak - ala Robocop or the flash. It seems to take each new villain about ten mins to discover Kryptonite.

Also, If I lived in a town with the equivalent of uranium/cyanide rocks all over the place - I'd move town!

We have a while before it comes on in the UK - but I'll most likely miss the first 2 episodes - I always seem to do that each season with Smallville. Seems they don't like to advertise it.

If Duvall is good enough for Jack Nicholsen and Robin Williams, she's good enough for me.

That Kristen laying nude on the bed scene was'nt that great....it's seen from a mile away! Definetly no peep show stuff there.

Duvall was born to play Olive Oyl. I just watched the "making of" feature on "The Shining" DVD and she was obviously "high maintenence" on that shoot. You get the feeling that cast and crew (and especially Kubrick) felt she was a major pain in the ass. She works well in the film though. Being locked up in a hotel with Shelly for several months might drive anyone to murder. Still, she was an oddly appealing actress. Always memorable in any part she played. Apparently she's still working, though the last thing I ever saw her in was "Frankenweenie" (1984).

Frankenweenie himself went on to freak show tours then became Tim Burton's hot dog lunch one day.

When Welling was nude except for the red blanket, I saw the cape connection then noticed how muscular Welling is. Unfortunetly for you all, HE showed more skin in that episode than Kristen did!

So who was the FLASH kid, Bart Allen or something? A generic Flash?? He can run faster than Clark too. Is Bruce Wayne really going to be on the show....or a generic Wayne?

Actually, Bruce Wayne was supposed to show up last season, but they had to make changes because of rights issues. Rember Adam Knight? The mysterious orphan who always dressed in gray?

The Flash kid had fake ID in the names of both Barry Allen AND Wally West - Flash and his sidekick Kid Flash. So does this negate the existence of BOTH those characters in this show?

Cute how Bart wore a red shirt and had the Flash emblem only on his backpack.

Let's see them have GL or Aquaman. Catch is they'd still be teens and Jordan or the latest guy would'nt have been given the ring yet. Aquaman as a teen would still be Aquaman though.
I can predict NO Billy Batson will ever be on the show. It'd be funny if they had it so Captain Marvel existed before Superman!

No matter what anyone thinks, the most gorgeous woman of the TV era was Phyliss Diller! Or maybe JoAnne Worley.
